Never taken a ferry just to get to breakfast but this was worth takine the LaHave ferry on a beautiful Sunday morning, wonderful location by the water, and the interior is full of nick-nacks from the past, service is very friendly, my omelette was cooked perfectly, the coffees were delish, we bought some gluten-free brownies for later, which tasted anything but…4* not 5* mainly because it’s on the tourist trail now, but that’s not really their fault.

The vegetarian lunch options leave something to be desired(I’ve tried the hummus sandwich and an equally underwhelming panini — far too little for your $ 8) but there’s really no need to return to them now that I’ve discovered the«pizza»($ 4 – 5, and like a Gryfe’s pizza bagel on steroids, for Torontonians who could use a comparison point). I’m all about the Greek slice. So delicious and perfect to eat in the car on the ferry as you cross the river back. I know an ardent fan of the carrot cake, if that’s your thing.

This place is really great. Fresh baked breads, cookies, and all kinds of goodies. They have a very unique pizza which is very good. It’s an interesting place I found while driving on vacation. There is a cable ferry right down the road that takes you to Lunenburg. I went back on my way home to pick up some cheese herb bread and everyone loved it.

We were staying nearby and visited twice in two days. The sandwiches(the roast beef and the ham) on day one were fantastic — excellent blend of flavors. On the second day we had coffee and treats. The coffee was perfectly brewed, the best in a long time. The thumbprint cookies were also a real treat. The peach-lime scone was less memorable but we appreciate the innovation. We’ll be back — multiple times — whenever we’re in Nova Scotia!

Down a windy road and across the LaHave ferry is the LaHave bakery, and walking inside is akin to walking into a storybook of some kind. The smells wash over you, the sights give you so much to take in once you settle on a treat and a cup of coffee, you’ll be so thrilled to nab a spot at the window and watch the actvitiy of this little place for a while. Personally, I think it’s even more exciting to visit when the fogs rolling in; it adds something mystical to the place.

Perfect location, perfect old cozy building, incredibly delicious soups, sandwiches, desserts. Always a crowd here. Had the falafel sandwich with a perfect combination of chick pea, sundried tomato, fresh spinach –tasty! This place is a mandatory stop every time we come this way. Take the Lahave ferry here — it lands next door — it’s part of the whole experience of Lahave.

Definitely not the type of Bakery I’m used to in the states but super cozy. I love the bread selection they offer. My boyfriend purchased the herbed pita, potato bun and loaf bread. I only tried the pita which was fresh and reminded me of foccacia. I must admit I was disappointed in the smoothie I ordered while there. It was watered down and tasted like it was just orange juice. While I am complaining, the bathroom could have been a tad bit cleaner. Other than that it was charming(aside from all of the flies present). I swear this is not me complaining ;)

Love this place. They have the best sandwiches on their fresh made bread, so many to choose from. I’ve tried most of them and loved them all! The cranberry lemon scones are awesome as well.

Consistently excellent breads such as their ‘potato’ and ‘Milk and Honey’ varieties. I find the commercial breads such as Dempster’s and Ben’s to be horrid and a poor excuse for bread. The LaHave bakery breads are excellent, substantial and very tasty. I am delighted that the bakery produces these breads and hope they continue to do so for a long time to come. Congratulations LaHave Bakery on making a decent and tasty bread. Thank you for your fine products.

Sunday brunch– Wow. I had the Eggs Benedict and my wife had the Omelette. When we were done we could have eaten it all over again. The bread is incredible, my eggs were done just perfectly, and the homefries were real: Pan fried with some garlic aioli on the side. I would have taken a picture but by the time I got my camera out all that was left was an empty plate. If you can find an excuse to have brunch here, make the trip. Their store and bakery is full to the brim with great products as well. LaHavre is lucky to have a place like this and Halifax or any other town can only dream of having a place so focused on quality and value.
