I don’t often buy«fancy bread». It just goes to waste in a household full of teen boys(they taste nothing). However, this bread is locally made and very good. They also supply bread to Locomotive Café for their toast bar. Locomotive is pretty picky and I know Artisan measures up. My fave here is the full pickle bread.

Can this place do any wrong? The answer in case you don’t know is NO!(okay I once had a sour dough that had hard top… but really it’s Hand-crafted bread I’m not going to knock them for that!!!) I’ve been enjoying and loving the Artisan Bakery breads that we serve at work for nearly two years now but I have never been into their little shop. Occasionally I’d grab a full loaf at the outdoor farmers market down town but rarely get out to OEV which so needs to change by the way. Anyhow I was down there for Vegfest or Zoo-a-veg-looza as it was busy as all get out and on my way out I just needed a breather. We popped in here intending on picking up a $ 5 brick o’ carb for comfort aka delicious bread but left with much more. The lovely ladies inside gave us a full tour as it was our first time in letting us know a bit about all the different things they sell. I was shocked to see so much more than just deserts & breads though I knew they had other things too. Almost $ 30 dollars later we had loafs, cinny rolls, sausage rolls and rasp tarts in hand. Not to mention a sweet treat of a raspberry coconut blondie bar just for popping by. Highlight: Sausage Roll, light despite the sausage in it, flaky & buttery perfection with the right about of spice in the meat to be unique yet not off-putting. Plus they are $ 2.50 and make a great little lunch… hello, cheapness & yumness together. The Cinny rolls were not the glaze laden Cinnabon variety, but packed with cinny and sweetness. Will definitely have to visit more often.

This is an amazing find! The service is second to none and they make the most stunning bread. I don’t live in the area, but it’s worth the trek out there just to pick up bread for the week. Everything is made with local products(Arva flour) and is incredibly fresh and tasty. They have staple breads but also some interesting creations(the kale and swiss chard are worth a try, I love them)! If you go on Tuesday its only $ 3.50 for a loaf!

This place is an Old East Village gem. Lovely down-to-earth staff. I’ve tried their sausage rolls(fantastic meat mixture hugged by a buttery pastry), sourdough bread(amazing), white rolls(so soft and chewy like a good roll should be) and their beet bread(unique and yummy). They also have many other delicious tempting treats and breads. And also have take away meals and sandwiches. I’m looking forward to becoming a regular and gaining 10 pounds. Heh.
