Mediocre sushi. Have been to Halu Sushi twice now, both times the food was inconsistent. Ordered the yaki udon and chopped scallop nigiri the first time and the chopped scallop roll and dynamite roll the second time. The flavours of the chopped scallop varied both times and the yaki udon was flavourless with an insane amount of grease. Pricing on their products is a bit on the expensive side(who charges an extra $ 2 for fish eggs for dynamite rolls?) Gave this place a 3 out of 5 stars because the service was amazing, the presentation and cleanliness/décor of the restaurant was nice.

Ordered the California combo along with an extra roll to go. I was unimpressed the sashimi came in rolls and not the fish on a glob of rice. The California rolls were baSic AF. Coulda just been a bad roll day but not impressed

Good sushi for the price. I enjoyed their lunch box and the California roll was amazing. Miso soup was good too. The chicken teriyaki was also delicious and consistent in taste. The meal was very filling and a lil more than what I expected so I was happy for that. The customer service was warm and friendly too.

The truth is in the cucumber roll if made correctly and with flair that’s a good sign for any sushi bar. I know it’s the cheapest roll but this place knocks the socks off but any cucumber roll. They have some hot sushi rolls that are fantastic check out the menu you can’t go wrong with this place.

Beautiful modern décor, nice staff. A little inconsistent food quality though. Sometimes my meal is amazing, other times not so much.

Been here a couple of times, but stopped on a way to a friends house and the thought of quizno’s made me want to gag. I like that you can opt for brown rice and that they have a bunch of unique rolls, like the deep fried and battered«Vegas» Roll… I was surprised how many menu items they have available in a fried version. Normally, I’d go easy on a little place like this, but with sushi on every corner like starbucks, its easy to get picky about who has great sushi. That being said, this place, while staffed by a very positive and friendly family, has only mediocre«fast food“sushi, the kind that you can get anywhere in the Lower Mainland. I think this might be due to the fact that they overprep and stock up for a rainy day… I noticed the sushi chef prepping days worth of ingredients, which made me question how fresh the fish and ingredients in my rolls were. Halu is actually hallowed if you believe some of my friends. Other’s find it haunted and point to the sad events that happened there(tragic accident). Not I. I will probably stop by again on my way down the lougheed corridor, grabbing a sushi cone and then a starbucks, my kind of fast food. 5⁄30 for 30 awesome days of Unilocal
