Fiorio At Square One

I’m sure experience here is based on your stylist, so I recommend Anthony. When I need a nice, professional cut I trust Anthony with my hair. Whenever I come where I feel that I have been to a spa, starting with getting my hair washed and a relaxing scalp massage. I was brought a latte and Anthony did a great job at making me feel comfortable. You can tell that he takes great pride in every haircut, and that’s definitely something that you want in your stylist. I’m sure that if I sat down and said «surprise me», I would be happy with the results.

In general, the higher the stylist’s level, the better your experience. I would recommend Aimee or Anna for women’s cuts. They do a great job.

Love the customer service at Square One Fiorio! Everyone is so welcoming! But let me just say I have been to MANY colourists — once I found Tammy! I was SOLD! The great thing about Tammy — she knows EXACTLY what you want — she knows what you want before you even tell her! Her technique comes with years of experience which is definitely a plus when you are as picky as I am with hair colour.
She is definitely the QUEEN of balayage! I showed her a few pics of JLo, Khloe K for the balayage look I really wanted for the summer — it was identical, if not better than what I was looking for. Recently I went back to tone it down for Fall/​Winter — to more of a dark blonde/​brown sombre — again, it was just perfect!
Yes, the cost is a bit up there — but with the balayage technique you can go almost 6 – 7 months without a retouch — only a toner (which they sell on their own at the salon — instead of paying $ 65 to go back and tone — you can purchase the toner for around $ 35 and do it yourself once the colour starts to get brassy)
Since I am VERY picky with my hair — I’d rather pay the price and be completely satisfied!

I normally get my hair done @ my friends place where she turned her basement into a home salon. The fact that my birthday is fast approaching, I thought to myself why not pamper myself w/​a professional hair colour @ a recognized salon. So then I booked an appointment to get my hair coloured by Catherine.
My appointment was scheduled for June 7^th @ 6:15. I was running late due to the fact that I was coming from richmond hill & was stuck in traffic. I called to inform them that I was running late. The receptionist? What she told me was that normally they don’t take customers in after being 15mins late but she still allowed me to come down. So I did the hectic commute from richmond hill to mississauga. I arrived @ 6:45 pm being 30 mins late thinking that I was still able to get my hair done.
By the time I got there, Catherine was just finishing up with a client. I waited a few minutes for her until she approached me. She introduced herself & asked me what I wanted to do with my hair. All I said was I wanted my hair to be coloured a full solid brown colour. Mind you I have some blonde on my hair that is growing out. She then wasted a few minutes of my time explaining the process it will take to get my hair coloured one solid colour & that she won’t be able to do my hair. As mad as I was. I just got up & walked away from the store.
What upsets me more is that the receptionist knew that I was running late but yet she allowed me to travel all the way there to only be turned down. I’m also upset @ the fact that when I got to the salon that Catherine girl was still working on someone else’s hair so me being late wasn’t the factor at all yet she kept saying how late I was for my appointment. Because of the poor service I received from this place, I never want to get my hair done from this location. That is why I also canceled a hair appointment that I was scheduled for couple of days ago. Time wasted is time I’ll never get back!

Few days ago I had my first visit to Fiorio. I made my appointment via online booking, which is absolutely great, extremely fast and with a lot of options.
I booked my appointment with Thuy at 11:30am, but she started to work on my hair about 10 minutes before that time, which was very convenient for me. Before that, I was greeted friendly at the front desk and taken to the salon.
In the beginning Thuy asked me what I wanted to do with my hair. She also gave good advice and really cared about what I had to say. She started my haircut with a wash followed by an AMAZING head massage. That was the best head massage I have ever received in a salon! It made me feel extremely relaxed.
My haircut turned out great. The hairstylist did exactly what I wanted and I paid only over 60 $.
The décor and atmosphere is great at Fiorio. The waterfall wall is gorgeous. They also have lots of open space, which for me is very important in the salon.
I also found out that they have complimentary fringe trims for half a year from your last haircut. The only thing you have to do is go to the front desk and ask for your trim. They will check when was your last haircut and if it is within 6 months then you will get your free trim.
Overall I would definitely recommend Fiorio to anyone who wants to receive a good quality haircut for an awesome price. I will come back here for sure in the near future.

I’ve been getting my hair cut at Fiorio Square One for probably eight or nine years now and with the same stylist (Tanya) for at least the last five. I can confidently say that in all that time I have never once had a bad experience. One single time a small amount of colouring product found its way onto my hair (it had spilled on the washing station) and they moved to fix the problem immediately. That’s the closest that I can even come to a complaint and this is me really stretching.
The salon is always immaculate and serene inside the zoo that is Square One, with a relaxing waterfall backdrop to keep you calm as you get your hair cut, coloured or styled. Coffee, tea or water is always offered and though by now I almost feel like part of the family, it’s always been a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Gary and Sue are always welcoming when you come in and the owner, Dominic, never fails to take a few moments to say «hi» even though I know he’s always swamped with work.
Tanya is, of course, a pro and has always done a bang up job with my hair, from back when I had it a little crazy (okay, really crazy) right through to my more sane current styling. I’m sure she could do my hair with her eyes closed by now. In addition when she was away on maternity, Mallory cut my hair and did a great job in Tanya’s absence. I’d highly recommend her as well.
I remember one time about a year ago or so that I stopped in at a cheaper place (that shall remain nameless) because I desperately needed a trim and didn’t have the time to make the trip to Fiorio. It’s the biggest mistake I could have made. Sure, I was only out $ 15-​$ 20 or whatever but I had to wait several weeks for my butchered hair to recover. Never again… there’s no need for me to go elsewhere.

I have been going to Fiorio for my hair color for more than 2 years now and unfortunately, every time I go the service turns out to be worse than the previous time. Last time, I had my hair color done by the person I always see who is a level 3 (…and of course quite expensive) and because there was an event I wanted to attended the following night, I thought to have my appointment on that Friday. The blow drying is «complimentary» and was usually ok but the last time turned out to be awful… and I really mean it! A coop started drying my hair and I realized from the first minute that she could not do it because I have thick and long hair. Guess what I heard when I asked for another person: «It is complimentary»!!! Are you kidding me? I am paying more than other salons to be treated like this?
Any way, cut the story short, I won’t go to Fiorio any more!
Oh, and by the way, although I have been their customer for 2 years, they did not even bother to give me a call when their address changed in the Square One mall!

I am VERY cautious about who cuts my hair. After having gone to the same person for over 15 years, I felt it was time to try somewhere within an hour of my home!!! I was dragging my feet on getting a cut but my husband actually got recommendations, bought me a gift card and made the appointment etc!
Pros — Based on my husband’s description of my hair to the staff when he went to buy my gift card, they recommended Chris. I booked my appointment and within the first 2 minutes of the consult, I felt completely comfortable. He told me what he would NOT be doing (which is where so many people go wrong with my crazy thick/​long hair). Loved the cut and Chris’s honesty.
Cons — he was running 20 mins behind schedule. Pretty sure that the «treatment» that was recommended was a waste of money… it definitely wasn’t a waste of time because it took about 5 mins to be sprayed in, combed through and rinsed out, incidentally the same amount of time that would have been spent with a regular conditioner that they don’t do when giving a «treatment». My hair did NOT feel softer and even they had a hard time combing through it with the product in… not impressed with that part. My husband was annoyed that the front desk staff didnt accurately quote him for the amount of my service. I added on the treatment so that was on me, but he described my hair and very long and very thick and was told how much it would be. They ended up charging me an extra $ 10 for having long hair. He was really upset with this because he had wanted to treat me and not have me pay (not a major complaint, but I find it odd that they don’t know what their services cost!).

It’s always so busy here, which is a good sign that they have a loyal fan base. I went to one of the 2 male stylists there and loved it, but unfortunately the one stylist I went to left the industry altogether.
They are very pricey I think. Their books are always current and on trend. I find that their uniforms make it look really professional, all in white.

Don’t subject your hair to this place! I was looking for a salon closer to home and have heard good things about Fiorio so I thought I’d take my straight, long hair over for a shoulder length cut with side bangs. Fairly simple. And you’d think the hairdresser would have asked what style I was interested in right? Instead, Maria immediately launched into telling me all about their shampoo and conditioners and how great they were… um thanks, maybe we can talk about my hair first?
I had to stop her recital of the wonders of shampoo to tell her that I wanted layers and side bangs but clearly she wasn’t listening. I know this because somehow the left side of my hair is longer than my right and I don’t have layers so much as a mess.
I’ve called twice to set up an appointment to fix it however they are completely unhelpful, the first person I spoke with — Gary — told me I would have to see the same stylist as they won’t allow anyone else to do a re-​do. And they only do re-​dos on Wednesdays. WTF?

My hair is part of my identity. I know some people can bleach, dye, cut, and shave it without a care but that isn’t me. I’ve been going to Fiorio for over 10 years. It’s not the flashiest place in the mall (that would be the Donato Factory… er… spa) but to me, it’s the best place for modern styles with the best service. I’ve gotten many compliments on my hair and it’s all thanks to the numerous stylists I’ve used here.
The space is open, wide, and it doesn’t feel like a milk factory where chairs upon chairs are lined up in tight spaces (points to Donato). The service here is focused on hair and it has a large special area just for dyeing. My stylist, Daniella, is not cheap but my hair looks phenomenal from day 1 to day 160. She’s always super nice, professional, friendly, willing to share a good tip about restaurants, and always on time! I love that about her. Most places just rush you but never here.
Another great thing is that they offer you free espresso drinks or tea to start. It’s actually on par with the mall coffee so that’s a nice little perk. They do have stylists that are more junior so it is possible to get a more affordable hair cut and still look amazing. They also do men’s cut very well (Miko cuts my husband’s hair).
Love this place and after 10+ years going here, it’s still my favourite.
