The food was laughably bad in my opinion. My dinner companion disagreed. I grew up eating Americanised Cantonese food in the San Francisco Bay Area — i.e., some of the best type of THAT type of Chinese food in the world. My dinner companion grew up eating Northern Chinese food in China. So how much you like this restaurant will depend on what you are used to I suppose. The hot and sour soup was starchy and had peas in it… not a fan of either of those qualities in hot and sour soup. The mu shu pork was served with store bought whole wheat tortillas(yes, the same ones you would use to make a quesadilla with), at which point I wanted to request the cheque and just leave. If you don’t understand what’s wrong with that then perhaps this review won’t be as useful as some of the others. The saliva chicken(it might be called delicious chicken on the menu) was the only good thing. I would order that again if I, for whatever reason, ended up eating here again. I also nearly chipped a tooth on a rock in the mu shu pork. But honestly I was able to quickly get over my annoyance at the rock, because… stuff happens I guess, and this was surely unintentional. The tortillas, however, were unforgivable(still in shock as I write this)… I think it was around $ 60 for two people.

A 1st time visitor, we ordered 4 lunch specials($ 7.95). The portions were very generous. 2 of us ordered ginger beef with extra spice. The other members of our group had chicken. Our food was cooked to order and very good. The service was good, friendly. Our bill came to $ 30 for 4 — very good value for North Vancouver!

The power is out in our neighbourhood tonight so we thought we’d give this place another try. Still slow service and still mediocre food. Oh well. At least we’re not hungry anymore!

Bad service and good food = not impressed enough to return. I ordered delivery to try this restaurant for the first time(based on other decent reviews here) and it was the most odd delivery experience I have ever had. So unusual that I won’t order their food again. They did not explain a delivery charge when I ordered. the food arrived and the driver overcharged me by $ 15. I thought maybe I misheard the total when I first ordered because there was a language barrier(but that’s fine). Just before the driver almost left I noticed the detailed receipt was $ 38.17 but I was charged $ 53.17. Then he said they have a $ 5 delivery charge, and handed me $ 10 cash to reimburse me. I was not really impressed with how this was handled. I called the restaurant to question their delivery charge, and they said no charge, but their driver is a separate business. They said they would call me back once they talk to driver. They claim their delivery charge is on their menu, but they didn’t give me one with the delivery. I found it online, and it didn’t state the charge, just free if you order within a certain radius. Still frustrating. We are barely 5 km away. I won’t order from them again.

Family restaurant, great Szechuan food for a fair price. Service could be a bit better…

We have been regulars of the restaurant for a long time to the tune of $ 60.00 for our Friday night ritual. We order the same things every time and have enjoyed the food, it’s very good. Unfortunately for as good as the food is, the customer service is just as bad. Due to communication issues, the did not get our order right. We didn’t notice until after we had driven home with the food. When I called, the owner argued with me that I was wrong. She then told me to bring back the dish they messed up and then CHARGED me for the new dish with absolutely no concern for the hassle she caused or the fact that the rest of our food was at home getting cold while I dealt with all of this. When I let her(and her husband) know how upset I was at the way I was being treated as a good customer– she was rude and dismissive and he shrugged his shoulders and said«misunderstanding». We will never go back now due to the service and I would suggest that anyone ordering by phone not ever leave the restaurant without checking out their dishes first… or plan on the same horrible treatment.

Great food and great service. The owners are very night and the food is always delicious. Love the mongolian beef(extra spicy) and my boyfriend loves the ginger beef. Would recommend! Lunch special and dinner special are also great deals.

I wasn’t expecting much. and like Bracket S, I was pleasantly surprised. $ 7.95 lunch special menu is lengthy and each dish comes with your choice of wonton soup or hot and sour. I ordered the orange peel chicken(requested it spicy) with wonton soup. I’ll start off by saying I’m very particular about wonton soup. I like it, but find that most wontons have a really pungent aftertaste that I am sensitive to. These ones were pretty good. The orange peel chicken came in an impressive portion and was really good! The only complaint I had was that she went a little crazy with the spice. I’ve got a pretty high tolerance for spice but this had my mouth stinging for hours. Be warned — if you ask for spicy they’ll make it reallllly spicy. So specify. My brother had the beef and broccoli. It was great. The portion seemed a little small and the beef was tough at times but that is usually to be expected with this dish. Overall, great experience.

Surprisingly good. 2 dollar beer special from the pearl river. Spicy and authentic. Try the ma po tofu and the spocy green beans. Good service. Hidden(604) 653‑8046

I was pleasantly surprised. Recommend — service is friendly — portions are large — rice noodle stir fry and lemon chicken was excellent — from order to food was quick — décor is classy

I have serious health concerns about the cleanliness of this establishment. Kids walking around in the kitchen and front of house, touching dishes on the front counter before they go out. The food was overly greasy and not the most cost efficient. Large portions though. Behind the counter you can find numerous stacks of personal belongings piled up to the drinks at the bar. I will not be returning here.

Maybe I’m a hard critic when it comes to Asian cuisine, but these guys did pretty good. Ordered four or five dishes on at least three occasions to try them out, and was not disappointed. It is nice that it is convenient to where I live in Lynn Valley, but I would still recommend calling ahead with your order. On all occasions it took upwards of 30 mins for them to prepare the food for take out, but maybe I just happened to go on busy nights all three times. As for how the food tasted and looked I give them a thumbs up. Overall a good job and delicious meal.

We always would order from this restaurant since they opened, so we are regulars. We always order the dinner for 2 with chicken chow mein instead of the beef and mixed vegetables. But today we went to order and the lady told us that if we wanted that substituted we would have to pay an extra $ 2. Okay so hold up. The chow mein is $ 1CHEAPER than the beef and mixed veg. So why should I have to pay $ 2MORE. There justification for that was that it’s to encourage people to not make substitutions. So apparently this restaurant penalizes their regulars for wanting a dish that they actually want. You know I would understand the extra cost if I was asking for a more expensive dish, but I’m not. I also understand that $ 2 isn’t a lot of money, but it’s the fact that we are regulars and they are just getting greedy. They just lost 2 regulars that would of been coming to them for years.

New Champion of Chinese Restaurants on the North Shore. Great place for both lunch and dinner. The lunch is great value at $ 8. The hot and sour or wonton soup are both great(comes with the lunch). The flavors are very tasty, serving size are generous and prices are reasonable/good value. We have had the ginger beef, black bean beef, tofu with veggies, spicy beans with rice, beef with gai lan, chow mein. All was very good. Eaten there or taken out now 5 times and it’s been consistently very good. The restaurant is clean and the service is solid. Great addition to to North Vancouver restaurant portfolio!

We had dinner at Wonderful Szechuan. We ordered three dishes plus an appetizer. Everything was cooked perfectly — prawns were not overdone, spices were balanced and spiciness adjusted to our liking. Service was friendly and attentive. All the servings were generous. For the quality and quantity of food, the value is excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for sit-in or take-out any time. I hope that Wonderful becomes a Lynn Valley success.

Had a lunch there with our four year old. The food was… well. great! It left such an impression that our son continues to ask to go back which we will for sure. The server was wonderful. Made very good suggestions and brought things for our kid without having to ask which is rare. Decent value. Hot and sour soup was fab. Very good value, friend service and very nice food.
