Jackson-Triggs Winery

Being from California we should start off by saying that we are used to a different type of wine. We were not fans of the reds here but it’s a climate issue. Their ice wines were delicious however. The staff and atmosphere were outstanding. We did some wine tasting (stuck with the ice wines) and then moved on to a picnic. We got a blanket along with two glasses of wine, meats and cheeses. It made for a pleasant afternoon. Very enjoyable.

Stopped here after Inniskillin and was quite impressed. The table wines were not quite as good, in comparison, though there were some fun rose and summer wine options to try. The ice wines themselves were quite good, and they offered a gewurztraminer, simply fantastic. The ice wines here did not seem to have AS high sugar content as the Inniskillin varieties, and the flavors popped out much more as a result. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and eager to talk about the wines and the techniques used. Setting is gorgeous, as are the rest of the wineries in this area. Definitely worth a visit!

Wow this is a large winery. The concert venue is honestly an experience you shouldn’t miss this summer. It’s got great sound and very intimate. The winery itself is impressive and really well designed. If you’ve never been to a winery there’s so many different things to learn about the process each individual winery does to create that final bottle.

This review isn’t of the winery itself, but of their concert venue and restaurant.
After scoring tickets to see Jann Arden, a group of us ventured out to NOTL from Woodbridge. It was a very hot, humid, Saturday evening. When we arrived at Jackson Triggs, there were signs posted that the parking lot was full. Not sure of where to park and looking like a deer in headlights, a staff member came up to the car and advised us to park in the plaza across the street. It was a short walk back to the front gates of the winery. When we arrived back, the chap who told us where to park pulled up with a golf cart and offered to drive us into the grounds of the winery. Great service and totally not expected.
After we disembarked the golf cart, we wandered onto the grounds where the concert was going to be (more on that later) and decided to grab a bite at their restaurants prior to the show. Local vendors were also allowed on site, so you could have a pizza, fruit filled pies, etc. We ordered one pizza and then found seating on the patio outside the restaurant. A cheerful waitress came by with menus and we ordered off it as well… a cheese basket (very good) and some salads. Food was reasonably priced and tasty. Wine was ridiculously overpriced.
On to the best part… the concert featuring Jann Arden. The venue itself is very intimate… it holds only 500 people and is an outdoor amphitheatre. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. We were 5^th row, centre… and at times it felt as though Jann was close enough to touch. Thankfully, the sunset and a slight breeze developed, otherwise it would have been unbearable in the heat and thankfully, it didn’t rain (although it looked at times that it might). The vineyard itself is close by and we were concerned that mosquitos would be an issue but that wasn’t the case. Seating was comfortable directors chairs and as an added bonus, you could get up at anytime and visit a portable wine bar that Jackson Triggs had set up (although wine was, as stated earlier, ridiculously overpriced for the size of drink you got)
Hearing Jann perform under the stars was pure magic. It is an excellent venue to watch a concert. I guess that every summer Jackson Triggs does a Canadian talent concert series, I highly recommend checking in out.

We’ve visited a few of the well known wineries in the area yet Jackson-​Triggs is undoubtedly my favorite. The tour is fun and informative without being overly drawn out and you get to taste along the way. The staff is unpretentious, welcoming and friendly.
As for tasting, I don’t think they have any bad wines and they do a great job of describing each. Spend some time here, go early if you want to beat the crowd and hang out by the patio with a refreshing glass on a sunny warm day. You won’t be disappointed.
Unfortunately I couldn’t «Check-​in» during my August 2013 and August 2015 visits for fear of being hit with international data fees and although they will share the WiFi password with you, I couldn’t get Unilocal to connect.
Took home a bottle of Ice Wine and the «SPARKLING CHARDONNAY MUSQUÉ»

Ambience: ⁵⁄₅ for architecture
Wine: in 10 – 30 $ range is not to my liking. Though I do like the Clos Jordanne line. Hope to try their Delaine lineup as well someday.

We had a group event at Jackson Triggs. Starting the evening off we took a few buses to this winery and when you get off the bus to Employees of the vineyard are holding trays of sparkling wine when you enter it can mean only two things. 1) they understand excellent customer service and you know you will have an outstanding evening. 2) people in your group are going to get silly drunk. Both were true of our evening at the vineyard.
The grounds and layout of JT is immaculate. The setup for the evening was different food stations that you could discover in the different rooms plus 2 different wines at each station of JT to sample. The food provided was all very decadent and delicious. For the wine my favourites were the Pinot Noir and the Sauvignon blanc. Overall excellent service by the staff. Some stations they were serving a bit skimpy amounts from the bottle. If you need to ask for a larger glass at a vineyard I consider this a bit disappointing. You could sample in the cellar room, out back overlooking the plants and at the display store. It’s always great to be able to test and taste all the wines of a vineyard.
I took the opportunity to take a vineyard tour and saw where they mix the grape juice in the big stainless steel kettles, the oak barrels In the cellar and walked amongst the plants in the vineyard. Overall we had a newer girl giving the tour and she did an admirable job.
Compared to vineyards in Italy, France and Napa they do a good job here. It’s all about the story and they could emphasize certain points to bring the grandeur and excitement up but overall a 3.5÷5 experience. The wine was ⁴⁄₅ and the food 4.5÷5.
In the end I ended up buying 2 bottles of the Cabarnet Sauvingnon and 2 bottles of the reserve sparkling Sauve Blanc. They should make way for a great evening dinner or with friends! Can’t wait!

This was my second year attending one of the Jackson Triggs Summer Concerts. Once again we did the dinner package which included 5 courses and a sampling of four wines served with the varying courses:

Dinner is served in the cellar of the winery. Several long tables were elegantly set amidst huge oak casks. The ambiance is truly memorable.
Staff was very efficient and friendly ensuring that dinner was finished in time for us to head outside to the amphitheatre where we savoured our ice wine under the evening sky. In this case, unfortunately, the sky happened to be misting us with a light rain. We were given ponchos which kept us reasonably dry and we hardly noticed the weather as we enjoyed the sweet sounds of the Sam Roberts Band. They put on a great show. «Where Have All the Good People Gone» had everyone up dancing.
It was a fun night with great friends, good food, amazing wines and beautiful music. Well worth the cost! Check out my plate pics in the photo section for a description of some of the menu highlights.

We enjoyed our experience here. We came in the middle of the day. It was touristy which we were okay with since they handled the crowds well. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. We had to ask to have any explanations about the wines which they gladly went over with us. The tasting room is intimate and more of a wine shop. You can eat here and we didn’t but really wanted to. Their patio looks out to the Vineyard and is great for photos. We loved the view and the ambiance of the place. The wine was decent but nothing blew us away. We tried ice wine here for the first time. Neither me nor my husband were fans of the sweet taste. It was actually hard for us to drink however, that is just our opinion and not a reflection of their ice wine. We had a great experience and hope to return one day!

This was our first winery tour and second winery tasting of the day. We went on a Tuesday and were actually about an hour early for our tour but the ladies allowed us to join the tour that was already in process. We tried a brut, white, red, and ice wine.
Let me just say — I am in love with ice wine! It is so thick, delicious, and sweet. We were also introduced to a Canadian mimosa which was a little bit of ice wine and a little bit of brut.
The ladies were so helpful that we opted to buy three bottles to bring home to Louisiana — two ice wines and one brut! They explained to us that we could each bring two bottles of wine over the border — if only we had more room in our suit case!
They even suggested where we went for lunch (Garrison’s) which allowed us to have the most delicious burger.

We have been here twice and both times it was just an amazing night. We did the Savour the Sights progressive dinner/​tour and it was just out of this world.
The Tour
I really like when you get to tour a facility like this instead of just being shuffled into a tasting room. We did tours both in the summer and fall and they are a little different (more outside stuff in summer) but they both follow roughly the same path. The tour guides are all very knowledgeable on wine and the the history of Jackson-​Triggs. As you go through the different areas the group stops and has a tasting and a food course which is a great way to break up the evening.
The Food and Wine
Never in my life did I try so many new foods in one night. The chef is a genius and is always trying new things and so every time you go there are new things on the menu. The first time we went we had things like Beef Tartare, Salmon Sashimi, Mushroom Risotto and some quail egg and soup thing as well as Chicken for the main. The second time it was oysters, clams, a different risotto and steak for the main. Every time the food is super fresh and amazing. The wine pairings they make with each course are a perfect mach. They like to pair with their Delaine wines and they are just great. We are fans of the Chardonney, Syrah and the Gewürztraminer. Their Grand Reserve Sparking Brut is good as well.
The Service/​Staff
Everyone at Jackson-​Triggs was great. They took amazing care of us throughout the night and never left us wanting for anything. The tour guides were entertaining, the kitchen staff made amazing food and the serving staff took care of our every need.
This is an amazing experience and I recommend it to everyone. The only drawback is it will hit your wallet hard (both with the dinner as well as the wine after) but it is well worth it. I just wish we could go more often.

We took the 40 minute tour, which was limited to inside due to the heavy March snow that was still on the ground. The tour included (4) tastings and they were arranged throughout the tour in order of harvest. Pretty cool.
The facility is made to in modern barn style. Which is to say there’s a lot of concrete, steel, wood, leather and wide open space.
There were 4 of us. Hubs represented the ‘no thanks’ anti-​wine population, so we naturally divvied up his share and pronounced him designated driver!
We sweets were very happy with out sweet choices and our dry guy was pretty happy with his choices, as well. And our tour ticket then turned into a $ 5 off/​bottle coupon.
The ice wine is rather spectacular!

This winery used to be better, quality has diminished and being a wine club member is not what it used to be as food is limited and small portions. It seems they grew without a strategy and head count in place. Very nice building and estate but no service whatsoever. Tables stay dirty and service is rude if you ask them to clean them up because you want to eat. I guess they’re not happy with having more customers. Stay away!

After spending significant time and money in both the town of Niagara-​On-​The-​Lake and a couple other wineries, my group and I desperately wanted to relax and enjoy a winery without the structure of a set tour — I mean how many Oak casks can you really look at? amiright?
While JT is definitely a big player in the NOTL and Ontario wine scene, they definitely had a different approach which fit perfectly into what we were looking for.
Walking through the main entrance we made our way to the bar and restaurant (snack food) area, each ordering FULL glasses of wine and a healthy sized platter of cheese and bread. We took our order out to one of the many picnic tables in the grass along the border of the vineyard and enjoyed our wine and cheese al fresco.
If that wasn’t enough, we noticed that unlike other wineries who’ve frowned upon walking among the vines, JT actually had private picnic tables set up within the vines and we quickly moved out group there. Stunning! If I closed my eyes I TRULY felt like I was back in French Wine country with friends so many years ago downing bottle after bottle of wine and sharing laughs. It was amazing — a moment I won’t soon forget!
What won me over was that the kitchen was just closed (4pm) and we were ordering our drinks at 4:03pm. The server initially told us cheese wasn’t an option, but suddenly in the interest of customer service they reconsidered and chopped us a healthy portion of cheese and bread! Sweet!
Big fan of this place and will definitely return!

One of my My favorite wineries in Niagra! Try the red meritage! Nice earthy dry red. Beautiful vinyard, friendly professional staff. The Riesling is amazing! It’s like no other Riesling, fruity yet dry…(inset pic over vinyard)

Jackson Triggs is a Canadian ‘name brand’ wine. I from the States and never heard of Canadian wine, but that’s only bc they are not allowed to export alcohol, but you can take it home!!! ;)

Jackson-​Triggs has been my local wine of choice for years. So I was super excited to visit the winery for a complimentary wine tasting.
My boyfriend and I were allowed 2 table wines and 1 dessert wine each. He tried two of their reds, I went for their whites — Vidal and Gewürztraminer — both lovely. But the best bit? Their Riesling ice wine! Do try.

The winery is cute, the wines are divine, the staff is friendly and helpful!
Upon arriving, you first notice how beautiful this place is. The pictures don’t do it justice. We arrived during November, the grapevines were completely full. Their ice wine was too sweet for my personal taste, but amazing to try nonetheless. Their table wines were superb. Even though it was rather busy, the only gentleman behind the bar giving out tastes was beyond attentive & really, really, really good looking… After some wine he looked even better.

It was very busy when I visited, had to wait for tasting bar spot becomes available. General tasting room was kinda small compare with size of the building. Staffs were very helpful and friendly even though they were very busy with lots of customers. Jackson triggs has good quality wines and prices are reasonable also. Good Vidal ice wines, dessert wines.
It has immaculate decorations and gorgeous building, but it has lack of personality. Personally I prefer family owned/​operated winery, this gigantic corporate winery gave me sterile feeling and didn’t appeal me much.

Here I got to tour the winery ($ 5) and then enjoyed some Fireside Chili paired with their Gold Series Red Meritage ($ 5).
Staffs from the tour, restaurant, tasting bar, reception area are all super friendly and you can tell they just passionate about everything about Jackson-​Triggs!
I just love the deco, chic, homey, rustic and modern all at the same time…
Sipping on wine on a sunny afternoon overlooking a huge vineyard… I like that!
