Overpriced!!! The store have large selection of products but prices are crazy! The bulk section is too expensive, there is bunch of much cheaper stores around, I am surprised this store exists and people are shopping there. I buy local produce, mostly organic stuff, I am vegetarian. Will not be shopping at this store!!!

Preferred place for some organic groceries. Lots of parking and even a clothing donation drop off — next to it is an insurance place and down the street a 711, oldest donut shop and specialty gluten free or wheat free pizza place… the list goes on… love Upper Lonsdale! and I always support small businesses. Sometimes they have a bit expensive prices and other times on occasion things are little past due or a dollar here or there more. but I look at it like my friendly town market as everyone knows me and I know them :) I also save gas that I would have lost going to Whole Foods(overpriced gourmet organic junk food) and spending on tempting but oily greasy hot buffet. Lot’s of variety of products and efficient service. Great deli and sandwiches, lots of specialty products for meats. My go-to place for organic and grass fed, non-antibiotic meats and dairy! Oh and they sell buffalo which is high in iron, protein and lower in fat than beef. Fresh organic liver from time to time as well for yum or medicinal purposes. Next time you think you’ll barf at liver try placing them salted on the barbeque… omg! Sandwiches are good $ 3.99 for a basic to-go nosh… lettuce needs to be washed better though as I always get grit.

Love the organic selection and prices. It could always improve but great start for a local grocery store. They have Blue Goose gass-fed beef and Grass Roots Dairies grass-fed non-homogenized whole milk in a glass bottle! Staff is friendly and community oriented. You get a 10% discount on purchases over $ 50 when you show your North Vancouver Rec Centre Playcard.

RE: the deli and sandwich shop Love the sandwiches here. Home made style and fresh to order. However go at off hours because the lines are long and this place is not really set up to do volume sales. Huge variety of eats to chose from. This has become a favourite stop as of late. Keep calm and eat on! HungerMan approved!

Pretty good for organic and specialty items. Good produce section and lots of gluten free choices. I think it’s targeted at the health conscious market. I find they have high prices on lots of the brand name products though — I expect sometimes as much as 30−40% more than in the bigger grocery stores. I won’t do my main shopping here but I’d still recommend it for the variety and hard to find items.

Seems organic is every where now and the variety of veges here is enough for my stir fries. Nothing outstanding but most items I need last minute are here. I just wish it was easier to turn left back on to Lonsdale.

Bread/bakery items. Queensdale sells items baked byTerra Breads and European Bakery(Boulevard Baguettes) among others. They also sell a variety of bin baked goods, some of which are baked on site, and old fashioned doughnuts from a doughnut shop across the street on Lonsdale avenue. In most stores, day old bakery items are marked as «day old» and discounted. Not at Queensdale! I suspect that they sell day old items the next day at the same price after having refrigerated or frozen them overnight, then replaced in their original paper bags or bin the next morning. Conveniently, nothing is dated. How then, to explain shortly after opening(8:00 am) a few random loaves of bread that feel suspiciously cool in their bags? Did Terra Breads only deliver 4 loaves of bread that morning? I paid 3.99 for a baguette that was icily cold to the touch on the bottom,(but not the top) when I checked the bag at home it had small damp spots. The baguette was not fresh, but sold as such. Anytime I am desperate and go there for something, I am reminded why I do not shop there regularly!!!

I’ve only been here once and it’s probably the last time I’ll be there. The employees there are relatively nice but that’s where it goes downhill. I bought a jug of milk for a little more than what Walmart sells, and by the next day, guess what happens? The milk had started to go south on me already. I always keep my fridge quite cold and it wasn’t due to expire for at least another couple weeks. I kind of suspect that their fridge just wasn’t cold enough when I had gotten it, but I guess it’s my fault for buying any short of dairy products from them.

This has been a favorite stop for a few years now. The meat section in the back has fresh buffalo, both ground and steak, and a good variety of lamb, beef and pork. Lots of home style chorizo, hot Italian and other sausages. Today I picked up black chia seeds for cat grass, a yummy loaf of Terra Pecan Fruit bread and sunflower seed bread from Germany, which is becoming more rare in larger stores. But the big surprise of the day, for me as a carnivore, was the barbequed ribs from the deli. I was hungry, as I had just finished a shift, and these ribs were looking mighty fine. Thick, glistening sauce. Chunks of meat hanging off the bones. Alrighty, two of you must come home with me. The drive home — tantalizing rib odours wafted in from the trunk. I almost stopped on the Mountain Highway to chomp these beauties. Once at home, I devoured the most delicious ribs I have ever eaten! I just stood at the kitchen counter, savouring the thick sauce and licking my fingers. After mopping the sauce off my face and hands, I called Queensdale to thank them for the delectable ribs, and found to my delight that the ribs are made on site. Also in stock is African Fair Trade Shea Butter, which we have discussed on the«girlie thread.» The bulk bins feature kamut, spelt, and other variety flours. Lots of organic nuts and unsulphured organic dried apricots for those Moroccan recipes! This is a small store, stocked with many hard to find items, and really worth the trip up Lonsdale. The staff are always cheerful, and there is adequate parking in the lot.

This is one of my preferred destinations for organic shopping. A good but limited selection of fruits and vegetables, with organic deli and medication free chickens. Has a mix of regular and organic foods so shop accordingly. Not a member of a chain for those, like me, who value that. I would go more frequently, but it closes at 7:00PM and I’m usually only organized enough to start my shopping by then.
