Don’t order yakisoba with shrimp only comes 4 shrimps. The service is ok, the food comes in a fair amount of time. The restaurant it self is good. But the size of the portions are small, the sushi pieces are tiny and this shrimp yakisoba joke… I even asked the manager is if was correct and the explanation was that for 9.50 was more than enough… It was my second and last time there.

It’s not the best place to get sushi but for $ 30 my family of 4 is fed. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes is good sometimes it’s really terrible. My family comes here for convenience.

I had the tempura appetizer and chirashi bowl. Large cut portions of fresh sashimi over a cool bed of rice. I love the attention to that particular detail over the rice. Many a times I’ve been served the same dish over warm rice resulting in warm raw fish. Great value for portions and quality.

I always get the tuna and salmon sashimi. Very large portions at the lowest price I’ve seen for sashimi. Furthermore, prompt service.

It’s probably not as bad as it sounds, under Unilocal’s rating description for 2 stars, «Meh. I’ve experienced better». Especially considering that if you drive down for 1 more minute, you’ll eat much better @ Sushi Town, though you will be paying 50% more. But if you’re a serious Unilocaler, you would definitely go for that! Ordered cali roll for takeout after Quizno’s next door wasn’t as filling as it used to be; nothing memorable. It wasn’t rolled right with even blotches of no rice on the seaweed lol. Not bad, not great. But for those value conscious, they had a 18 pc special with miso soup for under $ 7. Aha, quantity trumps quality here. Ambience-wise, nothing exists here, quite simple and not really a place to party it up on a Fri nite. More like an eat and go. Located in Norgate plaza, free parking.

We really enjoy this North Vancouver Sushi place. Ambiance is not great, but staff is super friendly, food is good and it is super cheap. I LOVE the gomae. Big portion of delicious spinach and the sauce is lovely for under $ 4 My measuring stick of a sushi restaurant is often the tuna sushimi. Their Toro sushimi is delicious … melt in your mouth quality, though not always cut pretty like high end restaurants. Specials are an incredible deal, but menu is affordable to order off of as well. Bottom line, if you do not care too much how it looks but are more concerned about how it tastes and the price point, you will love this place too. Looking forward to going back soon.

Love this place and how I don’t have to cross a bridge to get there! The food is awesome and the price is definitely right!!! The service is fast too. I have been here many times, and have only ever had good experiences. There are so many sushi places in Vancouver, so one that is busy is a good sign, and this place is busy when I go! I would definitely recommend this place if you’re wanting sushi and not wanting to spend a fortune on food at the same time.

If Sushi Man Sushi could talk it would say: «Hot Damn — I serve amazing sushi» The quality is freaking amazing, and the price is low enough for Vancouverites to afford after paying for rent and their dog’s daycare bill. The best dish ever is the Spicy Sushi Combo which involves some form of scallop, tuna, and dynamite roll drizzled in a mouth watering spicy sauce. Sushi Man, I wish there was a Sushi Woman, so your stores could get married and make Sushi Children.

I have been bringing my family here for years and each time the experience has declined. The well portioned food has always been cheap and fast… and has always been the draw. The locals seem to be ok with this at the known cost of sacrificing the poor service. If its your first time dining in don’t sit back thinking that anyone will be bring you the bill… you have to get up and try to blend into the takeout order line to pay. The decline in cleanliness has been the deciding factor for us to say goodbye to sushiman. I think they sweep the floor only once after closing so do watch your step. With a keen eye you will quickly spy that someone has generously applied duct tape all over the place including on the ends of some of the tables, to reinforce the spine of the dirty menus, and on the ends of many cabinets behind the cooking station. The sticky side of duct tape tends to ooze slightly, and while it may address the fraying laminate on the tables and cupboards, it also makes a great base to hold dirt, grime, and germs. Speaking of unsanitary… I would also recommend trying to avoid using their washrooms if you can help it.

First I would like to point out that ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always been a huge fan of sushi. I used to come here because I thought their sushi was okay but I haven’t had a chance to swing by to this restaurant for several years because I found a better restaurant. Recently I decided to come by and order some takeout during lunch time. Unfortunately the quality had somewhat decreased. I had ordered a Nigiri combo. The raw fish portions was okay, it wasn’t special or anything but the rice was where it had disappointed me. I ordered some sashimi and a nigiri combo and taken it home. As soon as I got back, I placed it in the fridge like I always do because I had to do a couple things before I start chowing down on them. As soon as I was ready, I started eating them but immediately I noticed the rice was slightly harder than a average sushi rice should be. Please keep in mind that I often put my sushi in the fridge because I usually have a couple tasks I needed to do first before chowing down whenever I bring my sushi home and I never had a single problem with any other joint’s rice until I had theirs. This is kind of disappointing because I actually did like sushi man when I first ate there several years ago. I guess after a while, as things get more expensive due to inflation, better quality will be harder to find and worsen the quality gets.

Sushiman was a quick stop sushi lunch for me after going to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. I was very impressed with two things: the freshness of the sushi and the price. It was $ 6.95 for two rolls and 1 maki along with a miso soup. Amazing. The salmon was fresh and tasty. The BC Roll had a nice crispy salmon skin that went well with the BBQ sauce. Although a little westernized, I appreciated the cheap meal and good quality fish. My sister ordered the bento box which was packed with food. My mother, who usually doesn’t like Japanese food, did admit that the fish is very fresh and tastier than other places. The miso soup was good and so was the agadeshi tofu! I ended up forgetting my phone in the restaurant and returned about 30 minutes later when back tracking myself. The waiter had kept the phone on hold under the cash register to see if I returned. Honest waiters and service was great! I would bring people here the next time I am in Vancouver!

i went here after finishing the grouse grind. THey churn out california rolls like a machine. The lunch boxes are a great deal. Very tasty. My lunch box included miso soup, beef teriyaki, california roll, salad, and fruit. I also ordered a BC roll which was quite good.

A-OK. It really is. Nothing is especially exceptional about the quality of the sushi here or the décor, but Sushi-Man nails something: price. Their lunch specials allow you to choose from three different rolls of sushi for around 6 bucks, which is a filling amount of food for a mid-day snack and won’t break the bank. The service is friendly and quick, though the taste of the vegetarian sushi leaves a little bit to be desired. I have yet to find a vegetarian sushi that meets the tasty punch of Minato Sushi on Broadway in Vancouver, though I wouldn’t hesitate to visit Sushi-Man again given the chance. Go see for yourself.

This place is good on quantity and presentation but the quality is very bland. The sashimi was very frozen which made my teeth very sensitive. The reason why they get a star rather than two is because the chicken teriyaki was horrible. If you can’t make chicken teriyaki taste good then you shouldn’t be in business. They were lucky we were starving. The service was junk too. Overall very disappointed.

Om nom nomm! Sushi-Man has huuuge Bento boxes for super cheap. I think I’ve fallen in love! Unfortunately I don’t live in or find myself in North Van so this is destined to be a long distance relationship. The food was good and plentiful but the service was a little slow and I may have been gnawing at my arm in hunger by the time they brought me my feast… but I can find it in my heart to forgive the delay!

The Sushiman, for those of you who haven’t been yet, i recommend it for reasons i personally love. The quality of food is excellent and the service matches it. They’re quick to take your order and the food is ready within minutes. Atmosphere is that of a typical sushi bar. If you’re looking to get in, eat some very affordable sushi and get out all within a strict time limit, look no further because the Sushiman is perfect for you. EDIT(Im sorry sushiman, It was an early middle school love that I had for you, while service and portions are great, I’ve just moved onto different kinds of sushi bars that were a bit better. I still recommend this place years later but I usually try going to more hole in the wall places now. Still great prices and quick service but I took a star away because the quality I’ve come to expect just isn’t quite there when it comes to the rolls. Less rice please.)
