Sushi Town in North Van, the décor and ambient was nice. Went here with my boyfriend 2 weeks ago. Interesting how it shares the same building as the McDonald’s. It’s very nicely decorated on the inside and looks and feels very clean and welcoming. Service: We waited about 15 minutes during the peak hours on a Saturday night, not bad. We were served by various servers(typical sushi style, so I’ve noticed). We were asked if we were ready to order 3 times by 3 different servers. It’s OK, 2 times but 3 times is a bit much. First roll, Alaska roll — the rice was very DRY, it’s was very noticeable. The second two rolls that came up were much better, 8 pieces per roll, instead of the 6. Would I go here again, yes but hopefully the rice isn’t dry.

When we arrived, there were at least 20 people in front of us and yet we were seated in about 10 minutes. They had run out of negitoro rolls so we had the negihama instead and at $ 2.95 it’s just as good. Their spicy tuna sashimi is ALWAYS tasty, but if you just want a taste of it go for a ½ order and it’ll set you back only $ 5.95. Beef teriyaki also has a surprisingly generous serving of meat. Our booth seats have holes in them and honestly it’s quite unsightly, so there goes a star. But people come here for value-minded, Korean-styled Japanese, and that’s exactly what they’ll get.

Used to be good… But with success comes complacency. Service is the worst part about this restaurant, they don’t care about customers other than just to deliver food and turn over tables. Just hope you don’t have a problem with your order or find a hair in your tea. As part of the Sushi Garden chain, one of the things they’re known for is portion size and value. Sadly, even that has diminished. Their other location in Burnaby is much better as are their Sushi Garden location.

A couple of my friends recommended trying Sushi Town because of their great spicy tuna sashimi. So after going to the Capilano Suspension Bridge tonight, my boyfriend and I decided to give the place a try. Sushi Town is located on Marine Drive, and shares the same building as McDonalds. A bit strange, but whatever works. But before we get to the food, let’s talk about the service. Less than 5 minutes after being seated, the server asked if we were ready to talk. At the point, we had just undressed(it was super cold outside, so we wore many layers) and started to flip open the menu. We politely replied, «no, we need a couple more minutes.» The server gave a small frown and stormed off. Wow, we were shocked and didn’t understand why she would be mad. It was 7:00pm, and they weren’t closely until 10pm. it was not the last call, nor was the restaurant super busy. Anyways, she was unrightfully rude. We were not impressed at that point. We ordered a chicken udon, tuna & salmon spicy sashimi, dragon roll and salmon avocado roll. The chicken udon was very standard and tasted okay. The tuna and salmon spicy sashimi was not as good as my friends suggested. They raved about it being better than Sushi California, but I disagree. The accompanying radish had a weird, soap-like taste to it. The dragon roll was poorly presented. I do not have the picture with me right now, but it appeared that the avocado was forcefully smashed into the sushi roll. It was not appetizing at all… The salmon and avocado roll should be renamed the«avocado roll with a hint of salmon». The ratio of salmon to avocado was 1:5. Again, it was poorly presented and looked rather disgusting. I felt like put zero effort into the presentation as the sushi fell apart when I tried to pick it up with my chopsticks. I am not sure if that was more of a quality issue, or a presentation one. Nevertheless, the rolls were lacking in presentation and quality. I would not recommend visiting this place ever again. There are way better options out there. Spare your wallet and tummy for something better. I actually had an upset stomach after dining here… I do not recommend.

The food is comparable to other Korean sushi restaurants. The service was pretty bad today. Nobody came to our table to give us more tea. I left our table and walked up to the server to ask for more tea. She said it was coming. Five minutes later I had to ask for it again. We ordered too much and asked for a box to go. It never came. I had to ask for it again five minutes later. I was pretty annoyed. I had already paid for my table early on. I wanted to ask them to refund the tip I gave them. Probably won’t come again.

Probably my favourite sushi on the north shore. My favourites: 1. seafood salad — comes lettuce, noodles, bits of seafood, wasabi aioli and a sweet dressing 2. deluxe chirashi don Korean style, which is made with the same spicy sauce they use for any spicy sashimi. It’s an assortment of chopped sashimi tossed in the sauce and served with rice and lettuce. I usually order the spicy sauce on the side because I find they use too much of it. 3. Red roll — spicy tuna and scallop The service here is not good. I often have to wave someone over to our table.

I don’t know why i continue to go here when I’m in N.Van. The service is terrible here. Every time I go, i leave feeling agitated. I found that the food is good, its cheap. But there is no organization here. I find the service just terrible. No one is smiling, no one greets us. I will not be back. For the amount of other sushi restaurants there are, its not worth my aggravation.

A great place for the money. Its not high end sushi and your not paying high end prices. Sometimes Unilocalers forget that! The salmon/spicy/sashimi is the best deal in town. The half order is huge and its $ 5.50. Service is fast. Stay away from the big fancy goopy rolls, too much sweet runny processed stuff that doesn’t belong on sushi. They best stuff is the simple stuff and the spicy sashimi which breaks that previous rule. Very fast service, girls darting around like wind up dolls! It gets my 5 stars based on cost

This is by far my favourite sushi place in the Vancouver area, and there are MANY sushi places to say the least. The place itself is very clean and their seating areas, bar and booths gives such a comfortable western charm to it. But does the oriental taste of Japanese cuisine hold up? Oh my god, yes it so does. The food there is excellent! The prices there are pretty good too, not the cheapest to be found but definitely not the most expensive either. I highly recommend the spicy tuna and salmon sashimi dish. My god, the spicy sauce they use there is something I still haven’t found anywhere else. The location of that place is hidden pretty well, shared side by side with a McDonald’s, I truly believe that’s why the place is so not that busy, if it was in the open, it would be swarmed by sushi eaters! Plenty of free parking too right on their lot. A must to anyone who like Japanese cuisine, you won’t be disappointed.

One of my favorite Sushi places. Its Korean ran and this place makes me thing of Sushi Garden and Sushi Nanaimo. I really like their spicy salmon sashimi and their prawn tempura. Service is a bit slow but over all I am looking for good food. The portion is quite big. If you go at lunch time its not as busy as dinner time. Everything is made fresh by order. Price is ok. Pretty standard pricing. They do have a shared parking lot with McDonald’s next door and never once did I have trouble finding a parking spot. I have to say it is located in a good location where there are not a lot of competitors nearby.

Came here with the same family member that came with me last time again. This time, the service was much better, they refilled our cups with tea more frequently unlike the first time we came here. Also, the sushi came awfully fast this time(at least the first ones we ordered), the 2nd time that we ordered when we were still hungry took a while longer but still took within an acceptable amount of time. We’ve ordered tuna salmon sashimi + tuna sushi combo(we ordered this one twice). While I still can’t really excuse what happened the first time we came here, but at least this time, they were much better. The only thing sucks was that this time, I was seated literally right in front of the cashier, so I can feel the vibration and the banging every time damn time he or she had opened that damn annoying cash register.

PROS + Cheap prices, large portions CONS — Service is a bit slow — Lacking quality — Poor selection of Deluxe Sashimi RATING Food 2.0÷5.0 Ambience 3.0÷5.0 Service 2.5÷5.0 Price $ Deluxe Assorted Sashimi 25 pcs($ 18.95) consisted of salmon, tuna(substituted for salmon), tai, tako(octopus), amaebi(sweet prawns), hamachi(yellowtail), hokkigai(surf clam) and saba(mackerel). The sashimi was not special to be considered«deluxe» in terms of its selection and the quality. The salmon was not fresh but rather mushy and lacking flavour. I forgot to take a picture of Spicy Salmon Sashimi($ 8.95) but it tasted pretty good due to their signature sweet-spicy sauce(the typical Korean spicy sashimi sauce called chogochujang,). Assorted Tempura($ 7.50) had prawns, zucchini, carrots and potato tempura(2 pieces each). They were pretty good as the batter was well-seasoned and held the crunchy texture nicely. Awesome Roll($ 7.95) consisted of crab meat, cucumber, avocado, mayo(basically the California Roll) inside the roll, topped with salmon, green onion, masago and bonito. The sauce was a bit overwhelming to me, but my mom still enjoyed it. My parents were pretty full by this point but I was still craving more food. I ordered 3 other items including Double Dragon Roll($ 7.95), which consisted of avocado, cucumber, masago, unagi, mayo topped with unagi, avocado, masago, green onion, and sesame seeds. The sauce for the unagi was very subtle and the unagi itself was not fully cooked. It had a very soft texture which I liked about, but it was rather plain in terms of taste. My parents were all stuffed after a few pieces of sashimi and rolls, so I basically finished Chicken Karage 6 pcs($ 3.95) was seasoned well and crispy on the outside holding the juiciness of meat on the inside. But the oil they used was a bit old making the chicken smelly. The Toro Nigiri was not available so I got Chopped Scallop Nigiri($ 1.35) and Hotategai Nigiri($ 1.65) instead. The hotate was rather mushy and lacking a sweet flavour. Overall, the place was okay considering its«very» cheap prices and generous portions compared to all other places. It was a good choice to surprise my parents that it costed only $ 60 after all. My parents were not satisfy with the sashimi, but they still liked the special rolls.

Good food, but the service is really terrible. So many servers and yet few are very rude one. Lack of paper napkins. Most of the server have not adapted themselves to the canadian style serving, they have no smile and have a very bad attitude,… The kitchen staff hardly wear plastic gloves,… Terrible, terrible service.

Ironically, this location shares the parking lot with McD’s…which is sorta a comparison to what Sushi Town is like. It’s basically a fast food sushi joint with cheap prices and turn ‘n burn service. The fish is fresh, but I sense that this place isn’t authentic. You come here with eating quantity versus quality, so if you know this, it’s ok. Still loads better than the majority of sushi places in Toronto, but that doesn’t say much. Special rolls are really big, can be loose, and sometimes slathered in various sauces. A coupla servers came to our table with the wrong order, sometimes they can be dismissive, and rude, but don’t take it personally. They just want you to leave the restaurant ASAP, in order to serve the next party! ;)

This is located beside the McD’s. I came here to get 1 avocado roll and one cucumber roll to go before catching the #240 back home. The service was prompt, than again it was really quiet. Owners were decent and friendly. This location is a lot cleaner and more organized, enough seating for me to work on my journal entry before my sushi was prepared. No attitude for extra soy sauce which was refreshing for a change. Sushi was decent. My only complaint is that they didn’t pack the container properly and almost everything fell out of the container and in the bag. Thankfully my reflexes were in my favor. Very decent prices.

Ok food. Not authentic, Korean owned and the fish is not that fresh. The menu selections are great yet service is extremely poor. Gave it a serious chance, but won’t be back.

Excellent experience! One of the rare occasions we could have a sumptuous meal with top notch fresh sashimi and sushi in a relatively casual environment! Having lived in Japan for a year, this sushi place in Vancouver has exceeded our expectations. We’re impressed! I’d definitely recommend the Toro nigiri. The buttery aftertaste from the fresh toro flavors the rice, creating a perfect, melt-in-your-mouth sensation you’ll never forget! Very satisfying! Another must try is the Dragonroll and the Assorted sashimi with many different kinds of fish. Freshness guaranteed and generous servings of ingredients keeps you wanting for more!!! 10 stars for Sushi town! Yay to discovering you!!!

Sushi Town is conveniently located at Marine Dr with a free parking lot which it shares with the neighbouring McDonald’s. The lobby is quite roomy and probably one of nicest ones I have seen among Sushi places around Vancouver. The service was quick even though the restaurant was fully packed and the food was fresh and had great presentation. I will definitely recommend Sushi Town for a casual first date or a friends night out.
