Probably the best coffee bun in North Vancouver, and probably one of the best I’ve had in Metro Vancouver. This is a popular pastry in Asia. Very soft sweet bun with different fillings and a crisp, cookie-like shell. I picked the vanilla custard because I love custard. It’s a bit expensive at $ 4 each, but it is quite good and baked fresh daily. I’m not sure that it’s worth $ 4, but a plane ticket to Asia definitely costs more. I think when you’re in the mood or have a craving for this type of pastry, it’s nice to know it’s available. The shop is right outside Seabus, on the walkway to Lonsdale Quay market, between the Starbucks and the sushi restaurant.

We decided to try a couple of these coffee buns since we walk pass the little shop all the time. We had earl grey and it great! The filling was smooth, creamy and just sweet enough. The maple one was good too but it was a bit sweet for my liking. But I find that with most maple items.

The Coffee Bun is the pinnacle of a cozy, happy vibe coffee shop with a twist. Who would have thought of committing to making fresh buns daily with flavoured fillings and dipping them in a confection coating for a crunchy taste. Absolutely delicious! To top, their coffee is of highest quality. Organic, and they know how to make their coffee well. I always go for the Americano, smooth and tasty. If you do decide to come here, their music is a little out of my taste. Once in a while they’ll play some sweet jazz. Other times, it’s very distasteful pop music. So maybe bring a pair of headphones or you can take a seat outside in the heart of the quay. They’ve also got wifi for Telus customers! Overall, The Coffee Bun has me coming back whenever I’m on the North Shore looking for a quaint place to study or simply sip on a coffee while waiting for the next seabus.

Simple café, a little drab minus the extensive drink and snack choices. Nice buns although pricey– especially the original but awful drinks as far as the one I ordered which was belgian hot chocolate. The owner made a point to say belgian a few times and kept marketing it. While her daughter was making it, I turned around to take a peek and saw liquid chocolate being poured into my mug(30 cents for each pump — yes, I would know this because I went to a coffee/drinks trade show!). Cost me a pretty penny to get liquid crap in a mug. Never again!

Walking into this place is like walking into my hello kitty kawaii dreams… but I know to be suspicious… what is cute is not always delicious, and this place oozes adorable all over. The location is tucked into a corner of the lonsdale quay by the seabus but is very cute and bright, and smells of luscious vanilla cake and is served by the cutest grandma I’ve ever seen. They serve coffee buns, which is generally a soft fluffy bun with a sweet coffee crust with different fillings which are made all over Latin America, malaysia, and other countries all of which have their own slight differences. You might hear them called rotiboys, papproti, coffee or cookie buns. But here at this adorable little hole in the wall, they serve a delicious Korean style coffee bun, which tastes somewhere between a croissant and doughnut with different fillings covered in a light coffee sugar soft crust. They are amazing and made fresh from scratch every day! We had the vanilla bean custard filled, the white chocolate matcha, the chocolate, and the earl grey. They were just heavenly with a latte and satisfied so many cravings at once. We loved that they used quality callabaut white and dark chocolate in their buns, the real vanilla bean in the custard and that they can make a real decent latte, matcha or otherwise. Something you don’t always see in the more traditional bakeries. I wish however they would move away from kicking horse coffee. So cute, so tasty, and cute. I wanna hug that grandma!

My friends told me to check out this place during a recent trip to Vancouver and described it as a fusion Asian bun. It was delicious! I got the vanilla bean bun and my sister got the earl grey white chocolate one. The vanilla one was so good! The earl grey one was a bit on the sweeter side, but good as a treat! It was a bit on the expensive side, but so worth it! I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m back on the west coast!

It was my first time walking into The Coffee Bun today, and I was surprised that they have many flavours to choose from, such as green tea, earl grey, cream cheese, chocolate, oreo, and many others. As a first-timer, I decided to try their original flavour and it was absolutely delicious! The coffee-flavoured shell was crispy and tasty and the bun itself was fluffy and soft, with melted butter inside. Great texture and flavour together! I will definitely go back to try the other flavours. Side note: The buns are ~$ 3 to $ 4 each, a bit more pricey than one would imagine for a bun, but it was worth it!

A hidden gem located beside the sea bus terminal in North Vancouver! Great to visit anytime during the day. Recommend the ham/cheese/egg bun for breakfast. Earl grey and chocolate buns a must have for dessert or snack!

Fresh coffee buns and strong coffee. Stamp card offers one free bun after you collect seven stamps. Baked fresh daily and various flavours to choose from. I personally prefer this little shop over Papa Roti in downtown because they cost a wee bit more and they use more butter, parking is also harder to find in downtown.

Found this gem one day and I can say I love it! Coffee(I always get the latte) is strong and fresh tasting. Way better than the chain store a few doors down. I’ve had both the original coffee bun and and the earl grey with white chocolate. Both have a crispy topping and a soft bready bun that is just soooo good with my coffee! The original coffee bun is made with melted butter. And the earl grey has a small flavoring in the centre of the bun. It’s perfectly flavoured, not too sweet and not over powering in flavour. I love them!

I had a groupon for the Coffee bun earlier this year. It was a 2 for 1. Interesting concept and I love the outer«shell» that was crispy-ish and the inside was spongy with some filling. These are seriously addicting. They are baked fresh daily. I came here for a latte as well. Some seating but not a lot, however, good place for a coffee meeting and to just chill with friends for a short duration. This is more like a specialty coffee shop than it is a niche bakery. There aren’t a lot of coffee shops like this in the city which is missing. Good change of pace from some of the hipterish places that seem to be popping in like a dime a dozen.

I absolutely love this place. I live in the neighbourhood and come here quite often. The best coffee buns I ever tried, the custard and the original are my favourites, not a big fun of the bean one, but I know its a fave with the Asian customers.

sooooOOO yummmMMMerrs! my partner and i stumble upon this cutie bakery with a catchy name«coffee bun» both of my two most favourites in one! At first, my partner was a bit skeptical with the buns(as she always is with every food we try) so i did tried the coffee bun with crème cheese, and man! i tell you, this is sooooOOO yummmMMMerrs! Let’s start off with the crunchy outside layer of the bun with a hint of coffee flavour and when you take a bite, it has this almost«marshmallow» softness center! It is so divine and out of this world ridiculously good! I feel bad for the lady working there because she is by herself but she was consistent with her customer service. To wrap it all up, ambiance is cute but needs more tables and chairs. customer service is consistent. Coffee bun is out of this world!

There’s not much to say expect, SUPERBLYDELICIOUS! I became a fan! The best part of my morning besides waking up was looking forward to coming in and trying the new flavors during my stay in Canada. I enjoyed two flavors at a time with my greedy butt! Lol The customer service is excellent, clean place and def a must have!!! I don’t want to leave without trying all the flavors.

Food: Everything is baked fresh, especially the buns~ Recommended to eat on the spot! ^^ They are crunchy on the outside but fluffy and soft on the inside yet not too mushy, and they are so many filling options. I could eat one everyday if I lived close to here. Service: Very friendly staff Value: Not your average Asian bun, on the expensive side Ambiance: A cute coffee shop on the Quay, when it’s nice, you can sit outside to enjoy your pastries as the shop itself is fairly small.

Those coffee buns are absolutely delicious, and it’s a parisian telling you this ! Soft, fluffy, tasty and not too heavy. Those little buns are heavenly. My favorites so far are the hazelnut and the cream cheese. The only downside I find in this location is the coffee that could be better(I don’t like that«kicking horse» coffee, which is very bitter and has a cat piss aftertaste). I still have to try their grilled cheese sandwiches.

The coffee buns here are excellent and outshine PappaRoti in every aspect. To be honest, I can’t go into much detail but they’re just very fluffy, light, and not too sweet. I would say that the coffee buns here are one of my favourite Asian pastries. They have a myriad of flavours but by the time we got there(near closing) they only had the original left, which still impressed us! Next time, I definitely want to try the cream filled or the tiramisu bun,

Coffee bun! Smells so good! taste so sweet and crunchy. right by the entrance of lonsdale market-you can smell the coffee from the crust of each bun! the crust holds well and does not crumble or falls apart from the rest of the bun. they have different flavors: original, custard, etc.

Something this good can only come from ONE place: Malaysia. Founded in a small town on Penang Island, Malaysia, this delightful splendour of a bun has found its way gloriously to Vancouver. A little part of me thought twice and thrice before writing this review. It’s one of those places, so good that you can’t help but feel a little selfish. Well, now that this gem is out there, HAVEATIT! Be warned: these delights don’t come cheap. It’s $ 3 per bun. Worth every penny and every calorie. The word«delicious» doesn’t quite put things in perspective. Try not to get addicted. Just try. The original coffee bun is best served hot and fresh. If you can wait for a fresh batch, DO! The others have been stuffed with various ingredients: dark chocolate, red bean, hazelnut cream, etc. When all else fails, there is always dark chocolate! The people behind the counter are family. As I’ve said many times before, I adore a family business; especially when it’s kept firmly within the family. So far, I’ve only met the mother and daughter. It warms my heart. After some time, they’ll have to start naming a bun after me. Plus, I’m going to get F-A-T.
