The man who runs this place is the sweetest man in all of Ottawa. He is so kind and friendly it makes you feel so welcome and really makes you want to come back. The London fog is the best one I’ve had in Ottawa. Hands down. I’ve also had the hot chocolates and mochas which he makes with real chocolate chips melted into the milk. You have the choice of milk, dark, or white chocolate. It’s cool to see him do that infront of you. The crepes are something else. The savoury ones come with a very tasty side salad(using greens not lettuce because the man cares about taste). They are absolutely amazing. Everything you never knew you needed in life. Everytime I go, I think about the crepes for weeks after. I can remember the taste just thinking about it! So. Damn. Good. The only downside is the size of the place, since sometimes there are no seats. But if you go before the usual Wellington west lunch crowd, it’s such a nice cozy place! The kids who come down from fisher are a definite downside as well but they are all but unavoidable at that time of day in this part of the city. But he treats them well and with respect which is admirable and not something all the business owners on this street do. I wish I could order delivery from this place but it’s one of the few places I don’t mind going to eat at. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent service, quality food, vegan options! Tween & teen were happy! Looking forward to returning! YUMAZING! Tried the English crêpe, The Cordon Blue, The chicken pesto, the vegan cheese steak, the Canadian, the classic chocolate, strawberry and banana! The BROWNIE is a must try! The dark & white hot chocolates were delicious! Thank-You for creating this!

The tireless owner is alway friendly and greets you with a big smile. The air is wafting with the smell of crepes and molten chocolate and everything looks delicious. I like to stop in here for a piece of chocolate covered candied ginger. I’ve had the hot chocolate in the past and it is scrumptious. My husband usually gets a crêpe(they’re huge), and it’s filled with chocolate. While we were visiting, another customer broke a plate and the owner was responsive and didn’t get fussed about it and made sure everyone was ok.

Loved this place! A nice variety of crepes both sweet and savory. Went with The ‘French Crêpe’(Brie and Mushroom) and was not disappointed. Coffee was excellent too. Plan to return on next visit to Ottawa.

I had heard about their chocolate hazelnut spread and yes, it’s out of this world. Nothing like nutella. It’s much creamier and less sweet and just simply good. They have both milk and dark and both are excellent. I had a feta, spinach, sausage crêpe which was really good. The crêpe itself was so good that I also got a crêpe with the hazelnut chocolate spread but somehow combining 2 excellent things did not make a 3rd. Not sure why… I took home a death by chocolate brownie but there’s an odd soapy/earthy flavor to it. The texture is excellent but that flavor won’t let me finish it. My cappuccino was a bit bitter and harsh for me. I typically don’t add sugar. But that may be to some people’s taste. My daughter’s hot chocolate was served in a teapot which was novel and it was rich and sweet but somehow properly sweet. I’d give 5 stars for the chocolate hazelnut spread and savory crêpe but the place is inconsistent so I’d like to give 3.5.

Here’s a small coffee shop(and creperie) snuggled in the heart of westboro where its easy to relax and and enjoy a slower pace. The owner here goes above and beyond to make sure everyine is satisfied. And the crepes, well you“d be hard pressed to find any better in Ottawa. Thursday nights are acoustic night if your looking for a bit of entertainment, the ambiance is chic yet comfortable. Ghis is place worth visiting.

I went here for dinner. I know what you’re thinking — a chocolate place for dinner? The crepes are amazingly good. I was a bit weary ordering a savory crape. Sometimes I find the crapes too sweet for a savory crape but this isn’t the case with A Thing for Chocolate. I ordered the pesto chicken crape and I was more than pleased. I’ve also had the hot chocolate from A Thing for Chocolate — very good. I overestimated the large size and underestimated the small size. The small is more than enough hot chocolate. I had the dark hot chocolate and was quite pleased. This is a great place to go for lunch/dinner or a stop for a sweet tooth! Note: There is a table in the back that is good for small groups: around 6−8ish people.

If you’re looking for the perfect place for a first date, a spot to catch up with your close friend, or a place to drown your sorrows in chocolate, this is it. A small café that feels like a home, this place boasts delicious crepes, both sweet and savoury, as well as chocolate drinks, specialty chocolate, cakes, and other delicious chocolate goodies like homemade chocolate chips, créme brûlée, tartes, brownies and more! My sister and I came here for a quick snack before getting groceries, and ended up being tempted by their delicious crepes. We both opted for the seasonal special — crêpe with seasonal fruits and dark or milk chocolate. I went for dark, and and she got milk. I also ordered a drink whose name I can’t remember, but was a mix of espresso and Bernard Callebeau chocolate. It was AMAZING! The perfect pick me up on a cold day. They also have vegan crepes! As for a date night, I would totally recommend their chocolate fondue for two. Marshmallows and fresh fruits dipped in yummy Callebeau chocolate! Omar, the owner and operator, is kind and friendly and knows his chocolate! I hope this place sticks around for awhile — it’s a gem in Wellington West!

Pretty good prices for crepes on Wellington, since everything is pretty pricey. Tastes good.

This would probably be a solid 3.5 stars based on this(my first) visit, if only I was able to award half-stars. Bear in mind this is not for the full dine-in experience — I say this with the caveat that I definitely have to eat here one day — and then I can re-evaluate this shop on that event. The name of the shop is a little deceiving — it’s actually a combination store and restaurant, although there are not too many tables. I expected a store only. Then, as I walked in, my nose counselled me differently. It smells like a bit of Heaven in here! The first thing you see as you walk in is crepes being cooked on those special crêpe griddles, then you get the gist of the experience! If only I had known, as I had only just eaten! The purpose of this visit was simply to pick up a gift for a colleague. It seems to have been worth it! They sell a small variety of chocolate truffles. I wish they had more varieties, but still managed to get a small box, which was wrapped in a lovely box with a window on top, and then I was offered a matching gift bag. Perfect! I had the luck of meeting the chocolatier(??! If that’s his title? He’s the man who makes the chocolates.) He told me that his little jewels were all gluten free. Good to know! I will keep this place in mind for a future visit, and I will have to try some of their chocolate yumminess for myself! Can’t wait! Let’s see what we have to celebrate…

I went there for a date. It’s a quaint beautiful place. The crepes are HUGE and taste AMAZING. Honestly the best crepes I’ve ever had. The owner, Omar was definitely a big part of this rating. He has such a nice attitude and his talent shines. Meeting him definitely put a smile on our faces and the food was incredible.

From the sight of the sign on the door, I knew this would be good! «a day without chocolate is like a day without sunshine». Ohhh how I can relate! The blend of warm crepes, home-y decore and the sounds of Edith Piaf made it seem like a detour to a small crêpe shop in Paris! We had a savoury crêpe and 2 sweet ones. Best crêpe outside of Paris(including places from Toronto and Montréal)! Perfect balance of filling to crêpe; soft but not soggy in the middle, and chrispy around the edges. Great new addition to the Wellington area!

I had an almond milk hot chocolate and it was crazy delicious. I even got to pick my choice of white, milk, or dark chocolate in it. My wife got a dark hot chocolate and loved it, and she liked the chocolate covered ginger so much she brought home several more. It’s a great place and I’ll probably go back.
