Smyth & Company is an established law firm consisting of five lawyers located on the Coquitlam/​Port Coquitlam border. The focus of our practice is family law.

We represent clients from all areas of British Columbia, Canada, the United States and other parts of the world. We conduct cases at every level of court in British Columbia including Provincial Court, BC Supreme Court and BC Court of Appeal.

History

Established in 1995.

Ms Smyth formed Smyth and Company in 1995 at Suite 330, 2755 Lougheed Highway, Port Coquitlam, BC with an expertise in family law. The firm has grown to include three additional lawyers who are associated in the practice of family law, as well as skilled support staff.

Ms Smyth, as the senior litigator in the firm, has experience in complex family law litigation including matters with significant assets and support issues as well as complex legal issues.

Ms Smyth has been an accredited family law mediator since 1996 and has been a panelist on numerous continuing education courses related to personal injury, family law mediation and negotiation skills.

Ms Smyth was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1984, having obtained her law degree from the University of British Columbia. She articled and remained associated with a mid-​sized Burnaby law firm practicing general civil litigation, and family law as well as acting as an agent for the Federal Crown.

Ms Smyth has appeared as all levels of courts throughout the province of British Columbia, including the British Columbia Court of Appeal and has had numerous cases reported relating to noteworthy legal matters.
