The Clean Machine

The previous reviewer got it bang-​on.
This place got the dust off my car, but that’s about it. If your car is actually dirty and not just dusty, I suggest you go elsewhere.
However, if you get the Groupon deal and your car is not very dirty, this place is fine. Plus, the guys who work there are very nice. Two stars for them — zero for the car wash.

For a car wash, the bottom line is whether or not the car comes out clean. Unfortunately, at The Clean Machine, it doesn’t come out clean. I’ve been there 4 times (using groupon and livingsocial coupons). The first time was over a year ago, and I gave it another try because I got a great deal on a 3 wash coupon this year.
The service: when you get there you have to either pay to get through a railway type gate, or if you have a coupon you have to wait until the attendant comes and gets the coupon details. When you get more than one on a coupon, they will give you car wash vouchers which you can use, but you still have to get the attendant to come over to take them (it is basically a business card with the manager’s signature on it). Once you get through the gate, the attendant takes a power washer and sprays the tires and sides of the car for about 2 – 5 seconds, then as you start to go through the machine he will take another 2 – 5 seconds scrubbing the back of the car with a brush. I really think this is for show, as the back of the car is left with dirty streaks and the tires are left pretty much the way the car came in.
The Machine: The rest is the machine. The machine runs through really fast, I think I was out of there in well under a minute. This is not a touchless wash. This machine sprays some soap and water on the car first, but the bulk of the washing is a bunch of towels hanging over the car waving back and forth as the car goes through and two spinning cleaners with towels slapping the sides of the car. Some of the large flat areas of the car were pretty clean, but the front grill, back (bumper and plate), and anywhere there is any deviation from a flat surface (like mirrors and the edges of the windows) were left pretty much untouched. Then the machine has a few blowers that run for 15 – 20 seconds as you leave the machine.
I have had many touchless car washes that were far, far, far superior to this. The touchless washes at least allow the car to soak for a minute or so before spray-​cleaning, and they allow for better and more even application of wax. They also give more time to clean and to dry.
The first time I went to the Clean Machinie, I thought to myself that I wouldn’t go back. As is often the case, my memory failed me and I was sucked in by the low price coupon. However, the wash left so many areas untouched, that I could not tell it was just washed. After 4 washes, I am now sure that I have no reason to go back to the Clean Machine. I’ll either go to a touchless wash or do it myself.
That said, the people were friendly enough.
