Black Rabbit Tattoo Studio

I felt so uncomfortable during my experience here. I ended up paying the deposit and not coming back for the tattoo. First off, I am a girl with a few tattoos. At the time, I only had one simple tattoo. The lady at the front desk made me feel like I came into the wrong store. I brought my best friend with me and both her and I felt very out of place rather than feeling greeted and welcomed.
Once I got to my consultation with Leanne, she kept the uncomfortable feeling going. She would say things like this was my first «real tattoo» and the one I already had didn’t count because it was so small. She also seemed to be very busy and I felt like quite a burden. After about a 5 minute meeting, we scheduled my appointment.
I came in a week later after paying the deposit. Walking into my appointment, the artist still had no drawing sketched up. She quickly began sketching something (which I felt should’ve happened during the consultation). I did not like the size and design and made some pointers on how I wanted it to be different. I told her I wanted a very light design and did not want any heavy shading, as well as a smaller tattoo. She denied my pointers and said the tattoo wouldn’t look good smaller and the shading will be better. At that moment, I had a gut feeling I shouldn’t get my tattoo here. I left the studio and never looked back. Although, my $ 70 went straight into their pockets for an awful experience, I rather that than have a dark, large tattoo on my arm.
I ended up going to a different studio and adore my tattoo!

I got my first tattoo here by Leanne, she worked pretty fast and I get tons of compliments! I’m going back later this month for more work by her. I saw someone called her rude, I think she was just having a bad day because she was a sweetheart to me. When I left I was confident I had a clean tattoo, all new needles and tips then she gave me a complete run down on after care. She put a lot of detail (I was way impressed) and drew up exactly what I wanted with no picture references!

Sometimes everything just goes so very right!!!
I see Leanne Thief and it’s always the best experience. Pretty much adore her. Great communication, fantastic illustration, super professional, clean and full of goodtimes.
And I always get exactly what I am looking for. Cannot recommend her enough, but I still tell every awesome person I know to contact her.
Well worth the commute out to Port Moody from Vancouver. I am basically just always waiting for my next chance to visit again!

Terrible… Just terrible. I came to black rabbit for my first tattoo. I ended up with a incredibly rude artist named Leanne Thief. I had an extremely short consultation with her before I booked my appointment. Thinking that this was the norm I went along with it. She urged me to send her the picture of the tattoo I wanted by email. When I asked why she told me it couldn’t be done any other way. So I did and I came back to get the tattoo done and guess what! She did not alter the design at all as I had requested… It was simply the exact same picture that I had sent to her by email. When I asked her to add another word onto it she added it in and free handed it. The writing was done so small that no one can even read what it says. It was a few years ago and I was debating having it lasered off that’s how bad it was. Now I am going to Sinister Skin it’s only 10 minutes down the road (if that) and I am seeing Sam. I cannot wait to have it covered up. By the way there was bleeding from the ink on my tattoo and I have been told by many professionals that it was because she had no clue what she was doing and she went too deep into the skin. So thanks a lot. DO NOT GO HERE. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE A TATTOO IS FOREVER. DO NOT GO HERE. Oh and as an additional note when I had asked her about how to care for the tattoo I had simply asked if Vaseline was okay. Rather than responding In a nice and professional way she was incredibly rude about it asking me «when did I mention Vaseline?!?» Okay I’m done venting. ENJOY.

Over the past year and a half I have had the opportunity to see some really amazing work coming out of this shop. Clients from Black Rabbit Tattoo come in to our clinic to get old tattoo’s lightened so that they can go back to get their new work put on. We always ask to see their new work as its really unique and the art is well done. The clients tell us that it is exactly what they want, and in most cases they have had other work done by this shop that they are really happy with or they know people that have had great ink done by them.
Have not heard a bad thing about this shop from anyone I encounter and I like what I see. Will post a photo & a review update on the tattoo I get if I decide to go through with it.

This tattoo shop is my new favorite shop! I love the artists work and everything about this place.
I have tattoos from both Christina and Leanne. They were very professional and didn’t mind making any changes I wanted.
They were very accommodating when it came to booking the appointments after the consultations. Christina had me in within the week and Leanne had me in within 3 weeks (might have been 2 weeks).
Next I will need to get one from Birdie to complete my collection of tattoos from Black Rabbit!

Love the fact that it’s female owned and operated. Unique shop. Clean and cool décor. I especially liked «Birdie’s» personality — very friendly, nice and welcoming.
Not so with Leanne. She’s not that friendly and she made a spelling mistake on my husband’s tattoo… and it was a tattoo that already had the correct spelling, but was being touched up! She misspelled the word «Always» wrong. spelling it Alwyas. We didn’t notice it until we left the shop (and my husband had given her a $ 20.00 tip for the touch up, which I think she should have given back). So we had to make yet another trip there, paying tolls, etc. Leanne offered to fix it, but it’s difficult to fix the letter «y» hanging down. She covered it with white. It still looks sucky and we were very disappointed.
My daughter and her husband had horrible tattoos (finger ring tattoos) done there also, which they have had to pay to have fixed at another tattoo shop. Do not get a tattoo done by Leanne!!!
PS — just wanted to add a PS here and explain that my husband needs glasses for reading and was not wearing them at the time :)

Female owned and operated tattoo shop! A dream come true!
This place feels like home. From the beautiful décor, to the friendly staff, to the knowledgeable and talented artists, I wouldn’t want my skin to be permanently decorated anywhere else.

I really love this shop if you see birdy (tattooist there) I know from the tattoos I have (a full sleeve) that the tattoos I have from birdy are well done. I can’t vouch for the rest of the shop but for my tattoo apt the tattooist was on time! On that note I guess I should add the lady I use to see moved out if the province which left me looking for an artist in Vancouver that was bright and colorful. It took me a while, all the other artist I was looking at in van seemed all the same, but stumbling across this tattoo shop I found what I was looking for! Color!!! Cartoony yes but that’s what I like and it was fantastic. Birdys art is unique and listens to what I want but makes sure it looks good. It took her about a week to get my art finished and the tattoo booked in. her lines and color healed really well and she shop was friendly and clean. The receptionist Lindsey was great too she got me a tea while I was getting tattooed not that it was easy to drink at the time but it was nice and I really was overall really happy with my tattoo. Really I would and have suggested a lot of my friends to go here and am happy to say the same to all you guys!

Everywhere I go, my birds travel with me and get to take Leanne’s beautiful ink work along. There are six; the littlest one is my favorite, her name is Thief. The largest one flies when I climb. It’s just the first chapter and they are already a part of me. Leanne’s manner is professional, and her art is beautiful. The shop is comfortable and inviting. I sent in a few ideas before the sitting and the results were exactly what I wanted. I look forward to having Leanne illustrate the next piece of the series. ~c.
