Painting is one of the most delicate yet wildly expressive mediums around. It is also a great way to either introduce your children into the arts or to mold the latent talents of the little Frida Kahlo, Jose Clemente Orozco, or Picasso in the family. Renowened oil painter Evelia Espinosa holds painting classes for kids in the Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody area yet children from all around the Lower Mainland come to fine tune their talents with a brush on canvas.

History

Established in 2004.

Since I arrived to Canada, I set up my own studio in the Tri-​Cities. I have been a part of the Coquitlam community for 11 years and It has been my centre of refuge, where I continue painting and developing my talent. My tendency is to paint picturesque, old Mexican towns with stone streets and houses made of sun-​dried brick with terracotta roof tiles. As well, I create still life of vibrant colored flowers in traditional mud vases. I’ve attempted to instill my roots as a Mexican yet have my own style.

I enjoy teaching kids and helping them to discover their little artist. Nothing builds a child’s confidence better than discovering their own ability to use their imagination and see it transformed into something tangible before their eyes, by their own hand.
