Oh Bubble Fruity how I am so torn about you. Why am I torn? I love(certain) Chinese style desserts. Black sesame paste? Check! Mango Saigo with tapioca? Check! Insane line ups and chaotic environment that reminds me of Hong Kong? Check! It was literally a mass of people when we went after dinner for this cash only place. We ordered the above as well and the almond paste, and it was totally mix of reviews. The 2 pastes were very sub par. In fact the almond paste was more of watery almond mix versus a thick soup. I was very disappointed in it. The black sesame paste wasn’t sweet at all… although in all fairness i could have added sugar, I like it come out how I want! The mango saigo? Now that… that was refreshing. And totally hit the spot. The mango provides the flavour while the tapico provides a nice texture. I’d go back for that one and that one alone

I’ve been here many times. The food tastes good, dont get me wrong. However. They increased their prices on the menu. Fresh mango use to be approx. $ 6, now its $ 10 to add fresh mango to your dessert. Same goes for the durian. It use to be approx $ 6, now it’s $ 8. I usually order mango sago with fresh fruit mango, but I can’t justify paying an additional $ 10 just to add mango to my dessert.

This place is at a right location with nice feel of Downtown Richmond but it’s not an extraordinary bubble tea shop. Also, I they don’t server any ice cream bubble tea and the food is OK. If your looking to hookup with SUPERRICHKIDS of Richmond this is a to go place in late afternoon or a hot sunny day. Who know you end up with your life partner here, who will be paying your bills for LIFE.

Best Asian dessert place in town! Love the durian sago with fresh slices of durian on top — not for everyone though. All the other Asian dessert there is amaze-balls! There is usually a wait if you want to sit in and eat but I’m willing to drive down to Richmond just to pick it up and enjoy it at home. Must go place :)

I always order the taro coconut milk pudding with sago seeds w/sesame balls. The quality is superb. It’s a bit pricey compared to other dessert places but i feel it’s worth it

When you walk in, it reeks or pleasantly smells of durian. Which one it is, depends on the person. No comment. This place is always busy and packed. I’ve been here twice now and the desserts are good. I like tapioca and cream. coconut milk or whatever it is. It’s yummy. This 2nd time I went, I tried the Mango Sago with Grapefruit because my friend said it was the dish that you had to get if they had it. I listened. And it was okay — I don’t love mango flavored things(not all Asians do, okay?) and the grapefruit was slightly frozen. I’m sure some people love this, but I preferred the taro sago I had the first time I went. OH and the best part is, after reading reviews before going the 2nd time, I read a tip to ask for fresh mango chunks or you’ll just get purée. WELL we asked. And they said, «if you want it, it’s $ 10 extra.» And we said… «for all 3 of us?»(obviously right, a $ 10 mango is already ridiculous??) And they said… «No, $ 10 each.» A $ 30MANGO! Golden. I will go back. But not listen to what anyone tells me. I’d give it 3.5.

Good desserts! My fave is the black sesame paste with sesame balls(+$ 3 add on). Totally worth it. Place is small, like the reviews say, but I come for takeout.

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on September 3rd and decided to book mark it for future reference. I really had high hopes for this place especially considering how some Unilocalers whose other reviews I enjoy heavily praised this place. For starters it is a small place. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall. Normally I don’t mind hole in the wall places but turned me off was that there was a nauseating smell. I’ve been to a lot of HK style cafes and familiar with the smells but this was bad like something had died. I tried to order but the smell just overwhelmed me too much that I just had to leave. They’re really close to the train station and I am willing to give them another chance in a few days. This may be on off day something beyond their control. On a side note their menu is extensive, however, the majority of their desserts are nut based puddings. Very dirt cheap prices.

Good for sitting down and relaxing, the owners are pretty chill Desserts are mostly $ 5. You have to pay extra if you want to throw in some ice cream, rice ball, etc etc

I had their hot walnut paste before and that was ok. But the issue is with the cold walnut paste, that was too sweet. It was so sweet that my throat stung at the end. I felt a bit sick from the over sweetness. I don’t think this thing is healthy. It was pretty deadly, lethal. I don’t think I will be coming back. or maybe if I do definitely having something else.

+.5 for service A Unilocal search on dessert places near Shanghai River brought me here. I’m personally not too crazy on dessert after a large meal, but I figure it’s a Vancouver thing to do since I was on vacation. This place was extremely busy when I went on a Friday night at 10pm, and I had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. I ordered the mango sago, which is roughly what I usually order in dessert places(mango pudding). It tasted quite good, although I’ve had better in places in my hometown of Markham. The prices were quite steep compared to what I normally get for dessert food(it was $ 5 for the mango sago). Service was great, as the employees were really working hard to cope with the demand of this place. I found the overall treatment to be very good and the employees treated the customers decently. Considering the huge praise for Asian food in Richmond, this was the best place that came up in the Golden Village area. If that was the best Richmond could offer, I would have to say the GTA has better dessert places.

I had high hopes for this place but it was crowded, overpriced for what you get, and the service was terrible. I agree with some of the reviewers on here that mango syrup they use taste like it came from a can. Overall it was not a good experience and I will not be returning.

This place was crowded on a Friday night. We ordered the Mango Sago with cream and grapefruit. It’s pretty good but I find it overpriced for $ 5.00. I’ll have to figure out what the locals are ordering, and when I return, I will update this review and probably add an extra star or two for my rating. I’m only giving it 3 stars tonight since I wasn’t overly impressed with the dessert I ordered, but there must be other better desserts here because the place was packed and very popular! The owner or manager is a nice elderly man. Much respect to him for keeping up with orders from a bunch of loud teens to 20-somethings. Not my type of crowd on a Friday night since there’s a bunch of obnoxious teens or college kids outside smoking, but the place is very quiet and pleasant in the daytime for lunch.

3.5 stars. This place is packed. We waited about 30 minutes for a few desserts. They could really improve the layout for ordering or seating. It’s really chaotic and hard to tell where the line starts. Getting seating is a free-for-all. And one girl got yelled at by the staff for not getting out of the way when they were bringing food out, even though there was no where else to stand. The desserts are good, but I’m not sure about the value. Each dessert comes out to $ 5. — Black sesame paste– good and not too sweet — Red bean soup– comes with«rose» flavor and orange peels, smells good, tastes standard — Mango sago cream– my favorite, this is like a mango purée with sago(small tapioca pearls) topped with grapefruit. The«mango flavor sago cream» does not have grapefruit. — Durian flavor sago cream– stinks like durian, no actual fruit in this one

Overpriced for how simple and subpar in taste the desserts were. The mango pomelo dessert tasted like mango nectar straight from a can. The durian sticky rice ball was a measly 4 rice ball that was in this diabetic-inducing sweet syrup. I kept thinking there’s a great market opportunity in Vancouver for Asian dessert shops. The unsatisfying dessert made me miss the Phoenix dessert chain in Los Angeles.

Simple, small dessert café. Came in with my family during a trip to Vancouver, and we all ordered different items, ranging from durian sago to green bean soup to sweet soft tofu. It was all pretty good actually and reasonably priced. The durian was a solid flavor but not crazy overpowering. The mango sago was really good, and the soft tofu was pretty standard as well. Service was prompt and quick. It’s a really simple system — pick a seat, grab some menus, order, pay when you’re done. Good for small groups to come and hang out a bit. A good option if you need to satisfy your sweet tooth.

****BUSINESSOPPORTUNITYINRICHMOND — INNEEDOFGOODCHINESEDESSERTPLACE — PLEASEOPEN**** This is the header for my review, cause really, this used to be my ‘go to’… like guaranteed satisfaction when I am looking for Chinese desserts. I had to look back at when I wrote my 5 star review… have things changed, and definitely not for the better. This place used to produce some damn freaking good dessert, on any given day there could be a pretty good line-up. sometimes out the door. It still is this way sometimes when I come by, but after giving it two good tries recently I’m ripping this place for what it is. You couldn’t keep the quality up to par, and also the prices have gone up… how does that work, I can understand if quality and quantity have gone up… but I’m paying more now for crappy dessert… NO! I am a mango fanatic when it comes to Chinese sweets, after going through a few in Hong Kong on two seperate trips this year, and still craving it, this place popped back in my mind. and why not after so many people, including myself have raved about this place. Coming in, don’t expect much service, don’t expect a place to take any form of plastic, and don’t expect any pretty pictured menu with a ton of selection. There is seating here, and usually they are playing Fairchild Chinese TV in here. Parking, it’s all paid as it is only street parking, no real big deal if you are here just for a quick pick up. Service, well you just order at the counter, it is even the case when you are sitting at a seat here, go up. order. It seems like the last two times I was here the old couple seems to have been a little jaded… my opinion. as there are no smiles, no asking how the food was, nothing — if the business is going good and reaping the rewards… what needs to be changed? Quality… I used to say this place had quality in the desserts, right to the freshness of the stuff being put in their stuff. The only fresh thing here now is that big watermelon I saw at the counter that was uncut… the mango sago dessert I had felt like canned overly sweet purée, barely any mango slices(actually none last time), the other time I ordered grass jelly and mango and they even cheaped out on the grass jelly, what does this stuff go for… under $ 1 a can? A few slices of mango(probably bought from the overly ripe isle of some supermarket clearing it out) and a whole lot of canned mango sauce(I won’t even call it purée). As I said, it’s nothing like what it was before. I had a try of my significant other’s peanut ‘sauce’ dessert, and she added two black sesame rice balls, they chaged her $ 3 more… Three bucks? $ 1.50 each, wow times must be tough to charge this much. The rice balls, I must say the glutinous outside was perfect, not too gooey chewy, and not too thick. then getting to the inside, get me a glass of water… I’ve never had black sesame paste this sweet… bring the glass of water so I could rinse my mouth. If anyone wants to make some money in Richmond, and can do any Chinese desserts with good quality, care, and taste, I guarantee you will make a killing. The extra star(the second) is the fact that you still have better Chinese desserts than most places in Richmond… and that is really a sad thing as isn’t Richmond ‘World’ known for it’s Chinese food…

This is probably my favourite place in Vancouver for classic Hong Kong desserts. Most of the menu items here are in the $ 4-$ 5 range and are well portioned. They do require everybody to order at least one item I believe but that’s quite easy since we normally order a few to share! My favourites here are the glutinous rice balls with black sesame paste filling and the mango pomelo sago mixture which are both staples in traditional Hong Kong dessert shops. The staff are friendly(to us) but I guess service here can be really a hit or miss since I have heard bad things as well. In general, they tend to take vacations or days off without much notice so I have come here several times when they were just closed with no reason. Prices are quite cheap though compared to eating dessert at somewhere fancier(and farther away) such as Thierry or even somewhere like cactus club so it’s nice to have something cheap and delicious nearby! PS: If you want a hot soup dessert then I would definitely recommend the black sesame soup with tofu!

This seems more like a small family business as there wasn’t much of anything that stood out in particular. The place was very small in area with only about 5 small tables and even the menu had only about 15 or so items to choose from. The specialty of this place are the Chinese soupy desserts which vary from Black Sesame, Tapioca, peanut paste and other shaved ice offerings. I had gotten the black sesame since that is one of my favorites of all desserts and it was especially good with the added black sesame balls to boot. I thought that only giving 2 balls was not enough and that they should have given a couple more as they were not included on the menu and had to be ordered separately. Not sure if it was worth it, but good for a one time try.

That instant you open the door and a giant whiff of sweet, delectable durian fills your nostrils into your lungs, you know this this place is THE place. For some, that might create a sense of unwanted fear, but to me, it’s one of the best things on earth. Durian brings nothing for absolutely joy to my life, Craving fresh durian for the longest time, I finally was introduced to this café to fulfill my search. With a menu that makes my heart flutter and reminisce my childhood trips to Taiwan, I picked the durian sago with basil seeds immediately. I was going to indulge in a heaven like no other. With a bit of Canadian left and due to the cold breeze outdoors, I also ordered the sesame ball soup. My two orders might show others my deep love to indulge in sweets, but it’s nothing less of a depraved soul wanting to have something good. The durian sago was immensely durian-esque with good size pieces of durian sitting atop the sago. The basil seeds added a texture of the old crackle candy that kids ate, but with less spasmic intention. I had forgotten what good durian tastes like. Having been brainwashed by the frozen American version, I was taken back by the slight tang it put on my tongue. After another bite, I felt like Ratatouille; I was having an epiphany of «KABOOMS» and«POWWOWS» in my mouth. Price wise, it is very cheap. All in all, this was the perfect dessert to end my day.
