Have been there twice and loved it ! Food was amazing, staff professional and oh that interior so beautiful !!! Really great steak house !! Definitely recommend !

Embarrassing from beginning to end.
I stopped counting the stereo speakers once I reached thirty, and the effect was like being in a night club rather than a restaurant.
The seat upholstery was so soiled and threadbare that one could be forgiven for thinking that a group of Wildebeest had bedded down there the night before.
The wait staff were extremely young, scantily clad, unprofessional, and had all the sophistication of little girls who had just raided their mother’s make-​up cabinet.
When the food arrived, I did a double take: a steak the size of my clenched fist, and a smattering of french fries, and all for a price that was crippling.

I have been to Chop for dinner before. Their food and service was worth the extra bit of $. But tonight will be my last visit to this restaurant.
The server was unprofessional. He was not properly dressed. He was disappointed when we asked for tap water instead of bottled. He was flustered and confused at his own ordering system. He could not keep track of 7 meals. He repeated several times and empathized that my friend was not ordering a drink. When I indicated that he may have confused our meals, he repeated our order to prove a point (not to confirm politely). He was quite rude! Furthermore, he indicated that it was «difficult» to separate our appetizers into three separate bills. Rather than being «difficult» customers, we said we would separate the appetizers manually.
After ordering our meals, the issues continued to arise. He served the soup to the wrong person (minor error). However, while we were enjoying our appetizers, our entrées arrived. The appetizers, the share plates and the drinks have occupied the entire table. It was impossible to place those huge entrées plates on our table. We had to send the meals back and have them send our server over.
Although he apologized for the premature entrées, the damage was already done. The steak we sent back was kept warm until the table was cleared. When we received our entrée, the rare steak became medium rare. The wasabi on the ahi tuna was more than what I would put on sashimi. It should not bring tears to my eyes. The «chop experience» was absolutely terrible.
After our meal, we waited 15 mins for our bill and another 20 mins for the credit card machine. The time frame would be alright, but during these 35 mins, he walked by our table many times. We also asked for the machine twice. This experience is one of the worse. I would not pay extra $$$ for this terrible experience again.

Service was very unprofessional. Entrée came while all the appetizers and sharing plates are still at the table. Definitely no room for more plates. Food wasn’t good or impressive at all. Below average for tasting. And what’s with wasabi in everything? Even kids meal have wasabi in it? WTH? The night ended with a 10 – 20 min wait for the credit card machine, while server walked by like 2 – 3 times helping other tables. And it wasn’t that busy at the restaurant! That overwhelming wasabi taste summarized our emotions at the end of the «chop experience». It burns!

Terrible service in the lounge. Somehow the bartender was our server and forgot about our table. No one came by for 30 minutes. Funny thing is that she admitted she was a terrible server. Not recommended.

I decided to go by for a nightcap one evening and I must say it was a fabolous time. This was primarily due to the fact the waitress That sevved me (who goes by the name Lady Potter aka The Librarian) was such a delight to chat with. Thumbs Up.

The price is high but the food is good. The portions could be bigger considering the price. Their soups are good. The mood is nice. It’s a nice place to have a holiday party or work events especially because of the private areas they have.

I was going to post a very negative issue I have with Unilocal Algorithm and my daughters review that they deemed inappropriate. She was trying to be honest and Unilocal won’t budge on their process. So poo on you Unilocal.
Now onto the latest review for The Chop Steakhouse.
We had dinner in one of their smaller private rooms. It was a nice cozy room good for 6 people where you could carry on a decent conversation with your party.
Steak Bites and Chicken wings are always a hit. 4 solid stars there.
Service today was rock solid. Fast but not too intrusive and polite. I’ve never had bad service here. Which I can’t understand why other reviewers would complain.
Maybe they see me and say «hey! It’s Lauren! Quick VIP service Chop Chop!»
No. That’s not the case.
Regardless when I do come to dine there, I am always greeted with a kind smile and polite service.
The only thing I could gripe about would be my salad. The greens were kinda rotten so only ¾ of the salad was edible.
This I usually find a problem when kitchen staff are not aware of this. Typical in a steak joints or places like Earls and White Spots.
Hopefully they’ll get it better next time. Bad veggies is as bad as a steak well done when it’s supposed to be rare.
So for this reason, I’m giving them a 4 star. The salad let down the team when they provided such great service.

These guys do up a damn good steak. Better than a Keg, but not as good as Hy’s or Gothams. I had their blackened new york strip and was very impressed at (1) the doneness level — which was perfect and (2) the seasoning, which seemed to be very balanced and not overpowering. Seasonal veggies were good, nothing to scream about. However, the cheese cake that I had afterwards — whoa. So good!
My favourite dish here overall though are definitely their burgers. Everything is made in house, it’s fully loaded, and dripping with juices. It’s a handful, and I love it.
Service here is definitely hit or miss though as sometimes it can be slower or faster than you’d expect. I generally only come here if I have no deadlines after lunch or have time to chill. This is especially the case if it is a warm sunny day. Their patio area is top notch!
Side note: If you want a super cheap, hearty, lunch. Get a cup of the clam chowder. Super tasty, very filling and at a decent price. It’s boston cream style (so not tomato based) and comes with some bread.

I came here exclusively for drinks and appetizers two nights in a row.
The best thing I munched on were the Crab cakes. Though rather small they were really great. They came with some kind of hummus like sauce that just combined in a really great way.
The beer selection is ok, but what they have on tap was tasty. I recall really liking the IPA.
One night I also had a Moscow Mule… this drink was ok. It had a bit of a spicy kick I wasn’t expecting and the overall alcohol ratio seemed way way way low. Not the greatest drink ever.
The atmosphere is a bit more club like, and the service is rather attentive… It made it for two really good nights. Though I didn’t eat any full meals here I wouldn’t hesitate trying a steak or something next time. The food does look really great.
Nice plus is that if you are staying at the hotel you can call up their food for room service… I might do that next time I stay at the Sandman again.

Where do I start? This place was absolutely awesome!
My partner took me here for a romantic dinner date and Chop Steakhouse was exactly that. The ambiance is spectacular, the customer service is 5 stars and the food was AH-​MAZING!
Out waitress was Tina and she was such a fireball! She knew the menu, gave her opinion when asked and was honest when she was unsure. We are still learning our wines and what goes with what. We asked Tina and she was honest that she wasn’t a wine expert but she had a coworker she’d send over who was. He came over and was so knowledgable and gave PERFECT recommendations on wines to pair with our meals.
The food was soooooooo good! I got the smoked ribeye and my partner got the New York strip. We both got seafood chowder, wasabi mashed potatoes and veggies. I literally have NO complaints on any of the food. Everything was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor!
I also got a raspberry crème brûlée and it also was yummy!
Can’t wait to go back :)

Great ambiance and feel at the Chop steakhouse in Richmond.
They corked our bottle and our night began shortly after. My steak was well presented with a slab of Wasabi mashed patatoes on the side. The steak on the o hand was perfectly cooked and tasted great! Mushrooms to add and we were off!

What is one to do when he goes to a «fine dining establishment» where the food is to his expectations however a major event (or a small mouse) is causing him disgust that erases the whole food and wine experience?
So, yes that was the experience… not only we witnessed the small creature running between the tables looking for food but we also had to witness his removal from premises.
I know it’s not supposed to happen but it can happen — well — it should not!
Was this a successful business dinner. I am sure that my business partner which I met for dinner will never forget this one.

Yes, we skipped dessert and coffee
Yes, we left immediately and disgusted

Went to the bar at Chop Steakhouse after work on Friday. Great atmosphere! Bourbon chicken wings with blue cheese dip –delicious. Mushroom ravoli was popular. Salad and salad dressing very good. Lobster fettucini had lots of lobster. The lobster hamburger was recommended. There are TVs for sports fan. Unfortunately, it was cool and cloudy so the patio was closed. Will definitely return and check out the patio!

We always come here for birthday dinners because ambiance looks great and it is one of the higher– end looking and newer steak houses in richmond. There are also party rooms and more private lounge areas if you want to be loud with the crew and the restaurant accommodates large groups. Service is pretty good and they do make customers feel appreciated and attend to your needs. Their quality of food is pretty good for what you pay for. For about 33 $ you get a good portion of prime rib and soup of the day. There are plenty of free parking at the restaurant. Don’t forget to take fun pictures at the tunnel and pretend you’re a model on the runway!

Chop Steakhouse, is conveniently located near the Executive airport Plaza in Richmond and offers great lunch specials. Although a little pricey in some of their dishes, they are fast and convenient.
Especially in the summer, they get a lot of business from all the surrounding offices. The service is quick and they realize, the importance of «the lunch break»!
My co-​workers and I have been eating here for well over 4 years and my personal favourite is the Chop Salad with a side of chicken. Their Chop burger is pretty solid too! A pro-​tip is to sub out the fried for the Clam Chowder to save some extra $$.
The patio opens up in the summer and is a great place for a quick lunch and a beer, that’s if it’s within your comapny policy.

Was not very impressed. The beer list looked some what extensive for both tap and bottle selections until we were told they only had a choice of Coors lite, Kronenburg, maybe something else and a Manitoba beer called Goose.
The food was just okay. I would not go back.

Had a group dinner here. Service was fantastic as was the atmosphere in the private room we had.
I had the filet mignon and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Also had the French Mojito for a cocktail and loved it.

The place looked more like a club than a restaurant. There are literally no windows in the dining area we were in. It felt like we were underground.
The dining area had some pretty dim lighting for the middle of the room while some of the booths like ours had a large ball of wire as our lighting fixture. It seems like it can be really close to your head if you lean in a bit. It’s not heavy or dangerous, just a big ball of wire… easiest way to explain what it is sorry if you don’t get it…
We were seated in a booth that did have a little better lighting and the booth felt sort of tight but it was cozy and the ambiance was a little different. It was dim and the furnishings just seemed so different, very different like we were in a cave or something. The dining area is through this «tunnel» that leads back to the bar and lounge area that has a completely different feel to it. We had entered the restaurant through the lobby of the Sandman Signature hotel, not the front entrance from the parking lot.
I had ordered the Howe Sound IPA which I really liked. I had already eaten earlier in the evening so I wasn’t very hungry but my wife and my friends were so I had something small which was the Ahi tuna tataki.
I have to say this tuna appetizer was really very good. I was very pleased with the taste, presentation, freshness and overall size of the portion.
Chop sort of feels like an Earls or Cactus Club sort of. I guess it’s sort of going for that type of style and clientele. I liked what I had although it wasn’t very much.
My wife had ordered a Berkeley salad which was part of the special menu. The salad consisted of chicken, arugula, pecans, red pepper. She said she enjoyed hers because she ate it all too.

Wow. Amazing. My whole experience was so wonderful it inspired me to start writing reviews again. My experience here far exceeded my expectations due to the low ratings this place got on Unilocal.
My bf and I decided to have a little weekend getaway in Vancity. We celebrated our anniversary dinner here and had the BEST time. Our server Lara was an absolute gem. She was friendly, attentive and engaging. She even brought out complimentary champagne and a hand signed card for us, it was really nice. Lara really just made our anniversary dinner perfect!
We ordered the Hot Wings, Caesar Salad, and the Seafood Chowder for starters. The Wings had the perfect texture and had great flavor. The also give you a HUGE portion… A ten piece at that! The salad and chowder were also fresh and flavorful as well. I had the best drink here, it was the Pink Lemonade, sooooo good! It wasn’t too sweet and not too strong just perfect.
For dinner I had the Steak Oscar which was perfectly cooked and delicious. This was served with a Jumbo Prawns and a Bernaise Sauce. My meal also came with a baked potato and seasonal vegetables which were also perfectly cooked and dressed as well. My bf ordered the Burger which came with fries. I didn’t try as I was too busy eating my steak but he said it was pretty awesome.
We ended the night with the Dessert Trio to share. This consisted of a mini version of their 3 desserts. White Chocolate Crème Brûlée, Chocolate Soufflé Cake and Tropical Rum Raisin Cake. All 3 of the little morsels were amazing but OMG I can’t even fully express how spectacular the rum cake was! It was soooo light but buttery at the same time and you can definitely taste the rum. I could’ve eaten like 5 of these.
Our night here was just perfect. Good food, great drinks and even better service. I would give the food a solid 4 but service really just blew it out of the park so upgrade to 5. If you ever come here get the steak and don’t miss out on that rum cake! I can definitely drink those pink lemonades all day though…
