I discovered this place on Unilocal since my dad likes a good noodle soup restaurant. It definitely lived up to its rating. It was almost 3 pm on a Tuesday and the restaurant was full. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table and we had to share with another customer. We didn’t mind though. After looking at all their choices we both tried the mini set meals they offer from 3 – 6 and late night. I ordered the mini teriyaki pork chop with egg on rice and my dad got a mini beef tendon/brisket/tongue in Shin Ramyun(spicy). They were both $ 7.25 and included coffee or tea. It was a good deal and the perfect size for us cause the regular menu had big portions, especially the noodle soup. We will definitely be going back and trying their other dishes, including making your own noodle soup dish.

One of my go-to places in Richmond, but it’s quite busy all the time. They take reservations if it’s for more than 5 people. Their soup noodle bowls are their signature dish where you can pick and choose the type of broth, noodle, and topping(2) you want for $ 10. If you get the noodles you can also add side dishes for only 2.75. I recommend the fish filet and the chicken wings. You can also add any bubble tea for $ 1. Apart from noodles they also have a huge menu selection — it’s 4 pages but not binded into a book so can often be confused as two copies of the same menu. The service at deer garden is usually pretty meh probably because they’re so busy but this one was not bad. It was still difficult to get the attention of staff but they were very friendly and also spoke English

Horrible, horrible service. Go to the Deer Garden location on Alexandra Rd.(if you’re in Richmond) and save yourself any similar headaches that we experienced yesterday. * There was a lineup when we got there so I put my name down for 5 people. Our name gets called but they only recorded it for 2 people so we had to continue to wait. * The server forgot to put in one person’s order at our table. We eventually had to wait an hour for their food to come after everyone had already finished. * I had to constantly wave my hand around to get any sort of service, including refilling our empty tea cups. This is pretty typical for Chinese restaurants, but I’ve never had it this bad before. * They literally throw your items onto the table when«serving» you. This included the drinks and bill. I’m a big fan of Deer Garden in general and love custom«build-your-own soup noodles» but I will never come back to this location again.

I love their signature soup combo! A good price for the portion of the food. Can add $ 2 for a specialty drink as well :) Recently got the Ma lay laska soup base, however it didn’t taste spicy at all compared to the other times that I’ve tried it before. Only reason for the 4 stars is because I felt like I was being rushed. The waitress kept asking if we were done yet or if we needed it packed. They also charge extra for takeout.

Another one of those classic pick and choose what you want in your noodle bowl. The basics come with a soup base, noodles, veggies, 2 items and a hot drink. There is definitely enough in the standard bowl to fill you and some. I always end up with left overs and I’m a big eater. :p If you want more items in your noodles or a side plate, you pay a small additional fee, same with cold/specialty drinks. This time I had Ramen noodles in Peanut Chili Sauce with beef brisket, pork blood and added on chicken wings. MMMmmmm so good just thinking about it. They sure do not cheap out on the meat. The chicken wings are fat and juicy with a hint of garlic. After having this I really didn’t need my liquid in my belly so I left with my iced Coffee/tea instead of finishing at the store. I’m pretty sure they have other menus but I usually just come for noodles. It is a busy place so you will most likely have to wait unless you come before lunch. The nice thing is that they have slips of paper at the front you can fill out while you wait. As soon as you sit down, hand that in to expedite your order. They do charge extra 5cents for take out containers but given you pay less than $ 10 for a meal and a half… I’m not complaining.

Clean food. Clean surroundings. Friendly staff and easy to park location. Much rather go here than fight for parking and wait 30 – 45 minutes for a seat at the Fraser St. DG. Staff is fluent in Canto, Mando and English. Unlike the Fraser St. DG The order is correct when it arrives at your table, unlike the Fraser St. DG Food arrives fast and they don’t rush you out 45 minutes before last call like… well you know where I’m talking about now.

Excellent food and a very clean establishment! The staff are knowledgeable regarding the menu so if you have any allergies or sensitivities, they are happy to help and ask the chef. Best of all, they have flawless health inspections! You can read the report at {h}(t)[t][p]{s}://inspections.vcha.ca/Facility/Details/ac804f98−7ed4−4b35-ad99−46d575dba6c0 This is, by far, my favourite Chinese restaurant. I highly recommend their noodle soup! It can get super busy, but what do you expect with a restaurant run so well? The food is worth the wait every time.

They started charging for take out containers on 1 Nov 2015. The nickle and diming is really unfortunate given the otherwise positive qualities of the place. They’re charging $.5 for each container which isn’t a whole lot, but as it costs them probably closer to $.01 per, it just feels like a cheap grab at a few extra cents. Anyways, as I said it’s otherwise positive reviews for food and service.

Ahh by far one of my favorite place to eat in Ricmond! I would give it 6⁄5 stars if I could, LOL! Service– Blazing fast, they will seat you as fast as they can! The water on the table from them cleaning it is not even dry when you are seated. The atmosphere is very fast packed as you can see the waiters running around and 99% of the people are speaking a foreign language. Doesn’t bother me at all. The food, the food! I think it’s got a really really good variety of noodle, curries, tea’s, pasta’s, sandwiches. YA. they have a lot! The food is deleicous and is very reasonably priced. I think my coworkers and I are probably in there once a week minimum!

This is one of the most irritating and frustrating dining experience I’ve ever had! My out-of-town friends were coming to visit us and so we had 9 people dining together. I called on Thursday to make a reservation on Saturday night. On Saturday my husband went first and asked them about my reservation, and he was told that there’s no reservation under my name. After looking up for 10 minutes and they still couldn’t find it. The waiting time was about 15 – 20 minutes(5:00pm at the time). Ok so this was off to a bad start especially we have 2 kids and a small baby. When we were finally seated, we made our selections and gave them to the server. 20 minutes later, we got 4 out of 6 orders served; the rest two? Never came until my friends had almost finished theirs. In total that’s more than 40 minutes for two bowls of noodle soup. We checked and apparently they lost one of our orders and we had to re– fill out the form again; the other order just took ridiculously long time to make! The servers did not even apologize for the long wait and missing order. After serving us the late and missing orders, they handed us the bill almost two minutes after. We felt so rushed and I felt embarrassed as I was really recommending this restaurant! What a big mistake I made! Will never go back to this particular location again(would probably still go to the one on Alexandra Rd or Fraser St). Plus the soup base was different from the one we had at other locations; it’s a lot lighter. I don’t think they take the time to make the soup base. So think twice before you go!

This is my favourite Cantonese joint in town and I’m glad they opened up a new location at Union Square where I run a lot of errands from. The signature specialty here is the stewed fish soup that’s the base broth of whatever choices of noodles you like accompanied by two toppings and a beverage. For extra coins you can add in additional topping as well as side appetizers. This combo won’t ding your wallet at approximately $ 10 give or take per head. My staple favorites are: — Laksa soup — rice noodle — beef — pig skin — and I add the sold bean curds — accompanied by iced lemon tea — and always with deep-fried chicken wings. The portion is good enough for you to take some leftover home for snack or light lunch and the service is always efficient. It would be useful to bring cash for this place, or else be prepared to stay behind and wash few dishes to pay off your bill(or go to the nearest ATM) and get some dollar bills. Cheerio!

(Correction– SECOND best baked pork chop in Richmond. Tried silver tower and it’s slightly better). Best Baked pork chop on rice in Richmond. I’ve tried all of them. Believe me. ps: 2015– THISISTHENEWLOCATION There are so many Deer Garden’s in richmond and some of them are closed/moved. Be wary you don’t drive there only to be sad without food.

Love their soup here! But a disclaimer, I really really love fish soup in general, it’s one of my favourites, so i might be a bit biased and understnad that it’s not for everyone. I tried their Laksa for the first time and it is a creamy, curry-ish tasting fish soup. I was very delighted by it — they claim that it is spicy, but I would say it is more like a HINT of spice. They recently moved from Cambie to this place on Capstan Way — it’s very close to and right behind Yoahan Center. The place looks clean and bright and the servers were quite friendly and lovely(surprising for a HK café style place). Parking itself may be a little tight, but it is a sizeable parking lot, if you can’t find any infront of the stores/restaurant itself, there are more parking spots behind the building. Cash only

[I wish they served Deer] Deer Garden has been a staple for my workday lunches. It’s gotten to the point where I have the menu memorized and a stack of DIY order forms at my desk. It also doesn’t help I’ve gotten a ton of coworkers addicted who constantly have cravings. So what makes this place so awesome? Convenience: Unlike a lot of noodle places in Vancouver, language isn’t a barrier. There are DIY forms which you fill out(for noodle bowls) instead of awkwardly pointing at whatever random delicacy you’ve selected. Customization: You can customize your soup, noodle type, toppings, greens, and accompanying beverage and simply hand the form in when you’re done — no mess. Just remember what you ordered. It’s always fun when the server calls out the food they’ve brought and everyone stays quiet. Food: While the noodle bowls aren’t crazy amazing, it’s the curry that really shines here. I’d recommend a curry beef brisket if your tastebuds are lookin’ for a good time. Value: For $ 10, you get a huge bowl of noodles with 2 toppings and a drink(might be a few bucks more if you add extra toppings or get a fancy drink). Pricing for non-noodle dishes(curry, rice, etc.) are in the same ballpark. Note that it’s cash only. Ambience: All their locations are relatively new and nicely decorated. Like a lot of other HK-style cafes in Vancouver, they try to get as many customers through the door as possible. That said, I’d describe the service as «casual but efficient». It’s an extremely popular place and I can see why — that said, don’t expect a nice quiet place you can sit and and gossip for hours. Instead be prepared to wait though you can call ahead if you have a party of 6 or more.
