This is a causal Cantonese style restaurant The food is quite good and the prices are veery reasonable This is a place go to when I want a quick good quality Chinese food Place is always busy so you know it’s good Rule of thumb for good chimes places if it is full and noisy and has 90% Chinese people and not full of white people then it is good

Oily food and over cooked. MSG or not bland seemed to be the flavour theme. Egg plant beef something or other. Mushy oily eggplant with remnants of beef. Fried pork chops… Double deep fried to the point of being too tough to eat. Also the chops were ALL bone. Beef and vegetable dish may as well have been a vegetarian dish. It was bits of beef with diced vegetables covered in… You guessed it… oil. No pix because when we finally began to get the first of our 5 dishes(after waiting 40 minutes) they sent the wrong dish… twice!(And we wrote down our order in Chinese for them). While we waited we were fortunate enough to watch all the tables around us get served their entire meals before we were even a quarter of the way through ours. We also were very comfortable seeing the«main» waitress nonchalantly socialize instead of bringing a simple pot of hot water after asking twice in 10mins.(I was clocking our time here as I had to pay for parking because the lot was full). She was even nice enough to acknowledge that she remembered to get us water and would only to turn around, remain at a table of «preferred/regular» patrons and continue chatting for a few more minutes. When she was done chatting and disappeared into the kitchen… She’s emerge with a dish… For another table and still no water. The second waitress who had a sour face all night(probably due to the fact she was doing more work then anyone else in the place) was so swamped she didn’t even make eye contact long enough to order even a beer. When we were served a dish the main waitress would stand around with it, wave it over the table and try to make light of our situation before putting it down. We got no apologies. No compensation. The place was not packed. The other tables were no bigger then ours. Was the food good? No. Not especially for what we ordered. Was the service good. HELLNO and we are not high maintenance people. Using the word service isn’t even fair. It was less then service and it was terrible. Even the owner lady stopped coming around our table to check on us because she knew she’d not get a warm response. Was it clean. Yes. Bright inside. Well lit. Terrible parking. Would I go back. Not unless it was restaffed. Good luck to them and you all who go there.

Too expensive. They put msg on everything why do Chinese people like msg. It’s basically poison. Not impressed for the price.

We came here for dinner after our day trip from Seattle, we found the parking was so busy. We arrived at 7ish without any reservation and had to wait for 20 mins before we got the table. The restaurant was so noisy and service pretty slow. We had to waive the waitress over for ordering food and getting tea refill. We ordered some dishes for dinner. Salted free-range chicken — It’s tasted like fried chicken. Stir fried pork cheek with luffa and black fugus — the luffa was bitter and pork cheek quite chewy. Pea shoots in broth — it was good. Sweet and sour pork chop — it’s greasy and sauce too watery. The dishes size in small portion and price reasonable too. Overall, the dishes were mediocre and poor quality of ingredients but not much MSG.

Practically skipping the normal times of dinner we decided to go for the da lang(打冷) which I have not done in years. On the journey for any kind of good eats at night someone suggested we check out the old HKYK across the street, and because that place was closing at about 11PM and us men can talk like women when gathered together we walked into this place. At the time we came in, about 10:30PM it had a few big tables, but nothing close to packed. I think we were out in the cold too long, as this place felt cold, and the a/c felt jacked. Another piece of info you should know is. if you are some human vampire that needs to hide from light, this place is definitely not for you, as it is beyond bright in here for a late night establishment, like an inside joke of what you bring with you from the clubs this one would give you some insight(or more sight to what you see with who you bring) and also a good view of the food you ordered! This place is open right up to 2AM, another plus for serving the da lang menu, so with the four of us needing dinner the order was put in. Over $ 20 and you get a free large bowl of plain congee(looked like a medium size) so that’s a bonus for plain ass white rice porridge. We were shot down on two orders, the deep fried silver fish, and the deep fried chicken knuckle… two of the most popular dishes for late night eats that is like pearls for bubble tea!!! No matter, we still ended up ordering the peppery deep fried tofu, meat bits with string beans, shrimp with scrambled eggs, some house pork chop(due to not having the two items we actually wanted) and garlic pea snow pea tip, and for a good HK twist to mix with our congee a plate of the soy sauce fried noodle(this is a Chinese thing that I still don’t really understand!). The food came kind of out of order, as usual you need the staple congee to come out first like rice on the side, instead we ended up with the scrambled eggs and tofu to start, and this place started getting busier, with two servers, and who knows how many people working in the kitchen, where there were empty tables… there was no more! Each dish that came out was fresh off the fire, hot, steam flying into the air, but this is a restaurant, big flippin deal… how did it taste you ask. everyone on the table kept picking at the foods like buzzards on a tree top swooping to kill. Each plate excelled in what you would call food that is late night eats. and the normal impression you get is that as long as it is good enough… well this was the next step, this was freaking good food that I would order anytime of the day. Stuff like the deep fried tofu, looked a little browner, and the bits were far smaller in size than any place I have ever seen, but each cubic bit was perfect, and non-oily. The scrambled eggs were mixed with huge shrimp, and it was semi-runny(perfect), the snow pea tips… again, not oily… like some restaurants I’ve had this plate for regular dinner. Service was a little slow on this night, but it didn’t deter us to order more, even their signature pork chop had a taste that was fit for fried fish, but worked with the pork, this was quality late night food, and we were eating it! Some meals late at night make you feel disgusting when you wake up the next day, this one did not. I did not suffer any mild headache, the food was clean, and that saying I really don’t think they are using any MSG… or very little, which is hard to come by. My friend could recognize one of the tables sitting were the dealers from River Rock, I ended up bumping into another friend who was with his staff from one of the bigger restaurants in Richmond, and other tables were just here having a good time with food and booze(saw wine and beer!). The big tv in the back was streaming HK television direct from the source. I have a feeling they were short on staff this night, but that doesn’t deter me from giving this place high marks, as I said to others, this was one of the best ‘da lang’s’ I have had in years! Coming back. when I’m in for late night eats! Too bad my phone died or I would have some pictures of the eats on this day.

DEC is fairly new in the neighborhood. I was here twice for the late night dinner because they close at 2 am. I give them top rating base on these two experience; and most of the credit should goes to the chef & the food. The material is good quality & fresh, with skillful hands. The dishes are pleasant to look at, taste yummy, and the portion is pretty generous. Price is fair(for late night dinner after 9pm). The service is accommodating and dinning room is well lit. Plus FREE parking in front. I don’t see why shouldn’t I be back if I have cash… Yeah you got it, they don’t accept credit cards. Cash only.
