Favourite dim sum in the lower mainland! Hands down. I use to go to Sun Si Wah every weekend but the place really went down hill. Looking for a new place for Chinese breakfast, I decided to give Fisherman’s Terrace a try. Located conveniently in Aberdeen mall on the top floor. The food comes out piping out! They also switch up their menu from time to time so if you want to try something new. Great! But sometimes they’ll take off one of your favourite items which is a negative. No complaints though, there is still a lot of options to choose from. Service is quite good. It’s still a Chinese restaurant in Richmond so expectations are not high. This place is more expensive than other places in the lower mainland but worth every dollar!(Most expensive I’ve encountered, actually.)

Was looking for some dim sum that would blow my mind while in Richmond. Went with this place based off the 4 star reviews. Rating it 3 stars because I wasn’t blown away but it wasn’t too bad either. Call it middle of he road. We ordered a variety of the dumplings, shrimp balls, egg plant tofu, sticky rice, and honey shrimp. Also some BBQ steamed buns. Egg plant tofu and steam buns were the best dishes we ordered. Service was actually pretty decent we will Probably try another restaurant next time to have something else in the area to compare to.

We’ve been told that Vancouver is like little Hong Kong so we had to check out their dim sum. And they were right! This was one of the best dim sum I’ve ever had! Service: very crowded but the staff were fast and friendly, which is not the norm for Chinese service. They didn’t have the cart but I think it’s because the restaurants had so many tables and people, I feel it’s more efficient to just order from the menu Food: we were starving so we got a little carry and order 8 dishes. And everything was DELICIOUS! *Deep fried taro ball: fresh out of the fryer, it was streaming hot. Extra crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I put the whole piece inside due to excitement of finally seeing food, I burn my mouth so BECAREFUL *chicken feets with peanuts: a stable dim sum dish, very delicious! I thought the peanut was unnecessary. *duck tongue: first time trying this and it was DELISH! Taste a little similar to the chicken feet with a small piece of bone in the middle. I hope I can find this when I go back to Sd. *rice noodle with shrimp: another stable dim sum and they made it with BIG shrimp, it taste so fresh and the noodles were really soft. It’s a MUST get *fried bean curd wrap: OMG it was DELICIOUS! I don’t know what veggie was inside but man it was BOMB with the vinegar soy sauce. *snow peas noodle wrap: another first time trying, and it was delicious! *beef tripe: it taste average but my bf likes it *mango yam Mochi ball: another first time tasting and it was AMAZING! It was a warm ball of GOODNESS covered in coconut flake. It was good without being overly sweet. I definitely recommend this to everyone and hopefully I can come back

Rude manager: Ordered pan fried rice roll noodles in soya sauce. When they came, they were cold on the outside but extremely hot on the inside. Seemed like they’d been microwaved and NOT pan fried. They were extremely mushy, almost pudding-like in texture. When we asked the manager if they could bring over a replacement, she replied snarkly that it was the way they’d been making them for 20 years. I told her that was untrue, as I had just eaten here last week, and they tasted a LOT better(they were actually pan fried). She simply dismissed our concerns and held her stance that the pan fried rice rolls were supposed to be soggy and mushy. Totally ridiculous customer service. I mean… Their food isn’t cheap either. How much does it cost for them to make another dish for us?! Never coming back.

Friendly and delicious dim sum that’s worth the drive from Seattle. The waitress was patient in answering all our questions about the menu as items popped onto the table one by one, and even gave us a quick history of what significance some of the plates have in Chinese culture. Be brave, try it all!

The best dungeness crab I had INTHEWORLD. There’s a reason why Chinese people call dungeness crab«Vancouver crab»

We asked the guy helping us at the car rental counter where he goes for DIMSUM and he told us to go here. He also warned us that we were in for a long wait. Thankfully, we snacked on items from the food court at the Aberdeen Centre while we waited. Fisherman’s Terrace is a fancier-looking spot. Dim sum is ordered off a menu and, between the three of us, we over-did the hash marks(see photo). My favorite was #28, the BAKEDBBQPORKPASTRY, and the dumplings in general. Overall, dim sum was solid here but not the best I’ve had.

I went because I’m a sucker for amazing Unilocal reviews. Lets be honest, 200 people can’t be wrong. I had a decent experience. The reviews are correct when they talk about size and quality. Loads of shrimp and meat, no skimping here. I had the pan fried buns, shrimp and pork dumplings and the pan fried(but really deep fried) tofu rolls. Everything was good but the experience is really underwhelming. Maybe it was because I was a single that I sat by a sad corner off to the side. You know when you’re on a date and your date is ashamed of you? It kind of felt like that. No? Ok, maybe it’s just me then. Its pricing is average. Not too expensive but not cheap either. In Richmond, there’s a lot of choice so businesses have to be competitive. There are many negative comments about service. Mind you, I was practically sitting in the servants quarter and it was 2ish on a Thursday. Not really prime time so I had zero issues with getting additional sauce(I mean could they have possibly provided me with less vinegar?) I wasn’t disappointed nor blown away so meh. P. S. for the restaurant, when you’re open, you should really change the closed sign. I walked in SO confused and was ready to be shooed out.

We arrived here just in time for the last call on Sunday(around 2.30PM, they closed at 3PM). We ordered the Shrimp Dumpling($ 5.95), Shrimp and Chive Dumpling($ 5.95), BBQ Pork Rice Noodle Roll($ 5.95), Scallop Rice Noodle Roll($ 6.95), Beef Ball($ 5.95) and Mango Pudding($ 3.95). For the price, the shrimp dumplings(both kinds) were good, they were the fattest dumplings I ate in Vancouver. Juicy and cooked right, they were worth it I feel. One disappointment was the scallop noodle roll. It was bland and you could barely taste any scallop. I definitely prefer the BBQ pork one better. Beef ball and mango pudding were just OK, nothing special there. The service was fast and efficient and I do appreciate that they can squeeze us in for the last call.

Fisherman’s Terrance is located on the third floor of Aberdeen Center. We came here for dim sum and i was surprised to see people hovering around the waiting area on a Friday afternoon. I must say they do have some pretty awesome dishes; one of my favs was the shredded chicken with pickles and ginger and crunchy bits. Their prices are not the cheapest but definitely not the most expensive either. The bill was 80 $ plus tax for the 5 of us. One of the things I didn’t like was that their bathrooms are outside of the restaurant and there are poles that limits visibility. It probably will not be a good venue for weddings due to the structure and poles inside the restaurant. Staff is busy but available with decent service.

I came here for dim sum with a big group a few months ago with a reservation. Upon arrival, we were told it was going to be a wait even though I had made reservations and it was very difficult to get a straight answer on exactly how long of a wait it would be. About 20 mins later we were finally seated at one of their large round tables(comfortably seated the 12 in my group). Everyone was pretty hungry after the long wait so we ordered a ton of dim sum right off the bat — the typical round of har gow, siu mai, chicken feet, etc. I was less than impressed by everything. Most disappointing was that the har gow’s skin was over done and stuck to the bottom of the bamboo steamer which caused them to tear apart when you try to pick them up. Overall, disappointing dim sum, poor service, but comfortable seating for large groups. There are plenty of other options for dim sum in Richmond so I would not come here again. I’d sacrifice a bit of arm room for better quality dim sum.

Still as good as I remember it. It gets really busy here so get your name on the list ASAP! Fill out the proper paperwork and turn it in to the server and the items will slowly trickle out onto your table. We ordered way too much so we had plenty of leftovers for later. All items were very good especially the tofu roll and sesame balls. All the items were came out super hot and tasted fresh. No issues with any of the food. For the service, well you know… The prices seemed high for just the 2 of us but we were able to squeeze out 2 meals from it, so in the end it was good. If you need ice water, chili paste, soy, mustard, extra napkins or whatever, try to ask for all that stuff up front because they probably wont come back until you want your check. Asking the food runners is pointless. Other than that, dim sum was very tasty!

Fisherman’s Terrace has been in Richmond for a while I would definitely say that they’re one of the higher-quality Cantonese /dim-sum restaurants in the GVA. If you go to Aberdeen Centre on a Sunday morning, you’ll immediately notice a massive hoard of people swarming around the North side of the third floor. This is the wait to get into the restaurant! My only qualm with Fisherman’s Terrace is that even if you get a reservation, you still have to wait most of the time. Without a reservation, you could end up waiting for almost an hour! The food here is quite consistent and I love their giant siu mai(shrimp/pork dumplings) and their sau see gai(cold jellyfish dish with chicken and crunchy wonton bits). The prices are on the higher side but everything is good quality so it’s worth it!

«Excellent dim sum restaurant minus the customer service.» Fisherman’s Terrace is known for their expertise in dim sum. The small orders of suimai, steamed shrimp dumpling, bbq pork buns and other savory and sweet items draws large crowds even on weekdays. I highly recommend making advanced reservations to avoid any unexpected wait times. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor level inside the Aberdeen Court Mall. The overall layout and design of restaurant allows for maximum capacity seating and the large windows provides ample natural lighting. Upon seating, we were handed a small menu, pencil, and a checklist. Customers can select steamed, deep fried, and baked goods for the table. The iconic dim sum carts were not present and instead we were provided an order slip that servers use to cross out any delivered foods. We ordered the following items: –Suimai: Noodle sheet wrapped around a delicious mixture of pork and shrimp. –Cuttlefish in curry sauce: Steamed baby cuttlefish(similar to squid) steamed and cooked in curry sauce. Interesting blend of flavors and texture. –Beef Balls: Chinese style meatballs steamed with a layer of tofu curd. Very moist and flavorful –Eggplants stuffed with shrimp paste: The eggplant and shrimp paste combination was fantastic. The sauce had a sweet and savory taste and definitely completed the dish. –Baked BBQ pork pastry: Puffed pastries filled with BBQ pork. Very flaky and tasty savory pastry. –Tofu Roll: Fried tofu rolls filled with shrimp paste and pea tips. Excellent crunch and flavor. I wish we had soy sauce on the table for dipping. –Yam & Taro Mochi: Not as sweet as the Japanese style mochi dessert, however the mild flavors of the yam and taro definitely come through. The coconut flakes was a nice accent to the mochi. –Baked Eggs Tarts: Very flaky and well-executed dessert. The custard was perfectly set and the crust was light and airy. –Peatip rice noodle: The combination of the sauce, dried shrimps and noodles makes this one of my favorite dim sum dishes. –BBQ Steamed Buns: As always, one of my favorite dim sum or snack item. Fluffy texture paired with a savory and rich filling. A few things about the service and atmosphere… The service was sparse and asking for water, tea, soy sauce and even our check was challenging. The food delivery was quite fast and the table side checklist definitely proved its point in efficiency. The noise level is very loud and table seating can become very tight during peak times. Overall, great dim sum food in an excellent location. Make sure to grab the attention of your server for any requests as they tend to walk by in a brisk pace.

Nom nom nom, pretty happy to have discovered a new dim sum place to eat. Conveniently located in a mall(where there’s plenty of parking space in the parking garage attached), this dim sum place is super easy to find. The place itself is pretty large, with a lot of small tables that can easily fit 6 – 7 people and larger tables for bigger parties. Be warned, if you go during the weekend, and especially before noon, expect to wait at least 20min to an hour in line. This place gets crazy packed! While waiting in line, make sure to keep an ear out to when the hostess calls your name. The hostess we encounter had a pretty thick accent, so it took us some extra attention to understand what she was saying, or else we could have lost our spot in line. After 45min of waiting, my friends and I finally got seated. From there, we proceeded to stuff ourselves with yummy dim sum dishes such as: shu mai(pork dumplings), shrimp dumplings, steamed BBQ buns, sticky rice, tendon, turnip cake, Chinese donut wrapped in rice rolls, bean curds, and a few other smaller items. Portion wise, most of the items are serve in 4s or 6s pieces. The shrimp & pork dumplings were amazinglyyyy good! Huge pieces, savory tastes, and you don’t even need soy sauce or anything to enjoy the dishes. As for the sticky rice and steamed buns, these were pretty filling, so if you’re mad hungry like I was, eat one of these and it will instantly satisfy your inner hunger. One of the dishes I was disappointed in was the Chinese donut wrapped in rice rolls =[ This is easily my top favorite dim sum dish when visiting any dim sum place in Richmond since it’s a very tasty dish where the outside is warm and fresh from the rice roll, and the inside is crispy and a little salty to balance out the overall taste. However, at Fisherman Terrace, this dish took quite a while to come out. When it did come to us, it was already cold and lacked the fresh tastiness. Service here is average. One must be slightly more assertive than usual to wave down the servers for water/tea. Word of advice, don’t ask the serving ladies for anything. Their duty is to deliver the food to you and that’s it…(definitely don’t want to be glared down by them o. o) Overall, highly recommend this place if you’re looking to try out a new dim sum place or to try dim sum in general!

REALLYGOODDIMSUM, might even be better than dim sum in Hong Kong. If you are visiting Vancouver, come here for some awesome Asian food. It’s about 30 min from downtown Vancouver. There is a long wait. I got here at 11am when it opened and waited over an hour to get seated. You order off a list by checking off what you want. There’s no one pushing carts around. Initially they gave us one with all Chinese writing and I thought well damn I am screwed BUT they have an english one. AMEN. 7 dishes cost $ 44CAD so… on the pricier side vs. NYC chinatown or Philly Chinatown. It is located on the 3 floor of the mall. It is a struggle to find if you don’t know and people in the mall are not trying to help. Go to 3rd floor, it is located outside side of food court across from a korean restaurant. I see you Vancouver… strong dim sum game.

AWESOMEDIMSUM and THENSOME I heard Vancouver was known for their incredible dim sum but we did not find anything good in Chinatown. I didn’t realize that Richmond, BC was like a little extension of Hong Kong, especially right there on the top floor of the Aberdeen Center. This was probably the best dim sum experience I’ve had, and it didn’t even involve old ladies pushing carts around yelling out things in Chinese(like what I’m used to). Thank you to my Unilocal friends Rob L, and Lyla D. who recommended this place over all the rest. HOURS: We went on a Sunday at 10am. No. We went at 9:45am and had a reservation at 10am, so they took us in before they opened.(Ancient Chinese secret: This will help you avoid the long lines that occur later in the mid morning while the first seating finishes up their meals. Use a Chinese name when making reservations.) They are open for dinner but stop serving dim sum at 5pm. ORDERING: They give you a long slip of paper and you have to sort of play«blackout bingo» as Lyla calls it. You mark which things you want, and what quantity/size. They bring everything out made to order, so you will have to wait for your food for a little bit before your food starts arriving. When we ordered, we were better off pointing to the Unilocal pictures to order our food, as the slip of paper was in Chinese with weird English translations«pork rice roll=char siu look fun». Oh if one person asks for tea, you will be charged $ 1/person for tea even if the other 3 people don’t drink tea. Everything we ordered was delicious. Most of the dishes were in the $ 5 range but somehow we managed to order $ 145 food for 3 of us and I’d do it all over again.

Richmond BC is like an extension of Hong Kong… I love it! I had higher hopes for this place. After all it is centrally located in Aberdeen plaza… and looks like a dim sum restaurant straight out of Hong Kong. Food: Limited our orders since there was only two of us. Shrimp Har Gow — Stale shrimp and thick skin(the bad). Good flavor(the good). Sui Mai with Quail Egg — The egg and Sui Mai tasted good individually, but I didn’t think the flavors meshed. Beef Rice Rolls(Chearn Fun) — Smooth skin(though a little thick), good flavors. Chicken Feet — A bit dry. Tripe/Tendon combo — Very good flavors and soft tendon/Tripe. A little too much starch though. Service: Everyone was really nice and attentive. Something I’m not use to in Chinese restaurants. Environment: Clean, bright, and new. Centrally located and plenty to do nearby. Price: $ 30CAD for two. Not bad. Food: 3 Service: 5 Environment: 5 Price: 4

The dim sum here is by far one of the best I’ve had in Richmond. The food was so delicious and the portions are slightly bigger than Seattle’s too! The wait for a table, however, is RIDICULOUSLYLONG. My party of seven waited for almost an hour and a half. To be fair, though, we did arrive around noon. When we were seated, we wasted no time deciding on what we wanted; we literally took one look at the menu and said: «OKAY. LET’S DODIS.» I swear our waitress looked at us with fear and disbelief in her eyes when she grabbed our order sheet. Her fear only worsened when she came back to check on us to find everything on the table consumed. Utterly Destroyed. Needless to say, we had our fill. This place is located on the top floor of Aberdeen Centre, so it was really nice to walk around after a fat meal. We REALLY needed that walk.
