Been in to Ora several times and have used it as our take-out go-to since it opened. Not a complaint yet! Even our toddler looks forward to sushi nights with Ora! We’ve become regulars for the«safe rolls»(tempura prawn, yam, chicken, etc) but have also enjoyed salmon, unagi, and even(gasp) uni. Another regular add-on for us has been vegetable yakisoba. So good. Polite service and consistently fresh and delicious sushi will keep us coming back for lunch and dinner. Welcome to Steveston, Ora… hope you stay for a very long time!

Located in the heart of Steveston, Ora is a sushi spot that serves up fresh fish and unqiue sushi rolls, as well as many cooked items. Unlike its Japanese competitor in the village, Ichiro, it is owned by Koreans, much like the always busy Mega Sushi. In fact, the menu is almost a duplicate of the one at Mega Sushi. Taken over from the dearly missed Moncton Café, Ora is clean and bright, and has a much shorter wait than Mega Sushi does. I’ve tried a couple of the rolls here– spicy salmon, dragon roll, and the chopped scallop roll. All are fresh and good, using sockeye salmon in the salmon roll. I’ve also had their tempura, which is lightly battered, and cooked just right. The service and food can be a bit slow, as it seems like they sometimes only have one sushi chef. The servers are always friendly. The green tea is served in these mini cups, which I would really like them to change to regular sized cups. They also take reservation for larger groups, which is a bonus. When I don’t want to wait at Mega Sushi, this is my definite sushi spot to come to.

Poor service. Ordered dishes and they never arrived. Probably won’t go back. Kitchen and staff need to be more organized

The service was what I would call mediocre at best. I admit they were busy but the waitresses rarely came by our table at all and the food came out far too slowly. I was really disappointed and hungry. Now on to the food. I thought the some of the dishes were okay and some not so much. I liked the sexy roll but the other dishes ranged from average to underwhelming to be honest. They really need to change up their sauces. There’s nothing very creative about this place and I’m pretty sure they copied some of their menu from the sushi restaurant couple blocks away too. I could spot which ones were copied like the Ora Tower. Also, the menu is not very authentic Japanese food. I think I would classify this as fusion and korean food more. Anyways there are much better options elsewhere.

I think I’ve visited Ora Sushi enough to warrant a review. Verdict? Hands down, 5 solid stars. It’s a nice cozy place. The service is always amazing. Really friendly staff. The food quality, is top notch. They use wild salmon for their items, not the usual lower grade fish other sushi joints use. The must have rolls for us are Paradise Roll and 911 Roll with a side of Spicy Salmon Roll and Spicy Chopped Scallop Roll. For boxes, you can’t go wrong with the Sushi+Sashimi Bento, you’ll find this in the menu, not on the lunch special bento sheet. The prawn tempura is always popular with our kids, one of their favs at Ora along with the Tempura Udon — the broth is really flavourful. If you can stomach it, or have someone to share with, go for the Ora Tower – it’s a mound of fresh salmon, tuna, crab meat(imitation), rice, and greens with their special blend of delicious dressing. Mix it up and enjoy!

The food was 8⁄10. The presentation was 10/10, based on such competitive price. Tempura sauce was not traditional, but it excelled in a different way. The tea pot and glass cups were nice touch. A very thoughtful restaurant.

Ducked in here with my wife for lunch mid-week while walking around in Steveston and was pleasantly surprised. Food was fast and fresh. Would def come here again.

Korean run sushi restaurant with flavour samplings from Mega Sushi a few blocks away. Artfully looking sushi typical of what I call Californian Korean Sushi Style. Friendly service They have brown rice option for sushi but you have to ask. They have some vegetarian options but not too many. Sexy roll is what it is. But I prefer no sauce. Here are some of the things I noticed about my first visit there. Staff is relatively new and not fully knowledgable about the product or service. They forgot my take out order. The take out was scrutinized by the Japanese Food Critique which wasn’t good. However I find that her critique can be harsh as she is a bit of a purist. For most other foodies, they’ll like it here.
