I have just dine in that place. Not very good at all. The plate is dirty the food is not really Japanese level. The chinese owner forced me to give her 8 $ of tips. That is very bad indeed. Stay away for this place. No kidding.

I bought the $ 40 coupon of lobster dinner for 2. Not worth it! I only see the lobster shells, no head, and maybe had lobster meat of a loony size in total. The lobster was definitely frozen. I would say you are paying what you get… sushi and sashimi combo without lobster. It is not a deal or special. The salad that was part of the combo was not fresh. The plates which they served the sashimi were oily, not clean. We also ordered a ramen, which is not the usual yellow ramen. It was white Chinese noodles served with Chinese cabbage and some kind of white fish taste soup, no seaweed. There is no way it is called a Japanese ramen. Their sushi and sashimi were not bad but you can absolutely get better Japanese food from other restaurants in Richmond with the same amount of money. The service was just there. The two female servers were nice but there were also 2 older man servers who dont look like they work there. I will not go back again.

Tried this place out after my friend recommended it to me. It was a week night and the place was fairly empty. The staff was friendly upon entry and they explained the menu and the teppan experience with detail. We ordered some sushi plate along with some teppanyaki. The food was excellent! The meats were tender and the fish was fresh. Overall, a great experience that was topped off with awesome service.

Went here with a co-worker on a late Wednesday. Teppanyaki was OK, with a bit of a show, but in my opinion a bit overpriced.

The restaurant is greasy and old. The server was trying to be attentive. As for the chef, he looked like he didn’t sleep and shower for days. Serving size of the food was really small and I am not really a big eater. As for the quality of the food itself, in my opinion is very questionable. When it was time to pay we had a HUGE problem. They wanted us to pay in cash. They obviously can accept credit card. It was advertised on their door and there was a machine at the cashier. Our bill was quite a bit and we don’t have enough cash. Their excuse was the machine was broken. I told them they can manually call in the credit card center to get an authorisation. To which they explained to us that they are not trained to do. I told them I will walk them thru. They tried to avoid doing it because during the whole process they keep on insisting that we pay them cash. It was really frustrating because we don’t have that much cash. It was raining, I have a baby, I don’t want to look for a bank machine when they obviously can accept credit card. Finally they gave in and agreed to call the credit card center. When they were connected, they pretend they didn’t understand what the other party. I ended up having to deal with the credit card center myself. I was so mad that I did not leave them any tip. And they had the nerve to ask me for it. For the fact that they display such dishonesty in the whole payment process. The business practice is really something that turns me off. A lot of business were asking for cash to avoid taxes. But for them to go to such extent is ridiculous.

Food is good, but kind of expensive, if you want to totally fill up your stomach, you have to spend at least $ 50 – 70 per person. Both chef were great and friendly, with lot of tricks to keep me and my wife entertained. Other servers were very friendly. Atmosphere was ok, if there a chance I will give another ½ star for chef David. The only problem was the chef don’t start cooking till the Teppanyaki Table was filled with people, it might take 15 – 45 mins. Even you have made a reservation. So make sure you have penny of time before you go to this restaurant.

I went here with a Entertainment Coupon. First off, let me say the staff was very polite and aimed to please. I think they were the owners. Portions are small. I would feel upset if I had to pay full price. Portions are fair and value is reasonable if you are paying the coupon price. When I was there the heat was off. Broken or saving money? Meats was good quality. I had the steak and lobster. Again, portions are small compared to other Teppanyaki places in downtown Vancouver. The sushi rolls were fantastic! The fried rice was stale and came out of a fridge. It appeared almost frozen as the the cook tried to break it up on the grill. The grains of rice were hard and unedible. A shame as I love fried rice. Owners are super nice and gave me my coupon back so that I can try the place again. I hope they read this review. All I want is fresh rice and some heat. Will be back soon to do a follow up visit.

Beware of this place… Menu is misleading. Overpriced teppanyaki menu for the quality and quantity of food they will serve you. People come here with BOGO coupon and I will say still not worth it. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else. As other people say this place don’t deserve even one star.

I had purchased a Groupon for four(ten course meal-cost $ 115 with a value of $ 265.80) as I had guests coming from out of town and wanted them to experience the fun of teppanyaki. Firstly, we had to wear our coats throughout our entire meal as there was no heat in the restaurant. Secondly, our ten course meal consisted of 1) tea, 2) miso soup 3) four slices of sushi roll 4) lots of onions, some zucchini with a few mushrooms grilled 5) two prawns, 6) about two or three ounces of grilled cod, 7) about three or four ounces of grilled sirloin strip, 8) fried rice, 9) grilled bean sprouts, 10) ice cream. I can not for a second, figure out how this meal comes close to a $ 265.80 value, in fact I don’t even think it was worth the $ 115 I paid. My next concern is what the 10 courses actually were. The elderly chef assigned to our table was boring and did not entertain us whatsoever. In fact we were in and out of the restaurant in 45 minutes. The food was very bland and had little flavour, even with the ginger and teriyaki sauces which also had no flavour. I spoke with someone at the restaurant about my concerns. I will never return to this restaurant. If they were trying to increase their clientele with the use of the Groupon, they had better re-think it. I didn’t even want to give them one star but had to.

This was the worst dinner experience I have ever had. I will never return here. Had dinner with my friends from Alberta what an embarrassment! The service sucked the food was terrible. The elderly chef insulted us by implying that we could not afford the the wagyu beef. I always thought that teppanyaki was supposed to be a fun experience. Not so at this place was boring the food was bland. If I was going spend $ 168.00 for an 8 oz of wagyu steak it would not be here. Our reservation was at 6:00 we left at 6:45. Did not even eat dessert. I really don’t think this restaurant deserves even 1 star. Just don’t go.

Came here for the first time on a Saturday evening and first things first… It was really quiet, 3 – 4 parties max. When you first walk in, they’ll ask you teppanyaki or sushi? We chose sushi and servers were nice and pleasant. Depending on what you order, it can be quiet costly… I’m only speaking on the sushi menu cause I didn’t order anything from the teppanyaki menu. My bf and I ordered 5 sushi roll/aburi and no drinks… the total was around $ 85(luckily I have a gift card). The rolls were suppose to luxurious and made with cavier, lobster and wagu beef… But cavier looked and taste like regular tobiko(just black). Tiny pieces of the lobsters in the lobster roll, the rest was just imitation crab. Tiny sliced piece of wagu beef on top of a california roll. The taste overall was alright. I hate to say it but i think I’d rather go to Sushi Garden because I know exactly what I’m getting for the value that I paid. I probably won’t come back.

I was satisfied with my lunch after going here. They had really good service and the waitresses were really nice. I ordered a sashimi boat as well as many different kinds of sushi. I felt like the service was little slow at times however, but that is my only complaint. From what I ate, I recommend the Saba Hako sushi with 6 pieces for $ 12.95. It is basically a Saba sushi with a piece of avocado between the rice and is flamed with a fire torch right infront of you. It was still warm when I had eaten it so the juiciness of the Saba was still there. Overall, even though I didn’t eat the teppanyaki as many others have recommended, I do agree with people who say this place needs a higher rating.

One of the worst Japanese restaurants I have every dined in. I received a $ 25.95 meal coupon for sushi and tempura as a gift. The sushi was mediocre, the tempura soaked in grease and the 2 pieces of beef was so chewy it could have been jerky. Against my advice the wife was sucked in and bought another meal for $ 25.95 — so we had 2 of these over priced crappy sushi and tempura meals. The service was poor with one guy running around trying to do everything. I would say if you want a good meal — avoid this place and go somewhere else.

The teppanyaki looked fun. The chef there was making tricks with cooking oil and fire to entertain the diners. I didn’t have the teppanyaki cuz I found it pricy. I went for their sushi menu. The food was ok. They didn’t seem to have enough hands to serve or what the service we had was slow. Maybe we sat at the corner they didn’t see us? Anyways. I might go back and try their teppanyaki with the groupon deals available.

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have a better overall rating! Perhaps I really appreciate the way the chefs provide the teppanyaki experience, but I seriously love coming here. We came here during Dine-Out 2015 and definitely felt that the $ 28 price tag was worth it. Our chef was particularly engaging — cracking jokes and flipping eggs around on his spatula like… an egg flippin’ master! :) The bonus about attending Dine Out is that it earns you a price-match coupon for another visit — so I’ve brought another friend here using that. We got one order of the steak and seafood teppanyaki to share, as well as a couple of rolls. As mentioned by Jeff H. — this place is worth visiting just for the rolls!

For a teppanyaki place, Yokohama has severely underrated fresh sushi. It’s right next to fisherman’s wharf, so how much closer to the ocean could you get? My favorite are the combos. They’re a fantastic deal for the amount variety you get: $ 12.95 for sockeye salmon sashimi, unagi don, seaweed salad, and tempura(Combo C)? Sold. I’m also a fan of the sushi/sashimi combos. We got sushi/sashimi combo B($ 22.95), which had sockeye salmon sashimi, assorted sushi, and surprisingly good California rolls. I’ve also had the chirashi don($ 22.95), which is a bit overpriced for what they give you, but you do get high quality sashimi: sockeye salmon(can you spot a trend in my sashimi tastes?), tuna, octopus, and the rare sea urchin. It’s rare to have urchin in a chirashi, so if you enjoy that you’ll like the chirashi here. In sum, for my money Yokohama has spectacular sushi and sashimi. I say skip the overpriced teppanyaki and come for the sushi/sashimi combos. You won’t be disappointed with the quality!

Been here twice in the last few months and won’t be back. I experienced: — Fish bones in the sushi; — Staff sweeping floors or washing windows around our table while we were eating(both visits); — A waitress who spoke very limited English and did not know their menu(had to point at items to order). The last straw was the sushi chef smoking a cigarette at the front door then going in to continue cutting sushi.

A sad disappointment: 1) Far location(there are other better restaurants to go to in Richmond) 2) Poor service(the waiters might take your food away before you finish eating it) 3) The food definitely has a lot to be desired in every way I had higher expectations for this place. I can now see why the place always has a 2 for 1 deal. The only good part was that it was entertaining to watch the chef cook.
