Place used to be the goto place in Richmond. Before it was Richmond Danish Bakery. Sadly, and without warning, this place has closed for good. There is a sign on the door thanking everyone for all the years. The store is empty. If you call them, the number is out of service. Unilocal needs to mark this place as permanently closed.

Delicious and reasonably priced ice cream. Try the coconut — it’s served with a wedge of lime, which really brings out the delicate flavour.

I think the proprietor was overwhelmed with the groupon experience and hey, that’s human. But she is also very sweet and definitely loves her ice cream. There is a lot of heart and real cream here, but it is a one woman show and that means things can get busy. She packs the ice cream by hand, and even having to back one can cause a back log of customers. There is ice cream made in store and also some from Annacis Island. The ice cream she makes is inventive and delicious– if it’s quiet ask for the tour of flavors and she will be happy to indulge you!

Lovely little ice cream shop with a variety of flavours including lactose free, egg free and sugar free. Since it is a small shop, not all the flavours and items are available. Best to call in advance to make an order. The ice creams for alternative diets is also very nice. The only disappointment is that the dairy free/sugar free ice cream is sweetened with malitol, a commercial sweetener. It would be nice if they used the natural sweetness from fruit. On the whole, it still has better ingredients than most ice cream you find in grocery stores that are filled with ingredients you can’t pronounce.

Love it! Great treats, great service and a great heart. You can tell that they care about what they do, and they are the nicest people ever. We host the Once Upon a Time Fan Podcast, and had already heard how good the flavors were(They even have OUAT characters flavors. Love Ruby Red.), but visiting and tasting these treats is a special stop for anyone(including, but especially an OUAT fan). It will be tough to choose which flavor to have, but you can taste if you are having trouble deciding. BigLove to Sara’s for making our driving trip to «Storybrooke» extra special. Thanks.

This place brings back some dear memories. Walking around Steveston as a child with my sister and father, my father trying to sneak us ice-cream without my mother knowing… eating mint chocolate chip ice cream as the sun set around Garry Point… waiting every week for a yummy, cold treat… and for that, for the pure nostalgic value Sara’s deserves a 4. :]

My son and I decided to spend a sunny day exploring Steveston and even though the wind was chilly he still insisted on having ice cream. Thankfully we ended up at Sara’s and were warmly welcomed by Kate. The flavors she has created were remarkable and she happily gave us tips on what else to see during our stay. We left with a delicious scoop of vanilla and cookie dough. It was thick, sweet and flavourful. Will gladly drive all the way back to have another.

I would love to give you at least 3 stars because your customer service is excellent but I couldn’t. Your ice cream needs A LOT of improvement. The amiable lady behind the counter gave me samples after samples of her home made ice cream. I had anything from«no-sugar» added vanilla, regular vanilla, pistachio, chocolate, and green tea. I was expecting to taste a faint hint of sweetness from the«no-sugar» added vanilla but was surprised to find out it tasted like a lump of sugar. I asked the lady what is making this ice cream so sweet even though the label clearly wrote no sugar. She answered, «commercialized sweetener». Oh boy! Big no no. I kept my comments to myself and proceeded on to trying other flavors. I find all the ice creams I sampled very sweet and very heavy except for chocolate, which gave a powdery texture, with very little cream. I can taste that the ratio of cream: sugar: fruit/nuts is very inconsistent. After I finished sampling I couldn’t justify buying any ice cream so I offered to tip the ever-so-helpful lady. And that’s the time when I told her why I couldn’t buy any, in a nice/polite way of course. I asked her if she had been to Bella Gelateria at the waterfront and so said no. I said to her I highly recommend her to try this place. The gelato there is well balanced with the right texture and flavor. In addition, the quality is consistent. She said she’ll give Bella a try and also told me she has signed up for a gelato making course and I said good for her. I told her I have no ill intentions and I hope she is not offended by my bold suggestion. She accepted my feedback well and wouldn’t take any tips from me. I hope my honest two cents could help her understand her customers better because I’d love to return and support the local businesses in my hood.

Anyplace that carries Tiger Tail and Hedgehog ice cream automatically gets four stars from me. They are my ultimate favorite ice cream growing up and it is a rarity in ice cream parlors, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw it at Sara’s! Tiger Tail — refreshing orange sherbet swirled with black licorice ice cream. Hedgehog — this creamy delight is after the Brussel’s hazelnut-chocolate. Done and Done and Delish!
