Came to this place with a Social Shopper voucher.
Limited free parking available, and the place was a little hard to spot.
The room we did was pretty bare boned and definitely nothing fancy or elaborate, but what we enjoyed was the logical sequence of the puzzles. Some times, with escape rooms, you are overwhelmed with so many things going on at once, you don’t know where to begin, or how they are all intertwined. This is not the case at Tixe, and it is the one thing that we really liked about this place.
As for service, it was horrible. We rang the bell for a hint, and nobody came for a few minutes. Meanwhile, we were stuck, and had nothing else to work on, so we just stood around waiting for someone. When a person did come, the girl didn’t know how to explain the puzzle, so we had to wait for her to go and get someone who COULD help us. Then, when the guy came in, he refused to provide any help whatsoever, telling us that we were doing the right thing and that we just needed to work on it more. (this has been going on for more than 5 minutes and we’re getting annoyed because the clock is still ticking!)
Not sure if I would return; maybe if there is another group buy deal, since we liked the layout of the puzzles, but we were not impressed by the service. I personally like my rooms a bit «fancier» too.

I went here for my Birthday — it was a great bonding experience, but I would not go here again and I definitely do not recommend TIXE to anybody else.
They don’t let you pick which clues you want/​need.
— One of our clues was «Amen» for one of the rooms and the girl did the sign of the cross as a solution to the lock. However, what she did was not the sign of the cross and she added a kow-​tow bow (imagine North East West South).
— Another clue was BOSS which translated directly to 8055 — not meant to piqué any logical mind and it definitely made me feel like I was back in 2005 when everyone was saying «whasaaaap» and uSiNg aLterNate capitalizations and numbers to replace letters.
At the very end of it, they don’t solve the room for you. I get the feeling they just want us to come back, but I’ve been to other rooms where they DO let us solve it.
Other silly things like not having a button to ask for a hint. Instead you have to shine your flashlight at a camera, so the girl kept coming in and asking us if we needed a hint.
And as for the atmosphere? the décor is nice, but the washrooms are DIRTY. For the amount of money that they make ($ 30/​person or even using a groupon, it’s $ 15/​person) they can afford a cleaner if they’re too lazy or too high on their horses to do it themselves.
I’m sure there are better places than TIXE. In fact, anywhere but TIXE is better

Boasting as Vancouver’s biggest escape room, my friends and I decided to try this place out. It was fun and the props were very interactive. Only downside was that the story was quite disconnected with the tasks. The props also showed signs of wear. Game master was very nice and even allowed an extra clue since my group and I were super stuck!

I can’t stop raving about this place. We decided to go with Tixe for our office team building and we loved it. We had three rooms booked for us and our office split and it was great, it really makes you think and the staff was great, very accommodating and just a real delight, the engaged everyone in conversation and made us all feel comfortable. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you want to use it as a team building great way to get everyone in one room. I’m sure it’s the exact experience when you go individually too!

I discovered this place because of the social shopper coupon they had and I’m so glad I did! This place has the coolest escape rooms by far! I’ve tried 3 other places and this one doesn’t even compare. It’s on an entirely different level. There are secret passages, bookshelves that move, songs that trigger black lights, entire rooms that move and so many other awesome things. The puzzles are also hard but not unbeatable. A lot of the other rooms I’ve been to, the puzzles are so specific and random and are just there because they needed to add extra obstacles. At Tixe, every obstacle is designed to help move you farther and have purpose; plus they all make sense. My friends and I couldn’t get over how much cooler this place was and we haven’t gone to another escape room since! Tonight will be our third time there and I’m sure we’ll be back! Go check it out, you won’t regret it.
P. S. Their waiting room is really cool too, there’s gelato and games and darts so it’s a fun place to kill time while you’re waiting for everyone to show up.

My friends and I had an amazing experience at Tixe. The 6 of us completed 90% of the Exile District challenge a couple weeks ago. In comparison to the 3 other escape room challenges I’ve done at different company, this one had a good variety of «puzzles» which allowed everyone in the group to contribute. At the other company, I felt strength in math gave you an advantage and it was difficult to do anything if you weren’t holding a flashlight, but TIXE was designed better so that math skills were not needed and the group members could see enough without flashlights.
I also liked that we had 60 min to complete more «puzzles» (as opposed to 45 min with fewer «puzzles» at the other place.)
We also ate Gelato beforehand. The Tiramisu and Green tea flavours tasted much better than I expected.

The puzzles are poorly crafted and illogical. My group never did feel challenged but just plain frustrated. The staff members never even introduced us to the story line of the room and mislead us. Very disappointing experience.

First time at Tixe. Very cool experience. I loved how there was a lot of physical interaction with the room rather than just using clues to open locks. The large number of rooms also gave a great sense of incremental progress. Better than E-​exit!

Totally different from any other room escape I’ve done — way more expansive (lots of rooms) and physically interactive than other room escapes I’ve done. It’s definitely unique and challenging.
I’m really excited to bring my friends that come to visit from out of town to experience it. It’ll be an awesome intro to room escapes!

Had my first escape room experience at TIXE yesterday with a group of friends. It’s a short 5 minute walk from the Bridgeport Skytrain station. Their red door is very easy to spot from afar.
The staff there are very friendly and professional. Special shoutout to Hao and Alex for making this a great experience.
If you brought valuables with you, they have lockers for you to store them with a key you can hang on to while you play.
I played in one of the more difficult rooms. Some of my friends had plenty of experience playing escape games and was still having a difficult time. It was quite difficult but not impossible to solve. Just need to calm down and think smart.
Definitely worth checking them out. They have a nice lounge area too and they are super chill and really welcome you to hang around before and after your game.

I first heard of TIXE on Vancity Buzz. After I learned that they are the largest escape game company in Vancouver with elaborately designed rooms, I immediately chose to go there for my birthday after my initial kayaking plan was cancelled because of the rain. Before we started the game, my friend’s boyfriend found Groupons for TIXE that saved us over 60% admission. That boosted our morale a bit, given that the regular price is $ 30 and it would be a costly experience to fail. ;-)
Our first challenge was EXILE. That’s right, we did another one pretty much right after the first because we enjoyed it so much! Starting off, the screen that played the back-​story was hard to see because we were confined in a separate area with limited vision. It was probably not crucial to watch, but I wished we could have seen it before being put into the small space. It was really fun to discover that the rooms led to another in an unexpected way. By a stroke of luck, we actually managed to get out of a room by fluke, and we progressed 90% before we failed.
A couple of my friends have played escape games elsewhere quite often, and they were blown away by the experience when we were debriefing. We sat in the lobby chatting for almost an hour and decided to go for another round (hurray for Groupons!). The staff member who helped us in the first challenge was nice enough to also give us discount cards for reviewing TIXE.
Our second challenge was Raven Citadel, the easiest challenge. This time we succeeded, but there was a point where we would have gotten stuck without hints no matter what (we have discussed it with the staff — hopefully they will address the issue). This room had really impressive, interactive props to elevate the fantasy theme. Because we fluked in the first challenge, the other staff member was skeptical when we escaped, which was pretty funny. However, we still had the rush of victory, given that the success rate is miniscule at this place. Look out for Team Whatever on the victory wall!
Despite my positive ravings, there is still room for improvement. My suggestions for this place are adding acoustic ambiance, engaging the storyline (at least for Raven Citadel), and having a faster hint response. There was no ambient music playing in either of the rooms, which would have added to the mood and immersion. Raven Citadel had speakers in the room that we were told not to touch, but they were never in use (and out of place, considering that the setting is an old castle in Transylvania). For this game as well, we were not briefed on the back-​story, and it was never incorporated in (nothing about the puzzles involved finding a cure for the disease our fictional brother was inflicted with, nor did we find a cure before we escaped). Lastly, to get hints during the games, we had to flash our flashlight into the camera. Sometimes they don’t notice or it took them a while to get to us, which eats into our time limit. I wonder if adding audio/​mic feedback in each room or using walkie-​talkies would be more efficient since there are cameras in every room (but they will need to be in a discreet place to give out hints too).
All in all, our experience was a blast. The drawbacks are minor, and if I could give 4.5 stars instead, I would. I have only experienced one other escape game before, but it did not give me as much excitement as this place did. The staff was friendly and receptive of our comments and suggestions. We anticipate coming back another time to try other challenges. Thank you, TIXE!

Location — very convenient. It’s right next to River Rock and the skytrain station. If you’re driving you just turn right onto River Road when you see the casino. There’s free parking in front of the warehouse. It’s next to a few other warehouses, so just make sure you don’t park in the wrong spots!
The outside is very unassuming, but the inside is really nice, and HUGE. The décor of the lobby is sort of Victorian/​rustic British chic. The lounge area was comfy and they had all these cute trinkets on the shelves. It wasn’t cluttered and was quite modern looking. There is a huge wooden double door (with a giant raven on it) that opens to let you in to access the escape rooms. There’s 4 countdown clock next to the doors, and you can see the time ticking down while other teams are finishing their turn.
I tried the Raven Citadel room (because raven is their logo) — it had _​_​chambers. We got 2 flashlights, so I was a little paranoid beforehand thinking it was going to be pitch dark (but it’s not). We got to the last chamber and ran out of time right before solving it, argh. Was somewhat disappointed but I guess the whole point is to be challenged so at least I was challenged haha.
Would recommend — I’ve already recommended to my colleagues for team building events. I’m scared easily so I had adrenaline pumping the whole time. They gave me ice cream after which was a nice way to be like «it’s okay you lost» haha.

Style of play: They are one of very few locations where force is needed. You will be required to move something quite heavy in one room. The actual room did not match the story whatsoever. We did a «ghost» type story room but ended up seeing nothing related to the supernatural at all. Disappointed, considering how important a story is for the feel and ambiance of the room.
Service: The service is the only reason why I am giving them a single star and even then, I do not think they deserve it.
Upon entering, we weren’t greeted, and the staff were playing darts. It took them awhile to realize we were standing there. They confirmed our booking, and lead us in. Oddly, the whole check-​in process took awhile. No thorough explanation of rules.
The staff have issues with English so a good chunk of our time was spent trying to decipher what they said during hint calls. Unfortunately, «sorry guys» was a common answer when we kept asking questions for him to elaborate since we couldn’t understand. We needed help with one lock, since it was stuck but he told us we were just wrong. If he had bothered to stay in the room when we finally did get it open, he would have seen we actually were right on the code.
They have NO hint button. You will need to wave your flashlight at the camera, praying they will see you and not playing darts. This is ridiculous considering how time consuming it is and how you’ll be out a player and a flashlight for a good 5 minutes.
Technical issues. Ok. Here’s the fun part. We were stumped at one spot for the longest time. Our time ran out, so the guy came in and told us we were supposed to use the blacklight/​UV. Umm, what UV? He went in to check and realized… Oh hey! It’s not working. It didn’t turn on automatically.
His response? «We had no idea there’d be a technical issue. The best I can do is 25%.» and upon seeing our frustration, «maybe I can offer you guys some gelato?»
So… What you’re saying is, you want us to come back, pay 75% to do the room again when we could have advanced had it not been for your technical issue? Oh, and we can eat ice cream? Yeah, good one. Ya’ll are so funny…
Location: Behind Riverrock, in a warehouse style area. Not very well lit, but convenient to get to. It’s really dirty… You’ll see dust bunnies, dead bugs, old rusty equipment/​cages.

We had such a fun time here! Even after continuously failing to progress in the game, we came out of it feeling pretty accomplished but at the same time wanting to try again. I feel, although I’m by no means an escape room expert, that that’s the feeling you should have coming out of it. For that, 5 stars for TIXE!
It’s located right next to the River Rock casino and Richmond night market. Very convenient. There’s a big red door, hard to miss. As you walk in, there’s a cool, hip vibe. Awesome barn style doors embossed with the black raven logo. You’ll also find some dart boards and a café for all your gelato/​waffle needs.
We took on the «Big Black» room (that’s a joke just waiting to happen) with a group of 7 people. Our team was so eager to get in there, but knew we had to manage expectations seeing that none of us had ever done an escape room. That being said, it did take a while to get going. We were technically allowed only two hints, but whenever we needed help one of the staff arrived promptly to bail us out and get us back on track! One hour flew by so fast. If only we had more time (not that we would’ve escaped, but it was so engaging that we didn’t want to leave)! We can’t wait to come back!
Moral of the story, if you like escape room games or are even remotely interested in seeing what the hype if all about, TIXE will not disappoint!

Very good escape game, I’ve been many escape game in vancouver, TIXE is the best I ever been, staffs are nice and friendly. One of the theme is really good for teamwork and is good experience. The decoration of the themes are nice.

My friends and I went to Tixe and played the prison room. It was the first time playing an escape game for some of us. The experience was so immersive and we had so much fun. When our time was up we did not want to leave. The game really forces you to think and to work as a team with your friends. It was a really fun night out and we kept talking about it for days. The rooms are very nicely decorated. I will definitely go back and try them all.
