Food is good but the kitchen staff and front line staff are loud and obnoxious… speaking their own language with no manner. Don’t go there after 8pm as they close at 9 or you they will be sweeping the floors and bringing you food at the same time without washing their hands. gross! They don’t deserve 15% for sure!

As far as Vietnamese food goes, this is pretty run of the mill. Reasonable Prices, good flavours, good selection. I would consider this more of a local joint as opposed to something one would drive half an hour for. I had the Special Phở, was pretty good I guess. Not bad for a meal out when you’re too lazy to cook, but certainly not a culinary experience. Was a good time, I guess!

My wife and I enjoyed this little place. Service wasn’t great. Seemed like they were understaffed for how busy they were everytime we have been there. Food was acceptable. Not stellar… not bad. As with most asian food… the doggy bag makes for a great bag lunch the following day. Prices were fair.

I was there September 23⁄15. Noisy lunch time environment. I was offered a table elbow to elbow with another guest but refused the table. No privacy. I came back an hour later around 1:30 pm. Much quieter. Clean restaurant. Prompt table service. Nice menu. Veggie choices. A little pricey. Lunch specials are ONLY on Tuesday and Thursday which is a bit disappointing. Wish they were every week day. Otherwise seems like a nice restaurant for Vietnamese food.

For some reason I stopped going to Taste of Vietnam. Those are years I will never get back. The salad rolls were fresh and tasty, dipped in either fish oil or peanut sauce, they are a great gluten free option off the menu. We followed that up with #90a, the Seafood Curried Coconut Sauce. Mouthfuls of prawns, scallops and squid, sizzling in a creamy curry sauce… nom… nom… nom… The seafood at Taste of Vietnam is always fresh tasting and prepared just so — no rubbery squid for them! The menu says it is spicy, but I’m not a big spice fan(eating shouldn’t hurt in my opinion) but this is more flavourful than spicy. Sweet spicy. Number 83 is prawns and peaches ‘n cream. A perfect foil for the more savoury 90a, the creamy sauce is almost dessert like, with the prawns done to perfection. Although they said the prawns were not gluten-free, I don’t think the batter was wheat flour, but rather a rice or tapioca flour. This brings me to why I rate this a four out of five. It would have a fifth star if we had been more secure in the gluten free options. The waitress didn’t seem to have a good handle on what we were talking about or what constitutes gluten.

A friend of me brought me here that happens to be a police officer and it was quite good. I only say is as they eat out a lot.

I have been there a few times already within the last two weeks since I moved to Edmonton, because it is really close to work. I always love a hot bowl of Phở(especially during winter time) and this place offers high quality Phở and other side dishes. Had the onion pancake the first time in my life(I guess it has to be a western thing, as I have never seen it in any Vietnamese places in Toronto), and it tasted great! Highly recommended for now and I will have to come back with more comments after trying other items later.

I have been eating here often for the last couple years. When we first went I wasn’t sure which was a decent go to but have now found it and that is all I seem to eat when I order take out. And most of the time I do just that: take out. The vermicelli noddle bowls are great! I normally get 22, chicken, pork and spring rolls vermicelli noddle bowl. And my wife always gets the Lemongrass prawns vermicelli bowl. If we are really hungry I will also order the Satay soup, and you can choose beef, chicken or assorted meat. Sup to you. Be advised — it is delicious!!! but if you don’t like spicy watch it :)

When I went with a coworker, she mentioned that, at previous job, her coworkers would drive over from Edmonton just to pick up lunch from this place –and I can see why. I’ve been here twice in the last month and both time, my food was delicious, flavourful and more unique than your average Vietnamese place. Yum!

First of all, we’ve been quite a few times, so this isn’t a first impression. Instead, this review is based on the food quality and service over several years. Upon walking in, the restaurant has nice presentation, appearing clean and understated. Unfortunately, the tables are nearly always sticky and the chairs often contain bits leftover from the previous diner’s meal. An closer look reveals condiment containers with drips down the side and even mould growing around the lids. I must add that the general griminess is a fairly new development. When we first began coming here, everything was always well taken care of. The bathrooms are clean and tidy. We’re always seated very quickly, though our order isn’t always taken promptly. The wait to order(or even get drinks) has been getting longer and longer each time we go. Since there are only two or three servers even during busy times, I’m understanding and would forgive a wait for our food, but to be left at our table without even water to drink for twenty minutes is a little much. Once ordered, the food comes fairly quickly and is on par with most other Vietnamese restaurants we’ve been to across the Prairies. They don’t have a vegetarian menu section, but do offer a few vegetarian dishes that are clearly marked. I’d like to see a little more variety here. They happily supply me with peanut sauce instead of fish sauce at no extra charge and at their own suggestion. I like the way they prepare the tofu for the vermicelli bowls — crispy and moist. Very tasty. Interestingly, the worst service comes when it’s time to pay. We’ve stood at the front with money in hand while our server seats other patrons, takes a few phone calls, and allows our transaction to time out on the machine while she accepts cash for a take out order. Once, she let the transaction time out and didn’t even look at the receipt, just tucked it into the drawer and then took another call. We waited until she was free and pointed out that the transaction hadn’t completed. She laughed and apologized, always friendly, but still… We’re not the dine-and-dash types, but we have marvelled at how easy it would be. I do enjoy having good food close to home, but I dislike shoddy service and sticky tables. I’m sad to say that we’re not going back.

A man that works at this restaurant had given my mom’s friend a gift card to give to me, because he wanted to date me. He left his number for me to call him if I wanted to get to know him too.(He met me once at my mom’s party) I wasn’t interested in getting to know him, but since he gave me a gift card, I wanted to bring my friend here. The first time we decided to go, they were closed for summer vacation. The next time we were free, I called to make sure they were opened! We went during the day on a week day. The first thing I did when I was inside the restaurant was check how much was on the gift card. The lady checked for me said that there isn’t any money on the card?! I asked if that man was working today and she told me he isn’t in right now… I told the lady to tell this man that he shouldn’t be giving people a blank gift card. Moments later, I realized he was probably using it as a business card?! Since we were already here, we decided to give it a try. We both ordered a beef noodle soup and a side of kim chi. The soup didn’t have any real flavors and the meat was alright. I felt like I was eating food from the food court. Also, Kim chi and onion cake didn’t originate from Vietnam. I couldn’t find a «taste» of Vietnam in my food. There was a lack of lighting and openness to the restaurant. As we were leaving the parking lot, the waitress ran after me to give me back my money, because that man just came in, and he paid for our bill. =)

More scrumptious food! I ordered the number 39, a kind of rice wrap grilled chicken dish. Crunchy fresh vegetables, stuffing was delicious. I want to explore more of this menu! I specially like the small closed Side rooms for small groups as well.

Chris: It was very quiet on a Saturday afternoon. They turned off most of the ceiling lights, resulting in a drab and depressing atmosphere. I had the quintessential bowl of phở w/rare beef. The broth tasted diluted. The beef was sliced a bit thicker than most other places; I practically could’ve used a knife and fork. Near the end of our meals, most of the staff sat down in the dining room and had their lunch without even flinching to see how we were doing. I stood in the middle of the room for a few seconds, flashing my hard-earned twenties, waiting for someone to accept my payment. David: I think it was inappropriate for the entire staff to be eating while customers are around. Otherwise there was a healthy amount of meat in my bowl of phở. Verdict: We hate to think that what we had was a «taste» of Vietnam, because surely, true Vietnamese cuisine should blow our minds. First impressions are important in many facets of life. For«A Taste of Vietnam», our first impression of the place was disappointing.

If you’re craving Vietnamese and you’re in Sherwood Park… this is your place! I highly recommend the coconut seafood curry… served on a sizzling platter with coconut rice… YUMYUMYUMMY! The sweet and sour soups is delish and the platters with wrap your own salad rolls with grilled meats, vermicellii, and veggies is delish! Light and Refreshing… Have probably been there a dozen times! NOTE — they have private rooms with shogi screens(no idea how to spell that…) that you can request in advance to make it a private and special experience!

This place has some of the best and freshest Vietnamese food I have had in Edmonton/SP area. I often go here for the vermicelli bowls and grilled platters(wrap your own with meat of your choosing) which are delicious and extremely well priced. They also have amazing Kim Chi and onion cakes as well as lemonade soda. The service isn’t always the best, can be slow and a bit abrupt, and they always forget our Kim Chi. However, the food itself stands out enough that it keeps me going back, and leaving full usually for about 12 $. Check it out if you are in the park!

I love the food at this place. It never disappoints. It is always fresh, tastes delicious, and their variety is amazing! The only thing that does disappoint me is the service as it isn’t always friendly.

I have a love /hate relationship with this place. Love the food. The staff… not so much. Waited over 20 minutes for my bill while the waitresses showed each other their new designer bags. Not friendly at all. But the place is very clean and by far the best food in Sherwood Park. Always hot, fresh and cooked just right. Cant always ask for protection I guess

Fantastic service, very little wait time and very consistent taste. I’m impressed in almost every regard… Almost. So what’s the hang-up you ask? Well, a wise Unilocaler once wrote that no business should ever receive all 5 stars. They should continuously strive for a perfect score. I agree as I believe that in search of the 5th star, the restaurant might do something truly taste-credible and I hope I’m there to enjoy it.

A surprise trip out to Sherwood Park the other day led us to A Taste of Vietnam. A large, clean, classy looking restaurant, it offers pretty much everything one would expect in a Vietnamese restaurant: phở noodle soup, vermicelli noodle dishes, rice dishes, stir frys, and the like. I, of course, had to try the phở(i am a real phở-natic!) and was impressed with the size of the portion and amount of sliced, medium-well beef. The broth could have used a bit more flavour, as it was very one-dimensional. Using some of the side garnishes helped with that a bit. My companion had the Shanghai noodles with chicken, which he enjoyed. It had a good flavour and a good portion size. He also enjoyed the onion cakes we had to start. The onion cakes are very large, taste almost baked instead of fried, and have a bit of ground chicken in them. They are also not cut, which made them a bit awkward to eat. The prices are in line with other VIetnamese restaurants, service was very fast(the fact we were there at an off hour probably helped), and again, it is a very nice place. If you are in Sherwood Park and looking for Vietnamese food, check out Taste of Vietnam.
