The Cosy is one of my guilty pleasures. It’s like going back to the sixties when Chinese food meant chicken balls and chow mein with excellent quality, large portions, friendly service and 1990s prices.

Wow, I can’t believe I’m the first to review this long-standing institution. I grew up in St. Catharines, and this is the place where I learned to love chinese food. Now I live in Toronto where I enjoy dim sum and cantonese, schezwan and Hakka cuisines. But every once in a while you just want a #3 lunch special. Chicken balls, fried rice, chow mein. When they are prepared well, they are great. Cosy makes the best chicken balls. And the dumplings are still made fresh daily by the matriarch who I believe is now in her nineties. If you think«continental chinese» food can’t hold a candle to the more pure forms of chinese cuisine, stop in here and prepare to be disavowed of that opinion. Enjoy.
