I had brought my car in after I was rear ended and silly me assumed that as they are Volkswagen they would be able to fix my cracked back bumper. See my car is a rare collector, ’96 Volkswagen Golf Harlequin.
After the estimate we booked an appointment to bring her in as I would need a courtesy car. The day before my appointment they didn’t have a car for me so we rescheduled… 3 TIMES… by the third time i expressed my frustration and the lady on the phone offered a rental later on but no one with a credit card was available as i dont own a credit card. THEN when I finally get out there with a family member… they don’t have a courtesy car. They all stand there staring at each other like they’re going to re-​book me. I live in new west so getting there is a pain and I suggested the rental I was offered last time… they reluctantly agreed. 2 days later I go in to grab my car, all looks well. in the shade. I get home and notice the bumper is a COMPLETELY different color and they’ve scratched my car… of course they’re closed and I have to call the next day. They said they would have someone call me. 1MONTH later I get a call and they book me in to re-​do the bumper 1MONTH after that.
I brought my car in and Miguel argues that it’s perfect and they only painted the middle where the Crack was, though the whole bumper was clearly a different colour and everyone I know noticed a difference immediately. He reluctantly takes my car and I get a call 8 hrs later that it’s done. 2 days to paint over a Crack but 8 hrs to redo the whole bumper? I smell BS. I go out there the next morning and it is still not right and the scratch is still there, but low and behold another scratch. I bring this to Miguels attn and he tells me he REFUSES to work on it further and I need to see icbc if I want him to fix it.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER! NEVER GO TO THIS BODY SHOP THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING! AND THEY HAVE ZERO CARE FOR HOW THEY TREAT PEOPLE!

I went in for a 30 pt inspection
I went in also for a diagnosis for a loss of power up a hills (like Royal Oak or Nelson)
Noted that there are no steep hills in Langley. …
After two hours of diagnosis, they said they have to let me authorize that up front they ended up finding nothing wrong. They said they drove up the hills in Langley…(sorry not the right hills) plus they said they can simulate them in their garage. I highly doubt this…
I drove the car that EXACT same night took a video of it and the situation was the same.
Then I was told they may need a car for a cold start… well they also then mentioned in my paperwork that there is a particular part for my car that may need to be replaced. I found out after I left from three other shops that part DOES NOT EXIST for my particular year and model of car… A part that the service advisor explained to me for 15 minutes on how it works in my car. !!
Plus telling me I may need a timing belt replacing if not yet done, even though I got one done from them only 13 670 kms ago.
They said a senior tech checked my car. Quite scary when they don’t know a VW car model parts, and how to diagnose their own brand name.
So yes, that is why I can’t go to a place that:
1. charges for 2 hours of diagnosis (who knows if they really checked especially since I have a video showing the symptom was there)
2. Tell me about a non existent part that may need replacing and that I should bring my car back to see if it needs replacing
3. tell me my timing belt MAY need replacing if not done when it was done 13 670 kms ago. I am quite concerned now knowing that it took two days for my timing belt to originally be installed by them. And now I am even more concerned wondering if they even installed it correctly to begin with, and also if questioning if quality parts were used… scary.
4. No one calls back after I left 3 messages, 2 for the GM and 1 for the Serv. Mgr. I have waited over a week with no response.
I hope the Better Business Bureau helps out. To all consumers, just because it’s a dealership, doesn’t mean they know how their brand of car works. Be careful and do your diligence in sharing your experiences with the BBB and also the head office of the dealerships you deal with. Be careful also and check out exactly what they are quoting you for! It may be something completely unnecessary or non existent.
update: got my monies back after going through BBB. Now I just got told by two shops the timing belt they put in has issues with less than 15 000 kms on it!!!
