The customer service from this furniture place is absolutely horrible. Once these people have your money they don’t seem to really care about giving the customer satisfaction.
I would not recommend buying from this store or chain unless you really have to. And if you have to then don’t give them all your payment upfront. Hold back at least 30% til you are satisfied of their product. I found their product to be of substandard quality and there are marks and blemishes that a professional company would not sell. As well, the drawers are not aligned well and do not slide open easily. Workmanship is poor and management is very reluctant to exchange the product sold.

Last fall we purchased a bedroom set (storage bed frame and drawers) from Modern Home Furnishings. I did a lot of shopping around because I knew exactly what I wanted but could not find it anywhere. I shopped at the MHF in Kitsilano but I was disappointed with their sketchy service so I went to this one in Surrey to buy what I wanted. Their showroom is great, not fancy, but clean and well laid out so you can easily see and test the furniture on display. I thought they did a great job of showing all the options available in terms of stain colour and hardware.
The sales lady at this Surrey location is lovely. She was very patient and helpful, and initially when I just wanted to browse she left me alone which I very much appreciated. I hate it when sales people follow you around when you just want to browse! She was readily available when I did have questions and was very knowledgeable about the products. When taking my order she was very specific and thorough, ensuring I would get exactly what I wanted — I really appreciated that.
Their products are made locally, and they can have your custom order ready in 1 – 2 weeks; at the time we purchased home delivery including set up was under $ 70 (all the way to Yaletown)… an great value. They have several different stain colours to choose from and also different hardware so you can easily match your décor and get exactly what you want.
The reason I waited to write this review was to determine the quality of their products. We are throughly satisfied. They are well made, and solid. No complaints in terms of quality from what we saw in the showroom to what showed up in our home.
My only minor gripe was delivery, it was a little bit of pain to organize — they were coming one day and then I got a call in the morning to say they weren’t, then the following day we could only accept delivery at a certain time and I got a call in the morning saying they would be there after that, so finally it got delivered a few days later. That aside; when they did finally arrive, they were efficient and quick. Set up was done professionally, perfectly placed and they were out of there much faster than I had anticipated.
Great local business, great service, great product — recommended.
