Blo Blow Dry Bar

Very disappointed, we git there on time and started late. My friend’s hair looked crazy and she basically had yo tell them every step of the way how she wanted it. I brought my extentions with me and they didn’t even put all of it in saying that my head was too small. … hummmm they are the extension that I wear everyday. I suspect the reason why she rushed through it was because she took too long to dry my hair always commenting that I had a lot of it I had specifically called to make sure everything was fine and specified that I had thick hair. They don’t have the proper tools or knowledge to do a good job with clip ins but still charges you a quite a bit more yo have them put in. Because they didn’t put all of my pieces of extensions in it looked like I had a long mullet, really not a good look. And the curls never held so it looked awful after an hour. Plus we were on our way to a wedding and I had a high collar outfit on and the don’t provide robes or capes so half of my top got wet. Overall an awful experience.

One of the most beautiful blow outs that I have had in a while, and hands down the best Blo location that I’ve been to (I have also visited the Bayview and Yorkville locations in the past). I came here after a spa day at the Caudalie spa next door. My stylist was attentive, honest, and very efficient with me. I have received compliments all night and even the next day when I returned back to work. A great treatment post work out and spa treatments to make you feel like a fresh new woman!

Went here as part of an all-​encompassing girls weekend that revolved around the Shangri-​la.
My sister had suggested a blow out at Blo because she had a very positive experience in Vancouver with this chain which was high-​end and trendy.
Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite: the salon was extremely small, not very well kept (the magazines had hair caked to them), the stylists relatively unfriendly, behind schedule (by at least 15 minutes without a call advising of same), used disposable towels (why?), and hair came out looking entirely different from pictures.
The consensus: the brand Blo means nothing. There is zero consistency among locations; quality control, an essential ingredient to a good franchise, is non-​existent.
This salon does NOT belong in a high end hotel next to a world class salon, it belongs next to a college campus.

My hair turned out OK– definitely not worth the $ 42. The service was mediocre at best, in fact when I mentioned that I didn’t like how my hair was parted, the lady kissed her teeth and said I should have said something earlier. Feeling guilty, I left it and just paid for it. Something was wrong with their machines as my credit card was not approved, I received another look of disapproval before I insisted she tried again. And what do you know. it went through.
One thing that I really did not like was that the hair brushes they used were not clean. You can see strands of previous clients’ hair still stuck in the bristles…

I had a really nice experience here. I booked quite last minute and was able to get an appointment. I requested the additional head massage — it was great! I was looking to get something not overly straight because I have waves and wanted something that showcased them, with some smoothing action. I picked the «pillow talk» style with some additional wave. I really liked the outcome — my hair looked great! Similar to another reviewers, it looked nothing like «pillow talk» — which was fine. So, noting that do not expect an exact replica of the menu offering.
Overall I really enjoyed my experience here — they were polite, efficient and effective. My hair looked amazing and still does. Definitely recommend.

I went to Blo Bar to have an updo for my wedding rehearsal dinner. My experience in the Shangri La was lovely, beautiful hotel and the staff were very helpful directing me to Blo (finding it was a bit tricky). Once I got in the salon I was surprised by how small and stuffy it was. The staff made me feel very rushed because it has a very in and out booking system, but I was hoping for a fast beautiful do’ so I tolerated that. While the woman doing my hair was lovely the hairdo was horrendous. I ordered the «high society» straight out of the book. The bun was totally lopsided and the woman put in an extraordinary amount of pins that didn’t seem to do anything (not standard hairpins, some kind of open one). End result, lopsided bun and my hair started falling out almost immediately. I shed pins in the car on the way to the church, during the rehearsal, owner dinner, I basically left a trail across toronto, must have shed over 20, so embarrassing! That would have been tolerable if my hair stayed but it also started falling our right away. Literally every picture from behind from my wedding rehearsal makes me cringe. I was incredibly disappointed with Blo. I would have been better off if I had done a sock bun on my own. Waste of money, will not return.

I’m an American and I was visiting Toronto for a wedding and I booked an appointment using the app for a blow out for the wedding.
I booked the appointment after hours and because I booked the appointment using the app, I wanted to call and confirm the appointment before I walked all the way to the salon. So I called around 11:30 to confirm my 2:00 appointment, no answer. I speak to the front desk at the Shangri-​La hotel and they inform me that Blo opens at 12 on Sundays. Ok, so I call back at 12:10. No answer. The same at 12:30. I called the hotel’s front desk and they said they didn’t know if anyone was there because Blo isn’t affiliated with the hotel. (Really? Blo is the Shangri-La’s tenant, there is some affiliation). Finally, I called at 12:40 after bitching at the Shangri-​La and someone answered and confirmed my appointment. It took me 5 phone calls and one hour to confirm the appointment. Not acceptable.
When I walked into Blo, there was only one stylist working, no receptionist, and the stylist was still working on the previous client.
This location needs to get their shit together, get organized, hire someone to answer the phone, and be on time.
Oh, and they did not use a cover/​wrap, but instead used disposable towels, so the back of my shirt was wet.
The hair stylist was great and did a wonderful job and I would give her 4 stars, but the overall experience was stressful.

Came in today while I was in town for work, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I have very long, thick hair and Juna had me in and out (blowdry & flat iron) within 35 mins which is a record for me. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love the concept of Blo Blow Dry Bar — no cuts or colour, just wash, blow drys and up-​dos. I needed to get my hair done for a wedding on the weekend, so I chose Blo based on Unilocal reviews and their reasonable prices. I emailed Blo with a photo of what I wanted done to see whether it was possible and they emailed me back straight away. This location is intimate — it’s basically just two wash basins and 4 seats but with a lovely view from the 5^th floor. I was really happy with my do, and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Because my hairstyle was «off-​menu» it was a little more pricey — $ 85 with tip. My hair looked amazing and I got tons of compliments! I’m going to have to learn to braid my own hair so I don’t have to pay these prices but, until I do, I know Blo will be there for me!

Visited the salon on January 18^th, 2014 for a night out with my girlfriends and was absolutely thrilled with how it turned out!

When I couldn’t get an appointment at my usual Blo in the Path, I called up the Shangri-​La and managed to get an appointment.
The chain seems to have altered their hair menu a bit and updated it with some new styles. A blo-​out will cost you $ 35 + tax (includes wash). They currently have 7 styles to choose from — from jet straight to huge curls to Audrey Hepburn «Breakfast at Tiffany’s» chic.
This particular location has a great view (it’s on the fifth floor).
I opted for the «Pillow Talk» which is supposed to be reminiscent of loose wavy hair on a beach babe, but it turned out more Carrie Underwood big curls. With that said, I didn’t hate it and I’ve never been disappointed with a Blo-​out at Blo Dry Bar.
They can blow me any day ;)
