Brunching In the Burbs @ Olio

Kris, way to treat us to something this fancy! Loved every second of it. Starting with the bottomless mimosas and Baileys coffee — I so wish I wasn’t driving! I tried a glass of mimosa though — fantastic!
I loved the buffet brunch; actually want to go back. Olio was fantastic — location, décor, food, and the ambience created by the singer/​musician). Food-​wise, I quite enjoyed the prime rib, deli meats and salad. I am usually not much of a brunch person, so I was plesantly surpised at how much I enjoyed this experience.

There was so much to eat, I didn’t even get a chance to try everything! My favourite had to be the waffle station and the mimosa.
My dad definitely enjoyed this meal and was complaining how dinner that night was bland compared to what we had for brunch!

It was an great spread for brunch, and it’s nice to find something in this neck of the woods, as if I have to meet some west end friends we usually have to head either further west or east for something decent.

Where to even begin?! This event was definitely hands down one of the BEST Unilocal events I have been to, I’m so happy that I was able to attend! I honestly could not believe my eyes when I first walked in and saw the amount of food that was lined up for us to try. And that was only the beginning, there was also bottomless mimosas courtesy of Jackson Triggs and bailey coffee for us to enjoy. Not to mention, there’s a centre table full of Unilocal swag for us to grab. My +1 who had never been to a Unilocal event said I’m literally in food heaven right now!
Olio did an AMAZING job on the food! At first I had my reservations as my previous experiences with hotel restaurants weren’t that pleasant. This one was definitely beyond my expectations! The brunch selection offered many breakfast favourites such as eggs benedict, roasted potatoes, sausage, bacon, waffles, croissant… the list goes on. There was also salad bar, cheese platter, fruits, roast and an assortment of desserts available. Me and a fellow Unilocaler had a full out discussion on which ones to try as there were so many options available and just one stomach to fit it all! Thank goodness for sharing, I was able to get a taste of almost all of them.
The staff were all extremely friendly and came frequently to help us clear our plates and glasses to make room for more. Thank you to Adrienne who sang for us, her voice is amazing! She plays at Olio on Wednesdays, I would recommend bringing a date there– she definitely sets the mood!
Huge thank you to Kris and Olio for making this happen, it honestly would not have been possible without your hard work! Also big thank yous to Jackson Triggs and the staff for serving us and making this brunch such a pleasant experience! Can’t wait to come back again to have another delicious meal here!

Kris U, you are an awesome host and CM. I was impressed that you arranged all the name tags on tables for us. Love it love it much:) The whole brunch event was so organized and cozy and excited and stuffed (with all the very good food, mimosa and Baileys Starbucks coffee).
The Olio restaurant manager, waiters and chefs were very professional and friendly. I really appreciate their sincerity contributed to this Unilocal event.
The live music was fantastic. The female singer’s voice was amazing. Usually, she sings for the restaurant on Wednesday nights. She was especially arranged to sing for this Sunday brunch event for us… how wonderful!
I brought my best girlfriend as my +1, and she was all happy and excited. I brought in one Unilocal member now: D
Will I come try Olio again? I certainly will !

Well Kris did it again! Another spectacular Unilocal event that wound up with me leaving stuffed and satisfied.
All of the food was great but the standouts for me were the salmon (this is coming from someone who has maybe had salmon 4 – 5 times in my life) and the prime rib. Wowza. I also had Eggs Benedict for the first time and I quite enjoyed them. not sure if they’re a breakfast staple for me but the egg was poached perfectly.
Mixing up the seating was a great way to get us meeting new people and I always say that the Unilocalers I meet at these events are the nicest bunch, makes attending an event alone not so intimidating :)

For my first-​ish Unilocal event, I’m suitably impressed and full to bursting. Many thanks to Kris, Olio, Jackson Triggs and Adrienne Borges for a fantastic event!
Everything was delicious. My strategy was to eat my way through the savoury and save dessert for last. Loved the Eggs Benedict. I’m usually not a fan, but the hollandaise was light and creamy. Special shout out to the cold bar with pesto bococcini and tomatoes, assorted artisan cheese, and shrimp cocktail.
In addition to the fabulous bottomless mimosas, there was coffee with the naughty option of Bailey’s. The latter was a great pairing with the raspberry-​peach strudel (by far the BEST dessert today!)
I’m happily full, and planning on coming back to Olio to try their lounge night, mellow jazz and cocktail options. But of course, brunch won today, and I’m sure I’ll be back!

Full buffet brunch. Fresh waffles. Prime rib. Mimosas. Coffee and Baileys. Yummy!!!

Could brunch get any better???
The friendly folks from Olio, the Sheraton and Jackson Triggs delighted us with a very memorable time today!
I was blown away by the sheer volume of deliciousness that was presented before us. The place itself looked fantastic and there were smiles all around. To top it off, was Adrienne Borges who herself was awesome as she regaled us with enticing vocal tunes as we ate in delight.
Olio itself looked very laid back and a beautiful venue to enjoy. It reminded me of being back at those colorful fresco on the walls restaurant that you find at resorts in the Caribbean! I definitely want to come back on the weekends for their advertised brunch as my usual +1 is a heavy favourite of brunch on Sundays.
The eggs benedict and prime rib were particularly tasty, as is the crème brule cheesecake! And oh my, mountains and mountains of crispy bacon made it all perfect!
Kris, thank you so much for organizing. General Manager Mike, thank you for hosting us. Please give your front staff and kitchen staff a big pat on the back and gratitude for making the experience one of the best in all of the GTA!

Thank you Olio and Kris U. for this spectacular Sunday afternoon brunch. I was definitely not expecting to see a full buffet laid out for everyone with a variety of amazing dishes. On top of that we had bottomless mimosas, a carving station, salad bar and live music by a really talented musician!
The service was impeccable and the venue was the best of the best! Wait, did I mention the waffles?! The best thing I have had for a long time!
This was definitely the best event of this year. I wonder if Kris will pull out another amazing event which will beat this one (as I was clearly wrong when I thought that he couldn’t outdo the Elite event at the Woodbine racetrack).

Let me just come right out and say it: this was fucking amazing event.
It was a bit of trek for us, but totally worth it: full breakfast buffet with bottomless Jackson Triggs mimosas and Baileys coffee.
I usually consider brunch the laziest thing a kitchen can do. And I usually avoid hotel restaurants. But the food from Olio from outstanding. Prime rib carving station, baked salmon, delectable selection of cheeses and cured meats, waffles, eggs benedict, seafood salad, top notch pastries and desserts (including that cheesecake). I think my favourite things were the seafood salad and cheesecake. The service from the staff and our host Mike was exemplary as well.
While enjoying this meal, we were serenaded by the Adrienne Borges (@adrienneborges on Twitter). And it was great meeting and chatting with our tablemates, Eva and Albert.
Kris spoiled us rotten — everytime Mike or Kris came by and checked on us, I was either laughing, had a mouth full of food or was taking a sip from my champagne flute.
Seriously, this event was Treat. Yo. Self. 2014 (
). We skipped on the clothes, fragrances, massages and fine leather goods later in the day but this is a brilliant start on any day.
I usually hate Pearson airport, but am looking forward to the next time I’m flying in to/​out from YYZ on a Sunday. Or I’m just going to find any excuse to hit up Olio again.
In short, I usually despise brunches (serving eggs with a side of cantaloupe and charging $ 15 for it), hotel restaurants and airports — but this this was an all-​star event. Thanks again to Kris for organizing an outstanding event — probably my favourite of the year thusfar.

Forget about waking up early, fighting traffic, trying to find parking, only to wait in line for sub-​par food in a stuffed-​to-​the-​rafters, downtown restaurant with rude servers.
(Doesn’t this all defeat the purpose of BRUNCH? Which is to ease into a weekend afternoon after a late night, meet up with friends to catch up, and enjoy a good meal with equally good company??)
Well, if that’s the purpose the brunch, Olio at the Sheridan Hotel near Pearson meets all the criterion: little-​to-​no traffic, tons of free parking while dining at the restaurant, great food with equally attentive wait-​staff. All you hafta supply is the great company which was there today at this Unilocal event!
Food-​wise, I’d say that this particular event blew other Unilocal events — inching pretty close to a paid one too! — out of the water. There was soo much selection that was above ‘n beyond just the scrambled eggs, bacon/​sausage, chopped fruit blah that you normally get at any brunch restaurant.
Olio took these staples and elevated it to the next level with: eggs benny, various pastries (including danishes, croissants), pieces of baked salmon, hand-​carved prime rib station, roasted new red potatoes, artisan cheeses, seafood salad, and tons more stuff… including DESSERTS! See pictures.
And if you’re into the traditional porkie offerings like bacon & sausages, they had that too. So don’t worry, they’ve got you covered. All this + bottomless mimosas w/​Jackson Triggs sparking wine + live music by a talented singer/​guitar/​keyboard player + friendly Unilocalers + Kris, the hostess with the mostess.

BIG thanks to Kris for an absolutely incredible event. Wonderful to see all the other Unilocal elites too and their guests. A pleasure to be around such fabulous people.
Now…onto Olio! Loved all the smiling faces, the atmosphere and of course, the food! After reading Kimberley’s review I wish I had saved room for the prime rib. I heard great things! I loved my eggs Benny and mentioned to Mike that the egg was cooked perfectly. The beet salad was also a hit for me along with the desserts. I have a big sweet tooth so I indulged in a blueberry Danish, various other sweets and of course the waffles and they were all delicious! There was this one chocolate tart that I also had a moment with… I was a little sad to see there was none of the crème brûlée cheesecake left but I was ready to burst at that point so probably a good thing!
Yum yum yum and so great to see the other elites. This was my 2^nd elite event and couldn’t have asked for a better event. Shout outs to Rana and Simon for being fantastic dining companions.
Ah…I could go for another baileys and coffee…

Best brunch experience I’ve ever had! I’m glad I got to experience it with my girlfriend and other fellow Unilocalers!
Olio is quite easy to find with a swanky set-​up. It was inviting, hip and classy. We were greeted by very friendly staff and a wonderful singer who sang wonderfully.
Our starters were coffee with baileys and mimosas from Jackson triggs! We then were introduced to a line up of great brunch classics like salmon, eggs Benedict, homemade waffles and deserts, bacon and eggs, cheeses, fresh fruit and so much more!
The vibe was truly great and Kris has once again succeeded in wowing us. As for Olie, we will be definitely be back and have brunch here again with family and friends.

Adrienne was really enjoyable and a joy to listen throughout the event, with an even mix of top 40 and original songs that was perfect for her vocal range. I can’t think of an event that has been so chill and festive. It is like a break with friends.
The antipasti section had caprese salad with grilled veggies! Wonderfully cool and refreshing.
There was also a carving station with roasted meats.
There was also a spot on for eggs Benny’s and salmon and Belgian waffles too, along with your other breakfast standards.
The salmon was cooked just right with just enough flavour and it wasn’t dry.
The desserts — there was crème brûlée cheesecake, fresh fruit. Waffles with the cheesecake and whipped cream and berries sooooo good. (Completely blissed out here — now I just need a nap to recover)

This was my first elite event where I wasn’t a plus one, and I got to say… it was awesome.
As soon as we walked in the vibe felt great and the place looked nice. The lady who was sing and playing music was amazing; great voice and smooth tunes.
There were so many options for food. From veggies to eggs, to prime rib sea food… and of course a bunch of tastey desserts. One of my favorites were the Eggs Benedict. It was my second time trying it and had a bad first experience, but this one was fantastic. I also really enjoyed the potatoes. They were seasoned well unlike most places I’ve been to.
Thanks so much to Kris and Olio for providing this amazing event. Definitely had fun and ate lots.

Mimosas woooowww!!! Those are good. This is by far THE BEST Unilocal EVENT EVER. Yup I said it. I am a big big foodie and the brunch was top notched. This event was so organized, Kris you did such an amazing job.
They had a wide selection of food, I was stuffed! My tummy was very happy today. Those prime ribs, holy molly those are good. The desserts and waffles were sooooo amazing. They also have a great selection of the salads. This is by far the best brunch, the food were hot, salmon are tender, not dry at all. Staff were so friendly. The atmosphere of this place was amazing, clean, live music — she was amazing and she sings every Wednesday night.
I would def come back, I would have to bring my parents here… I’m sure they would appreciate this amazing brunch as much as I have! Thanks again Kris. AMAZING.

This is by far one of my most favourite elite event ever! I am happily full while writing this review. Thank you to Kris and Olio for holding such a great brunch event!
Everything that I was able to try was delicious! My favourite was definitely the prime rib. I had it three times haha! The gravy with sun dried tomatoes was absolutely perfect for the prime rib. I also liked the eggs benedict and Olio was able to make it much better than other places. The egg was poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was light.

The service was excellent & I had a feeling it would be for Sheraton Hotel. Mike also came around to make sure we were all happy and that everything was perfect.

Also loved the yummy drinks! The Mimosas by Jackson-​Triggs was so good! I had like two. The Baileys was great as well. What am I going to do from now on with a regular double double?

Like seriously, do I really even need sentences? Wish I could give this event 7 stars as this was by far, one of the super best Elite events ever. It was also great of Kris to give us mixed seating so that we can mingle with other Unilocalers that we don’t usually talk to as much.
