Caffe Furbo

I went in looking for drip coffee, the guy at the counter suggested Americana… it was incredible. Not to mention the guy making the coffee enhanced my experience… all around fantastic

I love the ambiance of this place. It’s like an art gallery turned into a caffe with expose wooden beams and brick walls with amazing Hott goods along with desserts and coffee. They also have almond milk option for the lactose intolerants. I tried their Lentil Mediterranean soup along with a latte and it was really delicious. In the midst of cafés at Distillery this one is a hidden gem! I will be back here again.

I was told by a few people how great Caffe Furbo was and so when I recently moved to the area, this has become my coffee shop of choice.
Furbo is an artsy place with very good expresso-​based drinks — and some great pastries or sandwiches to go along with your latte or whatever you drink.
Kevin, the owner is such a friendly guy and when he learned I had just moved back from Spain, he asked me how I like my latte. Unlike most Canadians, I don’t like a bucket of coffee so I said I prefer something smaller. «You got it,» he said. Since then he has been tailoring my macchiato just the way I like it and when I arrive, he automatically makes it.
That’s the value a «local» caffe where the owner is there every day.

If there was an award for the worst espresso bar in Canada, Caffe Furbo would win by a landslide.
The space is beautiful, provided you like seeing mice. As I sat there I watched not 1, but 5 different mice run along the walls, across the dining area, and up the pillars.
And they somehow figured out how to create the worst tasting cappuccino ever created. The milk was scalded to the point of curdling. There were chunks in the foam. And the espresso was pulled from an over hot machine creating a bitter, ash flavor.
And this single shot cappuccino cost $ 4.39!
I didn’t complain or return the coffee, because I was there to meet a person for a business meeting. I just put aside the coffee and buried my disgust.
I can’t believe this place exists. Do yourself a favor. Don’t get suckered in by the intriguing, artistic space. If you’re craving a coffee walk over to Balzac, and don’t even consider this place for food. If the mice are running around the dining room, just imagine the state of their kitchen.

I was happy to find Furbo from the always lovely Distillery district. I have usually gone to Balzac’s but now I will be going to Furbo too! I loved the décor, very cool furniture, good ambiance overall. The tea selection was great and the coffees seemed to work well too (didn’t taste those myself but my partner did). Next time I will have to try some of the paninis, maybe with a glass of wine… I found free seats from here as Balzac’s was very crowded at the same time. I think I will be coming straight here the next time!

Two very pretty and friendly girls served me… and were happy to make a great custom iced espresso drink for me. They were a lot of fun to deal with, no attitude and I look forward to going back, thanks!

Love this place, always go here for lunch when I’m in the distillery. Usually go for whatever soup they have on with a panini (chicken pesto today). Great service and relaxing spot to hang out!

Step in and feel like you’re transported to Italy! Great espresso and you can even grab some beer too :)

Service here is excellent! The owner was kind to ask us what we wanted and specially crafted our coffee/​hot chocolate to fix our mid day slump. This guy knows his stuff! Best Baileys and coffee I’ve had in awhile. The place is super modern and chic inside with interesting and unique art installations. The prices are good and — although I didn’t try the food — it looked excellent (smelled good too)! Come here while you’re passing through the Distillery District!

Garbage americanos – bitter and served in a &$@#%ing glass (when are these pretentious coffee shops going to get it through their thick skulls not to serve hot liquids in handle-​less glassware?!?)
«Oh,» says the clueless counter girl,“would you like that in a paper cup instead?“
Yes, please, I’d like to retain my fingerprints thank you very much.
Ham and brie sandwich is decent. Décor is cool.
But I won’t be coming back here.

Café Furbo is easily the best coffee in the Distillery. Kevin (the owner), is super friendly and the food is awesome. They are also licensed to serve alcohol, so if a quiet meditative space to work and sip a latte is your thing, or have glass of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, look no further.

Really great coffee and tea selections — you can even add a shot of baileys for hair of the dog :) very good service. I think it would be a super cute date spot — it’s a bit tucked in away from all the madness of the distillery.

Great coffee! Good food. They’re friendly. I’ve always felt The Distillery is too touristy but, this is where I’d go for coffee when here.

Love my macchiatos and was really pleased here! The price was fair, offered cups to stay vs. assuming I wanted to waste paper to go, and I enjoyed the artwork on the walls. (Is that sexy orange and blue bike always there or just this time?)

Wonderful space and the menu looks good. We just had drinks there and sat inside to cool off on a hot day. The gentleman working there was knowledgeable and friendly. Free WiFi for paying customers.

Best Americano I’ve ever tasted. For sure. He pulls shots lightning fast.
I can TOTALLY see how others may have been bothered by the male owners «flashy bravado» (perfect descriptive)… So long as he he keeps it down I’m totally fine with it haha. The eccentricity can even be a little endearing. But not when I’m tired :(
Be careful on those white seats! The one i’m currently on is super wobbly.

Why get half decent coffee with so many options around?
This place is all show, and does not offer a great product. The girl behind the counter is beautiful, but doesnt know the difference between an espresso and a cappuccino. The guy making the drinks (owner?) is all flash and bravado, but cant really steam milk to save his life.
If you want to see classic Eames furniture and have badly brewed espresso than this is the place for you.

Another lovely café in the Distillery — love the arty, cool interior and friendly service. Hope to be back soon !

This place is like a modern and bright version of the The Mascot over on Queen West. I think Furbo goes well with the Distillery District and while I was there all I could think of was that it would make a great venue for a private event, they had a decent wine list and beer available but the overall lack of food was a downer for me, I had a chocolate croissant which I wish I had warmed up but was delicious nonetheless.
My latte (lacking the art) was not the type of drink I have come to enjoy, just gave that strong bitter taste I’m not a fan of. My friend also noted her drink was not amazing (can’t recall what she got though).
But everything else in here is very nicely done, nice art to gaze at while seated and funky artsy furniture to sit on enjoying the free wifi. I will definitely be visiting again as this place does have the chance to make it up to that 4 star region.

Great addition to the Distillery District. This newly opened café is probably going to give Balzac’s some stiff competition, however I think they will be able to co-​exist as they are different enough. While Balzac’s is more cozy, Caffe Furbo has a clean, minimalist aesthetic with great modern art on the walls. The biggest difference is probably that CF is licensed and has a wine list.
I came here on a weekday and it was really quiet. Other than me, just a couple people that looked like there were on a business meeting. I had a nice latte and read a book. There are cute little coffee tables, but this is not the place to come to do work (tables are too low to comfortably write/​type on them). More of a hanging out place.
The owner (an artist himself) was really nice. The vibe is relaxed with some chill music playing but not too loud. They had some tempting sweets on display (scones, chocolate croissants, tarts, biscotti) but I didn’t indulge this time. They also have orangina and other cold drinks. Wine is available by the glass or the bottle.
I’m sure this place will do well!
