College Street Animal Hospital

The quality, care and attention that the staff at College Street Animal Hospital has shown my cat has been excellent. Equally impressive is Dr. Saram, who is knowledgeable, patient and connects well with my cat. If I ever have questions, they’re answered by a phone call or pretty quickly with an email, and it’s comforting that they have the knowledge, reading resources and tips to pass along to you for at home care.
*A huge benefit is Dr. Saram’s willingness to educate me as a pet owner. On two occasions over the last couple years, he’s provided preventative tips to keep my cat healthy, and it’s saved us from extra trips to vet and procedures.

Dr. Saram and his team are incredibly knowledgable and warm in managing us and our cat Bowie. Their pricing is competitive for a downtown clinic and Dr. Saram has consistently gone above and beyond to offer preventative measures in the best interest of the animal to avoid costly and invasive future procedures.
Highly recommend the College Street Animal clinic especially if you’re a first time pet owner.

Front desk staff are excellent — especially Tiffany and Paula. Even though I may not visit for months they still remember my pets name and issues. Dr. Saram is also great. He never aims to over charge you and you can tell he really cares for your pet. The office regularly follows up to check on progress.

The front desk were very good. I had called a day before, and the earliest appt was the next day for my cat’s swollen eye. He was travelling by air with my sister in a few days so I was worried. Somehow my appt was made for 10 rather than 12, but they booked me in right away.
The vet assistant showed me to the exam room. I had two kittens with me, each for a check up. She let them out of the carrier and assured me they could roam about. I was worried about the swinging door in such a small space but the they knocked sharply every time, which gave the kittens time to scatter. The assistant weighed them and I gave her the medical history and microchip tag info, which she immediately had photocopied. The professionalism was reassuring.
Dr. Saram was at reception desk before. I didn’t know it was him until he came into the exam room. Kind of weird, he could have introduced himself before. His attitude was at first alarming. It did feel like an attack rather than advice. His attitude changed once he knew I was onboard, and taught me how to admonish bad behaviour (Totoro liked climbing up legs). He was very helpful. He showed me how to give them worm medicine by holding their jaw. I was a proud mama when he said I clipped their claws well. I asked about the flying and he suggested a sedative, but only if my sister was worried. We ended up getting him calming treats instead from PetValu.
As for cost, I’m not sure what the going rate is, but each cat cost about $ 70 plus medicine for a check up. Anyhow, as a new cat owner, I highly recommend this vet. Very knowledgeable and keen to teach his clients.

I wish there was a way to give 0 stars on Unilocal.First things first, the secretary and the assistant are friendly so nothing to complaint about there.
As for the vet himself, it was the absolute worst experience that we have ever had. Our guy is not very comfortable at the vet office and that was one of the reasons we wanted to switch here. When we came in for a check up and shoots, he got a little reactive after some of the checks done by the technician. As soon as we met the vet, the first thing we received was a lecture on how our dog is aggressive, will cause lawsuits and how we should learn to dominate and, if it comes to it, force our dog into submission. We then received a «demonstration» from the vet in how to do that by yelling commands aggressively at the dog and then trying to control him by grabbing his neck. At the end of the visit my wife was in tears.
If you are considering this vet please don’t. If you ever apply positive reinforcement with your dog, you will receive a lecture on how this is for puppies only and that you need to be the alpha for a grown dog. Worst experience of all time.

After posting my first review, Dr. Saram called to apologize to my wife and I for the way that he treated us during our appointment. He explained that a friend had recently passed away and he was not himself and therefore refunded us for our visit. Thank you for the apology and refund.

I have just moved to the city and needed a new vet for my 2 year old Yellow Lab.
College Street Animal Hospital was around the corner so out of convenience (and good reviews) I gave them a try.
Honestly, the best vet I have ever taken a pet to thus far. The Staff is so friendly, the vet himself, genuinely cares about the animals. He takes the time to answer questions and even makes you think of things you would have never thought to ask.
Great experience.

Dr. Saram is amazing. Always extremly knowledgable and patient with me and my many questions. He will always take the extra time to explain something to you — which is great. He has treated both my hedgehog and boxer dog and I have never had any concerns at any point. He is farther away than other vets are to me but I wouldnt dream of taking my pets any where else.

The staff are very caring about all their patients. Its a great place to get cat food, and they have a frequent buyer program.
The groomer does a great job of my cat, he comes home looking like he just stepped out of the salon.

Everyone here is so very nice, and they love my dogs. They take care of them as if they were their own — and my dogs have spent a lot of time in their kennel. Highly recommend.

Dr. Saram is honest and he cares… a lot about me and my «baby dog». I feel very fortunate to have found this place.

We’ve used the College Street Animal Hospital for everything from vaccinations to neutering to check ups to grooming and even some sadder times in our cat-​owning lifetime. Dr Saram and his staff are all really great at what they do with helping people and their pets, through the good and bad times.
Also, their resident cat Goldmund is pretty cool and is usually chillin’ up front while you check in. Last thing worth mentioning is that their hours are decent too, open til around 7pm each week night and for most of the day on Saturday.
I’d fully recommend the College Street Animal Hospital to any pet owner in the area.

Dr. Saram and his staff have by far given my pets the best care and service I’ve ever received from any veterinarians. They are friendly and honest about any questions/​concerns you may have. There pricing is moderate and are always up front about what is urgent/​necessary. Which is great since not all animal lovers are rich.
