I ordered a baby shower themed cake for my best friend here, after having read all the amazing reviews — and I was not disappointed. My initial idea for a cake was a touch on the pricey side, but Esther worked with me to give me a cake within a budget that was still both delicious, and beautiful. To offset the fact that I had to get a slightly smaller cake, I also ordered cupcakes, which were also a hit. She offered a selection of flavours, all of which were AMAZING.

So so good! Honestly best cupcakes I’ve had in a while and very reasonable prices! I was very impressed.

We got a recommendation from a friend for this place. Simply loved the red velvet cupcake here, so we ordered our wedding cake in the same flavour. Tried the same flavour at many other wedding cake shops, but liked this one best. The cake was delicious (I can’t wait for my first anniversary to eat the top layer), and looked so beautiful. They got our design exactly right. As a nice gesture, Esther (who owns the shop) even gave me 6 cupcakes free when I went to drop off my cake topper! Good place all around.

Just an update on my favourite Flour Studio. Since my first review, I have ordered cakes. if you get a basic designed (i.e. no elaborate theme), it is VERY reasonable! (I’m not kidding, you could pay more for a special order at a grocery store bakery counter.) I’ve done a bit of a theme and it was still reasonable! Plus, guests are pleased with the cakes’ taste/​quality and are usually delighted with the look. The more elaborate/​fancy work they do is fantastic (see samples all the time at the shop).
Still the BEST cupcakes ever! Still highly recommend their flower arrangements.
I have recommended them to friends where it’s too far/​out of the way for them to go to, but the shop delivers so you can still ‘have your cake and eat it too.’

I went here finally today after months of hearing and reading about them. The service was really good and they were steadily busy with customers while I was there. I really really wanted to like them a lot but find the cupcakes just ok. The issue isn’t the cake part. That’s actually pretty good. The issue for me is the icing. Flour does an American style basic icing sugar, butter and milk frosting that I find too sweet, grainy and thick. I prefer a Swiss or Italian meringue or like at Bakes and Goods where she heats the milk before adding sugar, ensuring a smoother consistency in the icing. When I mentioned the Swiss meringue style or heating milk, the salesgirl remarked «what a lot of work.» lol! I’m sure she meant it as a compliment to the other bakers who do all the extra work but it almost sounded like they weren’t willing to do «work» at Flour.
The place is busy and has a fan base and I’m sure they will continue to do well. My 3 year old and 5 year old didn’t mind the icing but my husband and I didn’t care for it as much. I have had this issue at most cupcake places in town. The cake is good so why not match it with a great buttercream?
Perhaps once I try more flavors I will convert to being a Flourstudio fan. Til then, it’s Wedding Cake Shop, Half Baked Ideas and Bobbette and Belle for us.

I ordered cupcakes for my wedding from this location. All the guests loved these cupcakes (chocolate, mint, peanut butter, and pumpkin spice were big hits). The icing was delicious and the cake portion nice and moist. Cannot thank the owners enough for making the process easy; I ordered the flavours I wanted and then my rented stand and set up were provided at my venue with no hassle or worry. The display was elegant and simple. I will return to this shop for all my cupcake needs (whether a personal serving or for a party!).
