Specialties

We are the ONLY Japanese Ganbanyoku (Japanese for «Rock Bathing») spa in Canada. Very tranquil.

Services (Reservations required):

«ROCK Bathing»: relax on our Japanese imported Black Silica stone beds. They naturally release far infrared rays and negative ions which are very healthy for you (increases your metabolism, reduces stress, relieves aches and pains, great detox, and much more). The stone beds are heated underneath by water to 42 degrees Celsius in a 63% humidity infused treatment room. Come in for a session and «warm up».

«HOT Yoga /Pilates»: our classes are unique since they are held on our heated infrared stone beds.

«SPA Treatments»: RMT, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage; available for one person or a couple

«Physiotherapy»: we provide FREE 30 minute assessments (Wed 3−7pm); a therapy session includes heat therapy with guided stretching /exercising, Ultrasound and TENS.

History

Established in 2008.

Iyashi (means «Cure» in Japanese) is a Canadian owned company that opened Aug 30, 2008. One of Iyashi’s partners is Japanese and he was visiting Japan in 2007 when he noticed Ganbanyoku (Rock Bathing) spas on every corner. He tried a Rock Bathing treatment because his knee was sore and after only one time, his knee felt so much better. When he came back to Toronto, he talked to his best friend and they decided to open the first Ganbanyoku spa in North America, using Black Silica stones imported from Japan. It was very challenging because there was no one to consult here in Canada on materials required to complete the development of the spa. After checking with the Japanese manufacturer of the black silica stones, and much research, we were able to determine what was required. It took 9 months to complete.

When we first opened, we did Rock Bathing only. We added Hot Yin Yoga classes within the year and most recently added RMT massages to our spa menu.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

We opened Iyashi in Aug 2008. It took us 9 months to build since we were the first to open this type of Japanese Rock Bathing spa in North America. Iyashi’s Vice President, Ryusuke, was in Japan in 2007 for a Martial Arts tournament and tried one of these spas after injuring his knee. He was amazed how wonderful his knee felt after one treatment. Ryusuke told his best friend Gary, and my husband, about his miraculous experience. After extensive research we decided to import the Black Silica slabs, from Japan, and started the building process. We knew the far infrared rays and negative ions released naturally from the stone slabs would provide a healthy option for people suffering from aches and pains. I was also sold on the fact it helps speed up your metabolism, and therefore aids in weight management. ‘Iyashi’ which means «cure» in Japanese was born. We are Flintstone fans, so included ‘Bedrock’ in the name to let people know we are a ROCK spa.
