I’m on a kick right now where I’m trying to make a point of circling back on those special, deserving reviews I should have written years ago, and just never got around to. I have to start with June! June is the best. We go wayyyy back, years. And June has always been there — for my hair. She’s just the best. She just cuts, no colour, in her own awesome space, great music, no distractions. Her cuts are magic. I swear to you, with June taking care of me, I really did WAKE UP LIKE THIS. Her cuts are precise, deliberate, like sculpture — and yet they manage to look perfectly effortless. I wake up and shake my head and I get compliments galore. I have referred soooo many friends to June and they all rave about her.
Before I found June, I tried lots of other Toronto salons: John Steinberg & Assoc, Chanel Croker at Day& Night, Leesa Berry, Navigate Space, Parlour, Fringe, Grateful Head, to name just a few — none of these comes even close to June’s work.
June’s goal is to make you look good, to make that easy for you. She wants the cut to grow out perfectly, to really last you and just fall perfectly as it grows. She wants you to come back only when you need, NEED, a cut, when the weather dictates it or a change of style — never just because it’s grown out. She will never tell you to get a cut every 8 weeks, and she will always trim your bangs for free to keep you from hacking at them yourself. If you do occasionally hack at your hair yourself (I am guilty as charged), she will not shame you, she will guide you back into the light and fix it and make everything better again. She will never give you a cut that requires 50 products or tools or hours of time to style at home, she is the queen of wash and wear, low maintenance perfection. In fact, you will need to remind her to sell you shampoo, we joke about how poor a product salesperson she’d make — the cuts are that good. She will give you samples to try, even make you a sample of something on the spot! And she is a visionary — you don’t need to know exactly that you want here, June will help you figure out what would work best for you and your hair.
She cuts women and men, and she’s got a special way with kids! She calls them «Little VIPs» and offers them juice boxes. It’s the cutest. So moms like me — feel free to book and confirm your appt right now online, and take kiddo with you to the appt — they can make an appt to get a cut too, or chill with a movie and a juice happy as can be while you restore some order to your life via your hair.
June has a philosophy and a point of view, she is an artist and she’s fun to talk to. I see that recently she was named «Best Salon in Toronto» by NOW magazine — quite the honor for a non-​salon with a single stylist and a single chair. This after YEARS of shout-​outs from FASHION, Flare, Toronto Life, you name it.
June, you deserve so much success, and so much happiness. There is no one else that I would trust with my head. Thank you soooo much for what you do and please don’t ever change.

A visit with June is completely different than any other hair experience you’ll have had. She’s not just cutting your hair, she’s cutting it to suit the season and your features. You’ll come away from an appointment with June knowing far more about your hair than you’ve ever in the past. The frequency of cuts in a year will drop because of the amazing quality of her cuts. They grow out beautifully and you’ll love every step of the grow out.
Side bar: my boyfriend was with me on my first visit and after observing her process, promptly booked his own appointment. We’re both June fans.
She is an advocate of Kevin Murphy products and will educate on which ones work best in your hair. You’ll leave with samples to try at home and you will love them. They go a long way and my household has now switched over to all Kevin Murphy products because of her willingness to let you try before you buy.(btw-the dry shampoo is INCREDIBLE as is the Young Again).

June was superb! I had found her online and visited her website, and was counting down the days until my appointment to get about a foot of hair cut off. June was all about hair education as soon as I sat in the chair: what looks good with certain features, how to take care of my hair (stop washing it every day, eek!), what products to use and how to style it. Meanwhile, she was giving a me a fantastic haircut that suited my no maintenance needs and my general ineptitude when it came to doing something fancy with it every day. She also gave me some great samples to try that will work with my hair type. I will definitely be back, thanks June!

First off, I love what June’s down with her space and how she brands herself. The overall experience made me feel like I was in her super cool apartment which I personally liked.
June was a wealth of hair knowledge which she catered to my hair needs. I appreciated it and lapped it all up. In addition to this, she made sure I left with about 10 samples of quality products she used in my hair or would recommend that I use depending on what I was doing with it. I’ve never been to a salon that does that and it obviously left a very good impression on me.
Lastly and most importantly, was the cut… and that was fantastic too. It’s been a few weeks now and it’s growing out beautifully.
June consistently gets 5 stars for a reason. She’s a talented and passionate hairdresser.

June was recommend to me by a friend and I was truly impressed. She managed to see me at the very last minute, despite having had a very busy day.
June’s background in graphic design informs her unique approach to hair design. She looks at your face shape and hair type and makes recommendations based on what she knows will complement your particular features. She gave me a lengthy and useful tutorial on hair, including how and when to wash it, which products to use and not use, and how seasons impact hair styles. Brilliant! She ever has a You Tube channel on which she posts videos about daily up-do’s.
June is the sole owner of her business and she clearly works very hard. She is also passionate about hair. Her salon is beautifully styled and she carries high quality, natural products (including Kevin Murphy and Caviar). She sent me home with an array of samples and I have since come back to purchase various items.
If you’re interested in learning about your hair and about how to best maintain it (in addition to getting it cut), June is your woman!

June is amazing. My hair is currently four days dirty. I’ve been to yoga, sweated my guts out, been though a rainstorm and a windstorm, and my hair still looks terrific. This cut is brilliant.
That’s how you know a genius stylist!
Actually, I think June might be psychic too. When I came in, I was going to show her a picture of my all-​time favorite haircut — an amazing cut I got years ago by accident and have been trying to get again — and ask her to replicate it. I ended up not even mentioning it to her because I was so impressed by her analysis of my face and features, and the time she took to assess what kind of shapes would be best for my face.
And you know, my dream cut is the cut I got. Except better, because apparently this cut is bomb-​proof.
So not only is June a genius, she’s also a really interesting person, an obsessive perfectionist (that’s what you want in a stylist!), and she’s also incredibly generous with her time and with her product samples.
I’m most definitely coming back. June has a new loyal customer in me.

I have been going to June for nearly 10 years. Aside from her being the best hairstylist in Toronto, the experience of a June cut is unmatched. Part spa, part therapy, great products and always a great cut. Couldn’t recommend her more.

I have heard June praised for all her skills by friends for years now, and some circumstance or other prevented me. Well. It is a huge thrill when a sky high reputation is matched by an incredible experience.
My hour with June matched the positive descriptions of other reviewers (dozens more on her website) and I also thought she was truly kind and generous.
I have fine, full hair that really does need expert cutting, and June delivered. I got a shaggy, layered razor cut that is PERFECT: multidimensional, punk it up or corp it down, my hair looks healthy and 3 times fuller, and both the shape and detail work are top notch.
I also received lots of lessons about caring for and styling my hair. Do you like to hear the sound of your own voice, like me? Pro tip: make the choice to shut up, except maybe for questions, and soak in the fountain of June knowledge instead.
Recently I got a perm and terrible haircut elsewhere, and years of ok to horrid hair cuts at other salons, and the strongest thing I can say in review is that I am so immensely relieved to finally get a haircut from June.

Finally! A hairdresser who actually listens to you and offers honest and intelligent feedback on what haircut would suit your face and the hair problems you have.
There are a few things that set June apart from all the rest:
1. She appreciates what it means to be a woman with thinning hair and the steps that you can take to deal with it (i.e. no mumbo jumbo about what supplements to eat/​drink but common sense advice on how to treat/​care for your hair)
2. She outlines a few options on haircuts that compliment your features and which take into consideration the current health of your hair.
3. She doesn’t shamelessly flog products from her salon but actually gives you free samples to try.
4. She’s down to earth and easy to speak with. She really does listen to your concerns and gives a damn fine haircut to boot.
I am so pleased to finally have found a stylist who gets it and doesn’t do the hard sell. Thank you, June!

Faithfully, I returned to June at the end of the summer to finally get all my hair cut off. I’ve been hankering to cut my hair boy-​short for months now, but I refrained due to my summer job at a conservative-​ish place.
Upon liberation from the shackles of employment, I promptly booked an appointment with my hair magician and counted down the minutes until I would have, as she calls it, «phantom hair».
Like I’ve said previously, June knows what the heck she’s doing. So usually I just come in with some half-​formed barely coherent ideas on what I want, and just let her go with it. True artists should not have their styles cramped.
We had some awesome conversation while she snipped and buzzed, and I left an hour later with the haircut I’d been dreaming about for six months. I really am running out of positive adjectives to use on this woman. She deserves them all.
So until I fully master the English language (as if that’s ever going to happen), I will stick with a simple: Thank you again, June!

Been a regular client of June’s for years, even though it likely doesn’t make sense to anyone I know why I still pay a hairdresser at all anymore, when I have a fraction of my hair left. I keep going back because however crappy I feel about the state of my scalp, or how old it makes me feel, I can trust that June will make it look a hundred times better. And I’ll feel a hundred times better. She takes the time to carve cool designs in the short cut that I get, which is always entertaining for my coworkers who wouldn’t dare do it themselves. I’m always amazed at how she can shorten part and make the rest seem thicker, reducing that awful contrast between my dark hair and white scalp. She manages to blend it all together so it doesn’t look like I’m trying to trick everyone with a comb over.
Recently, June started carrying a product line because of how I and a couple of her other male clients were in the dumps over our thinning hair. It’s nice she tried to understand the frustration and spent time researching which products could help.
It’s not very often that I come across a professional who really cares and puts a lot of effort into all the little details. I’ve never heard of anyone else arriving to work early to cut up fresh cucumber, so clients can have more than a plain glass of water. If it was my business, I’d never bother having all that tea (I’d tell people to go to Starbucks across the street) or a stash of kids movies and portable DVD player to keep the little ones occupied. Most businesses wouldn’t notice if their clientele was too warm or too cold, much less care. June got an electric fireplace and installed air-​conditioning.
And you can book online! I never remember during the day ’cause work gets busy, but you can bet I’ll think about it at 11pm and be happy I can actually book it then. This makes a huge difference and I wish everyone offered this, but they don’t because they don’t care as much as June.

I’ve been going to June for a couple years now, and she’s great. Of course, as a guy I have next to no idea what looks good when it comes to hair, but women seem to like what she does to my head and that’s the important thing. And each haircut comes with a free glass of complimentary cucumber water and some sort of lavender heated facecloth-​thing when she washes your hair, so that’s pretty great too.
