Pet Valu

The bunny area is very small, so I feel it’s a bit species-​ist, however all pet stores are, so it’s not their fault.
That said, the sales person was very helpful and told me a lot about bunnies (I’m a new mom).

Went in to buy some items for picking up my puppy next week, and had a good chat with the store manager comparing products.
The store is quite small but the selection of products is not limited — you just have to look up and check the very top shelves.

All Pet Valu locations have really started to upgrade in the last couple of years. This location is fairly well stocked and they have a vast selection of items. I find their prices to be expensive, but moderate/​cheaper for downtown compared to typical boutique outlets. They’ve started carrying some really nice, high end products.
I don’t find the staff to be particularly friendly. I prefer shopping elsewhere but if I’m in a jam I will returning, sparingly.

Staff are nice and always give my dog a treat or two.
I spend hundreds of dollars here getting dog food so it would be nice to get a loyalty discount! Still not bad prices and good selection. I like it!

Pet Valu is my go-​to pet store thanks to it’s super convenient location and super friendly staff!
It’s been recently renovated, which makes it a lot more open and attractive. They have a great selection of foods for all pets — I used to shop there when I had rats (which I always called ‘long-​tailed hamsters’ if the thought of a rat weirds you out) and now that I have my lovely kitty Sawyer, I’m there for his food and litter.
The prices are not necessarily competitive, but they are comparable — don’t expect you’re going to save a ton of cash here, but if you’re looking for good, quality pet food and supplies, you’ll definitely be able to get what you want.
They also have a large selection of brands, which I really appreciate — it means that I can get exactly what I want for my pets!
While they don’t have actual animals for sale at Pet Valu — which is a good thing — they do always have kitties from Toronto Cat Rescue up for adoption — so you can go and visit them while you shop!
If you live in the area, Pet Valu is definitely a convenient shop for all your pet needs!

Staff is always friendly and helpful. It is however a smaller size shop. Stocks may run out so call ahead to make sure they carry what you are looking for before making a trip out there…

Staff is nice. When you search the web about this store — the hours they are open are wrong. The store is fairly average — but the really good thing is they finally got rid of the slimy guy who used to run the store who said he was a veterinarian (from another country) — and this guy used to PUSH a particular brand of garbage pet food — at much overpriced prices — and I’m sure he did so because he made MUCH more money on that brand of food.

This Pet Valu is comparable to other Pet Valus I’ve visited. Narrow aisles, utilitarian shelving, decent service, good pet food.
As a pet food store, of course I judge based on the brands that they carry, and their selection is good. Wellness, Natural Balance, Go and Now, Nature’s Variety, Holistic Select, etc.
The do not carry Acana, Orijen, or Best Feline Friend.
Most of my visits are not high-​needs, but the odd occasion when I ask them, they seem knowledgeable and happy to answer your questions. They honour all the manufacturer coupons that I’ve surrendered.
The location is pretty good, near Kensington, so you can grab things while you’re doing your groceries. There’s parking for a few vehicles, so if you need to buy big bags of food, you’re good to go.
I think, though that I’ll be choosing another location in the near future (not in the Pet Valu franchise), because the prices are high. To me, shopping for pet food is mostly a routine event; no need to pay extra for the same product.
