I’m gonna give an honest review here, I love this place. The first meal I had here was the steak and it was amazing. The atmosphere is excellent, very relaxing. I came back to try the bistro burger and to be honest was very disappointed. the presentation was great, however the burger itself was tough as if the meat had been way over handled, the cook on the meat was good but a tad overcooked in my opinion. It was also served almost cold, i don’t like my food steaming hot but this was barely warm. The bun which was beautiful by the way, was a tad stale as the bottom quickly broke apart as I was eating it. The Jacked Poutine was amazing. I will be back as there are many other items on the menu i want to try. But overall my burger experience was very disappointing. :(

I’ve been here once before a couple of years back. It’s one of those places on my frequent trips from Toronto to Montréal where you have to stop somewhere and there is not much choice. I have to admit I hadn’t been impressed before, but when you’re hungry and on the road, you’re choices are limited. So I was pleasantly surprised last week when I revisited. It’s clear that it’s under new management. The menu was«fun» and inventive and service was fast and efficient. This is no longer on my list of «stop-over» fare — I’d definitely make this a destination now and take my friends! Loving the deck!

Returned to The Port last Friday after not being there for sometime and we were disappointed in the service. Our friends arrived before we did and were not offered water or drinks while they waited. They were sat down and ignored. Once we arrived it still took too long for the server, who was friendly, to get to us. When she did arrive she sold us a pitcher of a beer they didn’t have which isn’t the end of the world but waiting 10 minutes to inform us, and not returning with the beer for the others, was. Waiting another 10 minutes to actually get us drinks was inexcusable although I feel the bartender must not have been helping matters. The servers seemed pre-occupied with guest on the patio while those inside were walked by often. Our server didn’t offer water at the outset of our arrival which is usually standard and she prompted twice to bring it which is also inexcusible. The kitchen obviously was moving quicker than the incompetent bar staff because our mains arrived quickly and were, as always, very good. Overall this experience took a lot of the charm out of The Port and we were disappointed as it was our friends first time there. Will will return? Probably as it is still better than anything Belleville has to offer and eventually you get a bad experience if you go somewhere enough. However, I hope the management reads this particular review. Poor service ruins the experience no matter how good the food. Step it up!

Everything at this restaurant is made from scratch! Whenever I visit Trenton to visit my family, I try to get them to bring me here. I tried their pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, charcuterie board, adult root beer float and many other things off their menu that I can’t recall. The pulled pork sandwich was not the best I’ve ever had but it was still good. However, the mac and cheese was the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant so I highly recommend it. It’s very cheesy! I can never go wrong with a charcuterie board. The adult root beer float was amazing. I will defniitely get that again the next time I visit The Port.

Having only heard jokes about Trenton’s restaurants and culture, I was not at all expecting what I got at The Port. I’m not sure if the stuff I heard about Trenton is true or not, but even by Toronto standards this is a solid restaurant. The décor of the restaurant is modern chic, kind of like a Moxies or Milestones but with a more intimate feel. The inside is very dimly lit but they have a beautiful patio in the back that is nicely landscaped with a view of the water. The menu consists of a number of dishes that are mostly twists on classic bistro/comfort foods, like fancy mac and cheese, burgers, and sandwiches. It seems like the ingredients they use are fresh and local where they can be. The drinks menu was large and varied with really cool sounding beers on tap. They have some seriously delicious sounding desserts, but I was so full after dinner that I couldn’t find any room for dessert. Sunday’s drink special was a $ 5 caesar, which is more than reasonably priced(and was delicious), and the entrees were priced around $ 12-$ 18.
