There just isn’t a better sandwich for those on the go in downtown Vancouver. Tastes like you made it at home and priced like you did too. Those tasty Lays potato chips are a nice little addition to the plate as well. I used to come on the reg when I worked nearby and now I make the extra effort whenever I have that hankering for a perfect sandwich. There, I said it.

Really enjoyed my home made sandwich here yesterday. Had the smoked turkey and comes with a side o’ crisps. Friendly service and really good bread — ’nuff said.

I used to work here, so forgive me if my review is biased. The sandwiches here are easily #1 for fast, fresh, and tasty. No matter what combination you choose it’s guaranteed to be delicious. The coffee great, and locally roasted so you’re helping the community grow by buying a cup. The space is for the lost part clean, although the building is aging and some upgrades are definitely due. Joes a great guy and keeps his crazy staff in check, for the most part. All of the employees working there have very unique personalities and it’s totally worth getting to know them if you’re a regular. As for service, this is a «no extras, no bullshit» kind of attitude, so you get what you pay for and anything extra comes at a charge. With food ready within minutes of ordering that’s fresh and healthy, it’s totally worth it. My favourites while working there were the tuna or Turkey on cheese, as well as the turkey mini panini.

I’ve recently discovered this place and swear it must be one of the best value places for excellent sandwiches. Service is fast and friendly and the food healthy, tasty and definitely value-for-money. Highly recommend!

I came here today for lunch after a few years of not coming in. It is a mad house at lunch time and the Tuna Salad sandwich was good. As was the brownie & coconut bar(shared with friend). The down side is that the customer service is lacking but that could just be because it’s crazy and they just need to get everyone through as soon as possible and it’s a bit on the expensive side. I have no idea what their coffee tastes like as I haven’t tried it. I usually don’t drink any after noon.

Amazingly fresh sandwiches made to order. I always order the tuna on whole wheat. Really delicious served with a side of chips!

I love the staff here! They are fun and work their asses off. The sandwiches are very popular, but I pretty much just get coffee. They serve Canterbury, which leaves a bit to be desired, it would be so great if they could switch it up to a nicer roast. The espresso can be hit and miss, sometimes the newer staff just don’t have the aptitude to pull a decent shot. Still I would choose to frequent this small business over the encroaching Starbucks any day.

I am taking part in the 30 day Unilocal challenge, so this is my first post — yes I know I am late starting. I stopped in this café on my way back to the office to grab a quick, and hopefully cheap lunch. The man who took my order was very friendly, I ordered the daily soup — which met my expectations, but the cheese bread was amazing. It had rosemary and other spices baked into the bread. It was my highlight of the lunch as the soup was just ok. The price was great too, It’s great to get a lunch under $ 4.25!

If I were to rate the latte here, I give it 2 stars(for my taste). The latte was far too bitter for my liking, not enough foam, and was scalding hot. BUT the people were very friendly, and it looked like a nice place to sit down. But I was in a rush, no time etc etc, so maybe will have to come back at some point and give this place another try, as even my fave joints can have off days…

A quick and convenient stop for a snack or lunch. The staff are friendly and upbeat, while the sandwiches are finger lickin’ good. I love their tuna and capers sandwiches. They are the best tuna sandwiches I have ever eaten and the bread is always fresh. If they run out for the day, they don’t sell any more sandwiches. The variety of bread they have are always soft and moist. I love the marble rye or cheesebread.

I’m not a coffee, or most any other hot beverage, drinker, so I don’t go in here for the usual reasons. I work very close and my employer often uses them for catering. I tend to drop in when I want to grab a sandwich for lunch in the office. They have some tasty offerings for made-on-demand sandwiches, premade sandwiches, pasta salads, and baked goods. My favourite is their turkey on cheese bread. The sandwiches are usually made with leaf lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mayo, grainy mustard, edam cheese, and black pepper. They’re so damned tasty, I could spend a couple of hours here eating several sandwiches if they served beer to wash them down. If you come in after 1pm, they’re usually out of cheese bread, and they’re usually out of bread entirely if you’re trying to get a late lunch after 2pm. Since they cater primarily to those that work downtown, they tend to be closing up around 5pm.

Joe has a good thing going, like many others, I order the sandwiches and the pasta salads for lunch and meetings. I appreciate the staff being efficient and friendly and always willing to accept IOUs for regular guests if you come up a few cents short one morning for coffee. Very reasonable prices given the locale, its nice and always faster to get your caffeine fix than the Starbucks across the street. I did learn from a colleague that they have may some weird policy about not accepting more than 10 pennies as legal tender as a cash purchase, but don’t let that deter you from experiencing an honest sandwich, pastry, and decent no-frills brew. My favourite is the mini-roast beef bun. The varied background music and large TV screens(muted) sometimes with news, World Cup soccer, or even the fireplace channel adds to the casual atmosphere with a bit of edge. The Law has got his caffeine fix… and always returns…

Great café, I love coming here for their tasty, tasty sandwhiches on my lunch hour. The staff is quick, friendly and good at what they do. The prices are alright, could be cheaper, but it’s downtown so of course it’s more expensive than the ‘burbs. They also have awesome muffins. Go here if you’re wondering where to eat for lunch one day.

Needing an afternoon caffeine fix yesterday after work while heading home, I looked up and saw this café. I thought the service was really nice and my black house coffee was delicious once it cooled. The place was pretty quiet but I knew when I left I’d likely be coming back again.

You’d be hard-pressed to find any regulars who know this place by anything other than«Joe’s» thanks to a very friendly proprietor. The staff here are top-notch, consistent, friendly, and do an all-around fantastic job of serving great breakfast and lunch food. The lunch sandwich deal is better than mamma’s packed lunch. Choose from cheese, multi-grain or rye bread, add a salad’s worth of fresh veggies, then top it with deli meats or cheese. Oh, and then you get salted chips on the side. The coffee here is also the city’s best-priced brew and the cranberry orange muffins are homemade, moist, and crave-worthy. It’s the kind of place I get hungry when I just think about it, and healthy enough for a daily helping.
