I got a Gel fill done here. 3 of my cuticles were burned and stung for a few days. My pinky finger was cut and I still have a scab there two weeks later. It was cheap — but I had to leave a tip on the key pad and I regretted it the whole way home.

I love this place!!! My first time there and I will definitely go back. Had my hair cut and colored as well as mani, pedi and arm wax. I have been going to expensive spa for 8 years and I am going to switch to A Plus Nails. It is clean and well run and they use good products.(Davines, Moroccan oil). Great recommendation from a friend. She was right, hair and nails look awesome.

i walked in wanting an bikini wax, They asked me to come back twenty minutes later at 3 pm. I arrived at 3 pm and waited until 3:15 when they brought me to a backroom. The woman started waxing me and took off way more than i had asked her. i looked down to realize that she was giving me a brazilian instead of neatening my bikini line and between my legs. This was the worst wax of my life. The woman did not know the tricks to make it hurt less. when she pronounced her work done. i looked to see many hairs still visible in my neither region, the side of my leg was still covered in hair for example. i asked her to finish properly. after a bit i realized that she was unable to get rid of the stray hairs. she did not have anything to removed the sticky feel nor relive swelling. after paying 39 $ i left with patchy bits, missing more hair that i wanted(i asked for a neatening, got a brazilian) sore and sticky. this was the worst wax of my life. Never have i been in more pain. She did not know any tricks, used the same piece of muslim over and over, did not pull my skin taunt before waxing. she waxed over my clitoris and vagina. VERYUNCOMFORTABLE. I still have plenty of hair on me and am planning on going somewhere else tomorrow to clean up her mess.

I went in to A Plus Nails to get a quick mani /pedi right before having my baby. Basically, I needed to have my cuticles cleaned up on my hands, and I wanted a pedicure that would last for a while as who knows when I’ll be able to have a pedi again. Usually I go to Pure, but I wanted to spend a bit less and I didn’t feel like walking to Main. Whenever I get to go again, though, I’ll either try the new Venus nail salon on Cambie or will just head back to Pure. A couple of issues with A Plus: 1) They advertise 10% off mani /pedis on Tuesday and Sunday, and their awning says normal price for a mani /pedi is $ 45. I waited until Tuesday to go in(hey, I’m on mat leave benefits these days, so I have to pay attention to cost), and they charged me $ 44 for my mani /pedi. You don’t have to be great at math to figure out that’s not 10% off $ 45.(And I didn’t even get polish on my hands.) 2) I wasn’t overly impressed with their cleanliness. I’m not sure when that chair /basin were last cleaned, but they weren’t cleaned before I got in or after I got out, at least while I was in the place. And they didn’t even bother to test the water they put in the basin, so they shoved my feet into cold water to start. 3) I needed my cuticles cleaned up. I didn’t need them clipped so far back that they bled — the cuticle on almost every finger was bleeding when I left. 4) To add insult to injury(literally), I had to endure a number of derogatory comments and sighs about my size and my unborn daughter’s gender. A sample: «Oh, you’re so big, you must be having twins.» No, I was 40 weeks pregnant with one girl, as I’d just told them. At full term, even the Asian women I know are carrying a pretty significant beach ball in the front, even with just one child; same holds true for us Northern Europeans. If you think we look bigger than you do, maybe you should keep it to yourself in the name of customer service. «Are you having a boy or a girl?» A girl. «Oh, well, you’ll try again for a boy.» No, in fact, I won’t. Some people want girls.(And, P. S., without girls a nail bar wouldn’t have much of a clientele.) Pure Nail Bar would have been $ 5 more for a mani /pedi, without the bleeding or insults. It’s worth the extra $ 5.
