As a single table in an empty restaurant don’t expect to see a refill on your tea or water glass. In fact yesterday and today being the determinate it seems pretty likely that servers would rather not come to your table at all — which in itself is odd. Yesterday I had a average quality-pretty filling bento box(see photo) and today I tried their no flavored single Vietnamese small spring roll, sad prawn, ok salad roll and a whack load of vermicelli combo(see photo). In fact today when I say down I requested a Vietnamese iced coffee(normally it’s pretty fantastic elsewhere). It arrived 15 minutes after the single dish of food did(note it took 20 minutes for them to make the food) — I sent it back saying there was no reason it should’ve taken that long. Finally apologetic she brought around the water jug but it was too late. I just finished the food, paid and left. Ugh.

They do Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine here. Both not done very well. I’m Very disappointed. They are overpriced and the food quality is not good. We ordered sashimi, and nigiri, tempura, spring rolls, and a vermicelli dish. The fish was not fresh, the grilled beef in our vermicelli dish was overcooked and chewy. The spring rolls and tempura were soggy. Everything was SALTY. I would never go again.

Large Patio. This is my go-to for sushi lunch on a nice day. Consistent quality, very fast service, and good location. Not high end sushi, but excellent value. Ooh, did I mention it’s sushi with a patio?

I hate to write bad reviews, but unfortunately this place is so bad that it felt necessary to warn people — having come here a few times with it always being empty, and never finding the food great(but seeing it as acceptable because it is in a really lovely garden location) I came here one day and finally realised why no one goes here anymore! Ordering regular sushi, I found both an avocado pit AND some kind of rotten green leaves in two of my rolls. I’m usually not a picky person when it comes to sushi, but this was weird. When I told the server, she swiped the dish away without an apology, returning to say they would take $ 1.25 off my order. That’s it! Given the rolls were over $ 10, the experience definitely left a very bad taste in my mouth :(

I went here with my wife two nights ago and we thought it was really good. The service was pleasant and the good was everything you would expect from a restaurant serving Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and possibly more Asian nationalities of food. I ordered the donburiya. I thought it was quite tasty and not too oily, which I find in some other places. My wife had a bento box with teriyaki beef, prawn and yam tempura and an avocado roll with crab. It was quite a lot of food and she said she enjoyed it. We will definitely go back. They also have 10% off your food(dine in only) after 4pm. Not too sure of that’s just on weekdays. If you’re in the neighbourhood check it out.

Was ok. The seaweed in the sushi was hard to chew. But the meal was not terrible. Had a bento box for take out.

I work close by, and I only come here if I have a major, major craving for sushi and I’m really pressed for time(can’t go to the other Japanese restaurants in the area). Their sushi has way too much rice on it and is of low quality. If you don’t have to go here, better not come because a crappy lunch leads to a crappy day.

This place has pretty good sushi. I ordered the fire rolls(delicious with a bit of a kick) and asked for some chicken rolls(very tasty). The problem, as the other reviewers said, is the service. They are not efficient. They didn’t come while I was eating to see how I was going, if I liked it, etc. Overall I had a nice time but it would have been better if the service was top notch. Otherwise definitely come here if you want some yummy sushi.(They do take out if you don’t want to deal with the service.)

Ummm, do yourself a favour and don’t come here. Tips that should’ve stopped me and my hungry friend: plastic food sample display, Phở & Sushi in one restaurant, cheapo let’s-use-everything-we-can-find décor. But we were hungry. The random vietnamese menu sheets fell out of the main sushi menu. Sushi was mediocre at best, and salmon sashimi tasted fish. Agedashi tofu was overly deep fried and it was swimming in lots of bbq sauce — not my favourite. Anyway, it is getting harder and harder to find a good sushi place in van, cuz everyone and their dog seem to be opening one and the general quality goes down. So stick with what you know, like the Akira sushi downtown and read Unilocal before going out. Mase-mase!

I come here often because I live close by and I have gotten take out many times as well. I think if you are craving sushi and are around the area this place does the job. The sushi is good, nothing spectacular but not bad either. So I am a happy costumer, I think I get exactly what I pay for. I do have to say that I like their«new rolls special». These combinations are different, interesting and tasty. My favorite has to be the«Forest Roll» or «Vancouver Roll». If you are in the neighbourhood and are craving sushi this place is a good option.

I usually go here because it is close to work & it s a good deal for their portions. Their food is pretty good. Their food portions fill you up. The combos and bento boxes I’ve tried are good, the karaage is nothing special. more like just deep fried chicken. I think all the staff their are Vietnamese though, not Japanese… the cooks do a good job. There is one specific little old lady who serves more often at the bistro. I observe how she treats other customers, and of course there’s the part of how she treats me as a customer. She tends to be really rude and give weird faces on old customers and customers who have logical requests. Once I asked for my bill, she barked at me to go to the till and told me 2 tables away the amount I owed instead of just giving me the bill. I had a hard time understanding her even when I asked her to repeat herself twice… she gave me the evilest look for not being able to understand, and stormed annoyed to the till for my bill. The few other servers who serve are nicer, but usually when they know their arent customers to serve they go on the side where customers can still see them and play on their smart phones. When a customer needs their help, they are not aware of it.

I’m usually freaked out by places that have plastic display versions of their meals in the window, but I had a crazy sushi craving after my workout so I settled on dining at Blue Sky. The diverse menu made my ordering decision difficult, however I chose a basic gomaae(steamed spinach and peanut sauce with sesame seeds, served cooled) with an avocado roll. Super basic, satisfying for sure, ingredients tasted fresh. The gomaae was a bit heavy on the sauce, which was a bit of turn off, however every place does it a little differently. The staff were quite unfriendly unfortunately. I’m unsure on whether I would visit again, yet for convenience sake, I probably will.

Normally I’d be a bit worried about places that have dual menus(in this case, Japanese and Vietnamese food), but Blue Sky proved to be decent and of good value. If you arrive after 8pm on a weekday, they have 20% off their entire menu, which is pretty awesome. The food portions are decent, a box set is enough to fill you. Their salmon and tuna are delicious and fresh(though the seaweed was a bit on the chewy side, and their rolls were well portioned with a good amount of rice. Service wasn’t the greatest — my box came without salad dressing on my salad(whereas everyone else’s did), and when I asked for some she gave me a strange look and didn’t acknowledge my request, but did later come back with dressing. Overall, I wouldn’t mind trying this place one more time — there were a lot of different menu items posted on the walls that weren’t in the actual menu book. It’s a nice casual place and they’ve got a good-sized patio for comfy dining options.

Over 2 hours for delivery and didn’t even get a discount. I’ll pass next time. Also their delivery driver«doesn’t speak English and can’t read street signs» according to the guy that answers their phone. Btw his name is Andy and he sucks.

Cute location, good food, cranky staff! Your basic, Vancouver sushi joint, only nicer. Have eaten here several times, and the sushi is always top notch, if not terribly original. Bento boxes are a good value here. Veg tempura done right. Fresh, quality ingredients, average prices. A couple of good Asian bottled beers, in different sizes. Good location, pretty, clean and not cramped, with a nice little patio to boot! Now if the staff could just chill out and smile once in a while, it would be great.
