Blumen

Tried to order large flower arrangements via phone as recommended from a hotel. The lady on the phone sounded impatient and annoyed the entire time. Conversation ended without her even saying goodbye and she hung up. Bad first impression so far.

I’ve been grabbing one-​off bouquets here for the past 7 months for any special occasions or events and the flowers are always beautiful, fresh and the bouquets are very well put together.
They always wow, and never fail to get a wonderful reaction from everyone who sees them.
The price on some bouquets can be a bit expensive, but they always provide a great range of color and price options so its easy to find something that will fit your budget.
Great little florist and will continue to come here for my flower needs!

My first visit last week will be my last. I went to this store with the intention of getting larger flower pots and to buy tropical plants. The staff (I did not get her name), was so cold that I left without making a purchase. I asked the staff a question and it was like I irritated her with my question/​presence? Whatever it was, I don’t care, I will not return. I’m a lover of plants, I always visit new shops hoping to find plants, and there are many flower shops in Vancouver who will be happy to make me feel comfortable to be in their stores.

Great little shop tucked away across the street from the entrance to Winners. So I jaywalked — because the bouquets looked so wonderful.
As it turned out, I purchased a delicate air plant which now perches in my newly reno’d bathroom in a beautiful lavender crystal glass I discovered when cleaning out a cupboard.
I know, long story — but the floral arrangements on the grab and go display only hinted at the artistry happening here. Really good selection of robust blooms inside. Nice whimseys — look up at the ceiling. Friendly staff, parking is a hassle on 8^th Ave, but worth dropping in for a basket of blooms!

Sitting in a coffee shop, therefore, taking the time to clear out some of the drafts that have been sitting in my inbox for 4 months of local reviews in attempt to reduce my list one at a time (I have over 60 drafts).
OMG the minute you walk in you’re greeted with the nice floral smell. It feels like Spring inside while it is winter outside. The lady at the til was helpful on a custom order. Store is spacious and selections in the fridge are nice and healthy.

I don’t even think I would give Blumen a 1 star but I had to choose. I hired Blumen Floral Boutique for my wedding after they were recommended to me by my decorator. My first and second consultation went great! and I was super happy with my choice. With my second consultation I decided to pay the balance owing on the flowers so that whoever picked them up on the day of the wedding didn’t have to worry about paying. I confirmed in an e-​mail to Nghia (owner) about the time that I would have someone pick the flowers up on the wedding day and he responded confirming everything. When the driver picked the flowers up on the wedding day (and was only 7 minutes early) a lady said she was too busy and that my driver would have to come back. So he came back 7 minutes later and the lady gave my driver the flowers. My driver asked if he could confirm that all the flowers were there (he had a list) and the lady said she was too busy. After my driver was persistent and said that he had to confirm finally she did. Some of the flowers were missing. So finally she got all the flowers for us but then said she couldn’t release the flowers because I hadn’t paid. My then fiancé had to contact me (on my wedding day!) to sort out whether I had paid. Finally the lady released the flowers and they were brought to us. When I got the flowers I was less than impressed with the quality (they were wilted and not very nice). Even the coordinator at the venue said the flowers looked like they were ‘thirsty’. It looked like my flowers were put together last minute with whatever they had left in the shop. I e-​mailed Nghia after the event to let him know about my disappointment and I have not heard a response from him. I wouldn’t ever recommend Nghia or Blumen Floral Boutique to anybody. Also, after attending a wedding fair I got a call from Blumen Floral Boutique to set up a consultation. I called back and said that I was already ordering my flowers from them.

Really friendly florist! They have beautiful creations that are obviously unique. You can see the attention to detail and creativity. He was accommodating to my changes too. Would go back for sure, especially since the location is convenient (Cambie/​Olympic village/​city hall). Pricing was pretty fair, just with taxes it was a few dollars over what I expected.

Booked a free consultation with Nghia after we went to the Wedding Fair. I should have known they were not reliable from the start. Nghia cancelled the first appointment because he double-​booked with another wedding event that day. I thought that was strange but rescheduled anyway. No big deal, right? To confirm the appointment, he sent me two emails from his iPhone (poor spelling, barely formed sentences, lower case i’s, etc) except the second one read like he didn’t realize he already emailed me to confirm. It was very strange. At this point, I’m thinking, okay, the guy is disorganized.
Fiancé and I arrive the day of our appointment to a non-​plussed person behind the counter who looked at us blankly when we said we had a consultation. No Nghia. She calls him and says he’ll be there in 5 minutes. No apology or explanation. At this point we go outside to wait for him because she’s playing super loud techno music in the store. No show. We leave super unimpressed. What a letdown! And I never received an email from Nghia to follow up. Terrible customer service. Can you imagine if we had hired them to do our wedding?
I would have forgotten about that disappointing experience except I just received an automated voicemail from them saying since we attended the Wedding Fair, we are eligible for a free consultation. First of all, automated voicemails are cold and poor marketing as they are essentially spam. And second of all, all of the above!

Succulents! and a wonderfully friendly woman who boxed them up for their journey home. :) Will be my first stop for my next plant purchase.

I stopped by to buy flowers for a friend in hospital and received fantastic, helpful service and a gorgeous arrangement! The flowers were really fresh too!

Blumen’s is amazing! I went in last minute to get an anniversary arrangement made and Nghia did stunning work!
I gave him a price range, colors, and variety of flowers I thought my boyfriend would like, and left with a piece of art. I will be coming back and recommend this florist to my friends!

Blumen did the flowers for our wedding and they were awesome! We had outlined our general theme but we let them be creative within our budget. When we walked in to the venue the day of and saw the arrangements we were blown away. Highly recommended!

Blumen is great! Their arrangements are beautiful and last a long time. On top of that they are super nice and friendly. My only regret is that they weren’t here when I was planning my wedding flowers — their wedding arrangements take my breath away.

Blumen Floral Boutique does all of our flowers at our office and they are always AMAZING! Right now, we have a bouqet with watermelon peonies (my new fave) in it and i’m so in love with it… it sits in our Reception area and I can’t stop looking at it! Nghia (one of the owners) is so easy to work with, very flexible, very friendly and gives us such great customer service… in a perfect world. I would have fresh Blumen flowers in my apartment every single day… but at least I get to see them at work. Lucky me!

This is a lovely new addition to the Cambie/​Broadway zone … Blumen offers very reasonably priced and creatively designed flower arrangements, as well as simpler cut flowers. They’ve got a nice eye for design and do some fun and modern things, without breaking the bank. Nice folks and easy to work with as well, with a good sense of humor.
