Probably the only feel-good, down to earth place in Yaletown that isn’t pretentious lol. My go-to place when I want to avoid the loudness at a starbucks or blenz, have a serious business meeting or do some laptop work. Yet it’s always busy w/customers coming in for pickup. Sandwiches made fresh, and also offer catering. It’s in a L-shaped format, and enough action seating at the front for all the eye candy walking by, hey, it’s yaletown. Good service, and accept all cards.

I have been going to this café for a while now, and waited to write a review. Although I generally get the regular café food and coffee, I recently ventured out and tried their Korean food. The food is good, and the service is friendly. There is quite a large variety of food to choose from. The best part is that the service is consistent! Keep up the great work.

I tend to come to CFC when I need something simple, quick, and decently priced in Yaletown. It’s not gourmet but its not hole in the wall either. It’s quite simple which I kinda like being in Yaletown where every restaurant feels the need to be over the top/unique/adding their own twists. For lunch, the soup and sandwich combo is a great deal for under $ 10. This is my usual go-to with the soup choices changing every day. I’m told the noodles are popular but I refuse to pay for instant ramen. Check ‘em out if you’re looking for a lunch spot that doesn’t overcomplicate, overthink, and over-engineer their food like so many others in this neighbourhood.

Chez Faye is A-OK. I can get served a fairly quick and simple lunch here. I normally order to go, although occasionally I’ll grab a seat. The guy who works here is nice and efficient, but sometimes the rest of the staff seem to get a little confused. No big deal. I’ve never waited more than about 5 minutes for my food. Typical deli with lots of options and customization at your request. I usually just get a sandwich or soup, but there’s a pretty diverse menu of foods ranging from ramen to curry to pasta to bibimbap. They also have yogurts, fruit, pastries, and drinks. Note: Not open on weekends! This is my biggest gripe as they serve up a decent breakfast.

Barely 50 feet, or so, from the Starbucks on Mainland at Davie in Yaletown — right across from the Roundhouse Skytrain Station and all I could think of is… it must be hard to compete! Still, this coffee shop has high traffic and makes a good espresso and an even better banana bread. :) The only downside is that it closes just before the dinner hour — which means they take in the bistro tables from the cobblestone. Maybe that’s the shortened hours of operation are how they compete with that other coffee place, eh?

Decent coffee just across from the Roundhouse Station. Friendly service and a comfortable array of seating, inside and out. #30DaysOfYelp _____________________________________ 20⁄30 -(October 2012, 30-day challenge) *Review 383⁄365 personal challenge*

When I worked in Yaletown, I went here for lunch about once a week, and brought my colleagues a couple times. It’s a nice place that’s kind of… out of the way? It’s right near the heart of Yaletown, but when you’re there it feels like you’re watching Yaletown from a TV. The food is pretty good: I usually get a panini and a side(thai noodle salad most frequently). I’ve also got the Udon soup with chicken, but I wouldn’t get it again(too salty and the chicken was a questionable grey).

Chez Faye Café is the go-to spot for people working in Yaletown who are looking for a family-run café that offers a diversity of quick lunch options: soup, sandwiches, hot breakfasts… and Korean food! That’s right; if you’re craving bibimbap or bulgogi(served in a sandwich, if you prefer) this is your spot. Lunch isn’t all that Chez Faye provides. As I mentioned, they’re one of the few cafés that offers a hot breakfast menu, from omelettes, bacon and eggs, to pancakes. What I like about the Chez Faye Café is that it’s simple, quick, and staff genuinely care — that goes a long way. You order your food at the counter and they’ll bring it to your table. Plus, it won’t rob the bank. On average the items on the menu are in the $ 8 – 9 range which I think is fair given the portion size and quality. Chez Faye Café isn’t a destination restaurant — don’t travel across town to eat here. But if you find yourself in Yaletown and you’re seeking lunch, this is the kind of place where you arrive with low expectations, but you leave thinking, «that was actually good! I’ll come back!».

This place is great! I often come here on my lunch breaks. Their yellow curry is amazing, it brings me back to Tyland. It’s nice and spaced out with many tables and the seats by the windows are really comfortable. Their hot chocolate is also amazing, great for hanging out on a winter day. I highly recommend it for a Yaletown café. Thier close proximity to the Yaletown skytrain makes it easy to meet people coming in from other areas too. «Turn right when your out and you’ll see it!»

A lunch date fell through at the last minute and I found myself hungry, with no food at work and too lazy to go too far. My original plan for lunch was closer to the library and has only 3 great sounding reviews. I needed one more ‘underdog’ to complete my April challenge so I started my search on Unilocal.Chez Faye only had 8 reviews and I used to eat here weekly before I started bringing my work to lunch. I was hoping they still had ramen on the menu but was sad to see it gone. I was trying to decide between the lasagna or the Cajun chicken wrap(both $ 5.50) when I noticed the buttered chicken special written on the board. I really should have thought harder about this considering nobody on staff looks Indian. Oh well, it wasn’t bad or anything but basically it’s a chopped breast of chicken on rice with butter chicken sauce. It came with an organic salad which was basic mixed greens with a slightly sweetish balsamic vinaigrette. Like I said, it wasn’t bad but I think I could have chosen better. In fact, the rice was cooked beautifully which makes me wish I’d ordered the Korean bibimbap dish. This also wasn’t on the menu but I noticed a sign describing this dish while I was paying. I’ll hazard a guess that the very friendly staff are Korean and I bet this is a safe bet if going ethnic. The service was fast and I was able to get take out. For a sit-down or takeout spot where you can fill your belly and not break your bank I think this is a decent Yaletown spot if you order wisely.

So you’re working in Yaletown and you’ve got a mad craving for Bimbimbap(Korean Rice Noms), what do you do? Well you run your butt over to this Café and let them feed you good! It’s not only one of the most affordable places to get some fast grub in Yaletown, but the food is good too. I’ve tried their breakfasts and they do the trick when you’re in need of a serious hangover cure for a stinky work morning. My fave though is the Bimbimbap for lunch(for under $ 8) and it comes with a bowl of hot Miso Soup too! I was surprised to see another Unilocaler’s review of their experience — a half-assed Bimbimbap all chucked in a bowl with no love, is NOGOOD :(My Bimbimbap experience was very different — it looked just like what they serve at the fancy big-boy restaurants and it had lots of goodies, and so far(knock on wood) it’s been pretty consistent for me every time I’ve gone. Try finding that kind of a deal in haughty Yaletown — that’s like a pop and a bag of chips from from über expensive Urban Fare! So, I found you a deal that tastes good too. You’ve got nothing to lose except more money elsewhere in this neighbourhood!

Found this place on Unilocal and based on the reviews, my co-workers and I went to try it out. The upside is that the place will get the food out quick. Other than that, don’t expect much from the quality or the taste of the food. I tried the bibimbop and they pretty much toss all the ingredients on it with a plastic bowl of warm rice and push it out. Then you add the sauce in yourself. The egg was poached rather than tossed onto the food since it wasn’t warm enough to have the egg cooked. The price compared to the quality didn’t match. If you’re going to pay at this price, you might as well go try elsewhere for lunch.

This is the worst café I’ve ever been to in my 22 years of life, they do not honor their specials and is a scam. Soup was way too salty and burnt sandwiches. Would’n’t return if they paid me.

My friend and I were walking back from a lunch date one afternoon and we passed by this place. She told me she’s heard lots of good things about it and it sparked my curiosity. I’ve gone a few times since and it’s become my go-to place right after a nice class of hot yoga. It’s a great location: just around the corner from the Canada Line station. The service is really good, the place is average size and there is seating outside which is really great for summer days. I love the atmosphere of the place. It’s so home-y and I often see people on their laptops, or reading the paper, or just hanging out with people. Very casual and laidback. I’ve tried their chicken panini, chicken Bi-Bim-Bop, chicken yakisoba, and the lemon loaf. It was all delicious but the chicken panini was my absolute favorite. The bread was toasted perfectly and the chicken was so moist. There was not a lot of veggies used which I actually liked because it would have been too big. There was some kind of lightly spiced aioli or sauce used; that was my fave part of the dish as it made it so tasty. Simple but very good. The Bi-Bim-Bop can also come in beef and veggie but my go-to is chicken. It has lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, bean sprouts and mushrooms with a fried egg on top of the rice. It was served with a miso soup and 2 sauces, a soy sauce and a red sauce(which I didn’t try because I thought it was hot sauce and I don’t really like spicy things). The chicken was a little dry, although it was cut in nice bite sized chunks. I found I had to add quite a bit of soy sauce because I found the dish a little dry overall. I do like the fried egg because it added another layer of texture to the dish. I don’t know if it’s just me or if this miso soup was milder in flavor compared to most miso soups in Japanese restaurants. I liked it though. The chicken yakisoba was a little disappointing as the chicken was dry but the sauce was tasty. Like I said I don’t like spicy food but this dish had a kick that I didn’t mind at all. The noodles were quite flavorful. It was quite filling too. They also sell baked goods but it’s most likely purchased from an outside place rather than baked in house. There is a small bathroom in the back. It was nice and well maintained. Would I come back? Of course. I’d really like to try their breakfast and their other panini items. My real rating for the place is 3.5÷5 but 4⁄5 is a pretty accurate rating of this place

I’ve eaten at this café for years. I respectfully disagree with the review below, I’ve noticed a marked decline in quality since Kevin left and the new owner took over. Don’t get me wrong, the new owner and staff are really nice, friendly people, but the food is not as good anymore and the prices have gone up. Also, some of the new staff are not great… when Kevin was running the café, he never got an order wrong. Since the new staff came on board, messed up orders seemed to be a regular occurrence. I completely stopped eating here after a couple of bad experiences with the food. The first bad experience was finding a piece of broken glass in my sandwich. I went to the counter and tried to explain to the girl that there was glass in my sandwich. I wanted her to know that wherever the broken glass came from, it was not cleaned up properly and they should make sure there were no more pieces of glass that might make their way into someone’s food. She did not understand what I was saying at all(her English wasn’t very good), and thought I was asking her for a glass of water. I tried again, but all I got was a blank look from her. The second bad experience was finding a toothpick in my chicken wrap. I don’t mean a toothpick that was pushed through a wrap in order to hold it together, I mean a toothpick that was mixed into the salad and then bundled up into the chicken wrap. I got a nice sharp poke when I bit into it. This time I stopped giving the café my business.

Best café in Yaletown thus far! Service: Can’t be beat! The new owner has definitely filled in the shoes of ex-owner Kevin quite nicely and the staff is just as great. Always attentive, friendly and a great attitude. Food: Every Tuesday they have a new special for the week which comes with a salad or soup(depending on the special) and is under $ 8. Portions are generous and I’m always leaving with a full tummy. Some of my favorites include their Clubhouse, Ham and Cheese sandwich, Bulgogi box, Spaghetti, Penne with Chorizo, Thai Noodle Salad, Cajun Chicken wrap and Chicken Alfredo. A sandwich and soup is always on special(excluding some sandwiches) for about $ 7. Ambience: It’s a cute little café with about 15? tables and a small lounge area near the windows. I feel very relaxed whenever I’m here because you’re always surrounded by locals or students and people who equally love Chez as much as I do. It’s relatively peaceful(no loud music/tv etc) and I prefer it that way.

Great little place! Stopped by to grab a quick bite; service was fast and friendly. Butter chicken special was not what I’m used to(seemed like a light version; with tomatoes) but turned out to taste great anyway. Clean and well maintained with good selection.

Chez Faye is one of the best Cafes located in Yaletown, the atmosphere, servers and owner are amazing people that make you feel very, very welcome. I’ve been going here for only a few months, but just after a few visits the owner had already memorized my regular order and remembered me :). The prices are very, very reasonable, especially in a location like Yaletown. It’s conveniently right beside the skytrain for breakfast(although I’ve only had lunch here) and when you just want to sit down to grab a meal for lunch, it’s hard to find a quick-fix spot in Yaletown. Recommend the Clubhouse or the ramen, it’s fantastic.
