What the heck happened — the southeastern part of Denman Street — is this now officially Shawarma Row? Well welcome F&F to the scene. In all fairness they are in pre-opening stages and not everything was available on the menu — yes that would be you Halumi(cheese) and Fatayer(pastry). So we settled for the Chicken Shawarma. And among the 97 Shawarma places on that block — this one gets it as close to what it should be. Decent chicken and hummus and just the right amounts of lettuce and filling. The price is right too — $ 5. Looks promising.

You know what really grinds my gears? Falafel places that advertise lamb on the menu but never actually have it! How do you call yourself a proper proprietor of a shawarma café when the last two times I’ve been there, I am told they’re «out of lamb» or «no lamb today»? 2 stars for destroying my desperate, soul-originating desire for a lamb shawarma platter today and for the lack of a proper website. Another thing that grinds my gears: restaurants(or businesses in general) that think they’re too cool to have a website. They’re a really new place and the storefront sign still says«Mr. Kumpir». For the life of me, I don’t understand why anyone would open shop without proper signage(how the hell are people supposed to know you’re Falafel & Friends?). I would happily have given 4 stars because their vegetables are super fresh and the hummus is out of this world(way better than Babylon Café beside them). This place will have to work harder to make friends with me.
