Don’t come to this place for their egg’s bennedict. Mine was quite flavourless and the egg yolks were that unnatural fluorescent yellow colour that made me think cheap and factory farmed. I assumed it came with hashbrowns but instead I got a fruit cup, which may be my fault for not asking.

My parents travelled here all the way from far to try their breakfast. We expected a long wait but the server let other same number parties went in before us even they came later. After the long wait, we were finally seated. And we were pretty much neglected the entire time and tables that were seated after us got service. After too long of waiting, we have to flag down another server after being ignored by our own server. Not only she made us feel unwelcome there but also had a horrible experience. Food was okay with generous portion. I am very disappointed and feel disheartening to let my parents feel like they were unwelcome and uncomfortable because they were not speaking English at the restaurant.

Jethros is a great place to grab breakfast — but be willing to wait in line! They don’t take reservations unfortunately. The short stack pancakes are perfect for splitting with a friend… they are HUGE, and I love their breakfast burrito. The food sticks to your ribs and it’s reasonably priced!

Location: Dunbar + W18th. It’s easy to find if you know the cross streets or else it’s a bit hard to notice the sign. Parking: There’s a parking lot at the back or you can park along the street. Service: regular checkups 3x during the meal(1 hr) Food: Tried crab cake benedict and cowboy’s breakfast and the food is just so-so. The bennies are lacking a bit of favour. There are lots of hash browns though. The portion is big. Personally I don’t really like the taste of their crab cake. Maybe I will try out their pancakes next time. From the look of it(by watching people ordering it at other tables), their pancakes are huge and probably need 3 – 4 people to finish 1 plate. Price: around $ 13 for regular breakfast(see the menu here for pricing: ) The price is pretty much the same as other all day breakfast places. I have tried other places with better quality with this price. Ambience: small café style restaurant Overall comment/tips: There’s a long lineup but the food is only so-so. I think it’s a bit overrated. If I ever go again, I will try their sweet dishes next time and maybe they are better than the savory ones.

The portions are huge especially the pancakes but let’s go with what is important the taste. The food is the same flavor as your typical breakfast place; therefore, nothing special. Go for decent breakfast but do not wait in line for it. It is a small place so the seats get filled fast.

Very very large portions. Cheap for what you get. Please don’t throw away food and rather pack the leftovers to go. One meal was enough to keep me going for a couple of days of breakfast. I had the burrito covered with gravy.

Huuuuuuge pancakes. And massive towers of French Toast. And really big omelettes. Jethro’s really goes for size when trying to impress its customers. I definitely suggest coming with friends to share because most people will not be able to comfortably finish the food in one sitting. While the food is just above average quality, I do really like the French Toast and chocolate chip pancakes here. The French toast comes in a huge tower while the pancakes are bigger than my face. Eggs Benedict are also quite delicious as well. Jethro’s is insanely popular though, so the wait can be quite long, but quite a nice brunch place in the area nonetheless.

If I have to lineup for this kind of restaurant food again, somebody has to pay me a lot, heck of a lot in the future. So disappointed.

For cheap breakfast and huge portions, this is the place to go. I personally think it is a bit over rated because the wait is ridiculous but the food is only so-so. On the other hand, the portions are HUGE(especially the pancakes) and they are probably the best thing on the menu. My favourite are the nanacakes because they’re topped with huge sugary streusel chunks and have pecans and streusel baked right into it. More of a dessert than breakfast. Ive also tried the pulled pork sandwich which was okay and their crab cake benedicts where the eggs were cooked only okay but their hash browns are either good or huge, uncooked chunks. I think i’ve passed my pancake craving phase but thats really the only reason i’d return.

We’ve been looking for a good brunch restaurant and Jethro’s is a great spot! Guy Fieri ate here on his show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We ordered the smoked salmon benedict and the crab cake benedict. Both were delicious and we would recommend them to anyone looking for something savoury. However, the hash browns and toast that came with our meals are nothing to get excited about. We didn’t order anything sweet(maybe next time), because we saw other tables order the pancakes and the portions were huge! Service was good, prices are good as well considering the large portions. The line up is worth the wait.

I’ve been twice. Once for the pancakes which were insanely large and can’t really complain because I’ve never had a bad pancake. It’s really just a sponge for butter and syrup, right? Today I went for lunch and the staff were pretty friendly. Coffee was good. I ordered the veg wrap with chicken and my friend had the pulled chicken sandwich with fries. We both agreed that everything was just OK. After a while I got tired of my wrap, the rice seemed more like filler as it wasn’t really seasoned or anything. The best part were the fries. Hot and fresh with the right amount of crisp. General theme I find here is quantity over flavour. I wouldn’t say«…over quality» because the ingredients seem fresh.

Biscuits and gravy were super dense and a little dry. Even with a couple sunny side up eggs i felt that there could have been more gravy to help lube up the biscuits. Paired with some side sausage and you will have a pretty good time though.

The closest place(and likely only place) to find chicken fried steak in Vancouver… something I’ve been craving for a while now. After reading reviews and understanding one must often wait in order to get a seat, my dining partner and I arrived and patiently waited 30 minutes for a table. After choosing from the menu posted near the door, we were ready to order within seconds of sitting down. Jethro’s has only 8 tables and the place was packed. The two servers seemed very different from one another: one was happy, enthusiastic and very helpful; the other appeared aggravated to be at work. I ordered the chicken fried steak with my eggs scrambled dry and he ordered the huevos rancheros, something he’s tried in many places before. I loved my dish. The chicken fried steak was thick, the coating crispy without being too heavy and the gravy, though it lacked a bit of flavour, was still good. The eggs were perfectly dry if not a bit overdone and the potatoes were crispy and perfect as well. He didn’t enjoy his huevos, however. He mentioned it seemed like yesterday’s rice which was a bit of a let down. He also mentioned the corn cake that was served with his poached eggs over a corn tortilla wasn’t very good. In fact, he didn’t even finish it. A nearby diner ordered the Gold Rush Pancakes and they were the largest cakes I’ve ever seen in the history of my life. Now that I’ve finally experienced Jethro’s I’m good to go for a while. I’ll likely return some other day in the future when I’m craving pancakes or chicken fried steak.

I’d go 3.5 for the Jethros experience. They know how to make some food right that’s for sure. Wait staff was fairly accommodating but also a little MIA for how small the restaurant is and not all that friendly. Things we could do without: the corn bread and chorizo Things that were tasty: the pulled chicken sandwich had great flavors, especially with jalepenos in place of green peppers. The fries are thin and crispy, I was a fan. The chili is good. Note it for the winter months. The gold this pancakes were pretty darn good but a bit stingy on the caramel sauce if you ask me. Also, all the pecans are in the bottom on, so pay attention and find them! Overall not the best quality food in my opinion but still pretty yummy.

Got here before 9 on a Saturday morning, to be pleasantly surprised by no lineup. Service was quick and friendly, though the food getting served took a bit longer. The coffee while hot wasn’t anything to write home about. It took almost 30 minutes for breakfast to arrive, and the huevos rancheros were a disappointment when they arrived. Then they were ruined by a rock in the beans. My guest on the other hand had corned beef hash that was quite good. Once the rock issue was pointed out, the staff couldn’t of been more apologetic, with the meal being at no charge. There was enough interesting looking plates going by, and a lineup at the door to warrant me going back again to try something different.

Jethro’s assumes, doesn’t ask that you want your brunch supersized. The food is cheap, comes in huge quantities and is for the most part delicious. This probably explains Jethro’s popularity; there was a 20 minute line-up on Thursday. The menu is a subtle twist on a classic greasy spoon brunch. I had the Eggs Benedict and the short stack of pancakes which were not so short. The eggs benny were perfectly poached and in a homemade hollandaise sauce which was a nice touch. The pancakes were light and fluffy, but be warned, it is difficult to finish them all. One member of our group ordered the fruit bowl, which was a huge disappointment. The fruit was either unripe or overly ripe, the quality was simply lacking for the price. Don’t go for fresh salads or fruit, stick with carbs, meat and eggs and you should have a great brunch that could act as your meal for the day

OH. MY. GOODNESS. My family and I were in Vancouver last weekend and I found out about Jethro’s online. It was supposedly considered one of the best brunch places in Vancouver, and being all foodies(and diners, drive ins and dives fans!) we were super excited to try it out. DEFINITELYNOT A DISAPPOINTMENT. We were a party of 5 and it was a Sunday, so we waited about 25 – 30 mins to be seated(it was cold out, and no heated waiting area-just a warning!!) but it was so worth it. We ordered the Nutella French Toast, the Denver Omelette(with a side of their pulled pork) and the Gold Rush Pancakes. The star of the show was definitely the Gold Rush Pancakes. They give you 2HUGE cakes stuffed with caramel, pecans and streusel(BESTPART). It was absolutely the best thing I had ever eaten. They gave us a pizza box for the leftovers(we only ate half!) The pancake batter was the best I had ever tasted, honestly, and I have eaten a LOT of pancakes. ORDERTHISIFYOUKNOWWHATSGOODFORYOU. The Nutella French Toast was good, but ours didn’t really have enough Nutella on it. It came with a MOUNTAIN of whipped cream though, so that almost made up for the lack of chocolate spread! The Denver Omelette was enjoyed by my parents, but I have a huge sweet tooth so it didn’t strike me as anything extraordinary. We also ordered a side of the pulled pork to go with it(as seen on the Food Network show), but unfortunately that was a little under seasoned and dry. Still fun to try though.

How is this place packed on a Monday??? I clearly don’t understand how things work in Vancouver. That or I’m just jealous of all the good eats that exist here. I think this may have been the first non-Asian restaurant that I tried during my trip. I know, I know, it’s all about variety but it’s tough to do when all the Asian restaurants are soooooooo good. What do you need to know about Jethro’s? Well, first, their dishes are massive and second, this is a place you want to try if you’re a bruncher. Yeah, I just called you a bruncher. I can do that because I’m not. Haha. We got lucky and only had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up. While we were there, there were a few parties that had to wait for a table(I repeat, on a Monday!) but not for too long. There were a lot of dishes that sounded delicious but after much hem and hawing, we figured out what we wanted. — Apple cobbler french toast($ 12) — french toast coated in a cinnamon crunch batter and topped with cinnamon apples and whipped butter(a huge dollop, which was totally unnecessary). Absolutely massive! No wonder people love this place. However, I am a beast and finished the whole thing. French toast was fluffy while the apple cinnamon gave it a sweet and touch of tartness to the dish. Good stuff. — Baked potato($ 12) — baked potato combined with hashbrowns, bacon, cheddar, sour cream and scallions. It also comes with a side of fresh fruit and choice of toast(my friend picked dark rye). This picture doesn’t really do the dish justice, once again, the portion was huge and super filling(carb overload). I’m thinking if I lived in Van, brunch would definitely be on my list more often. Good prices, good portions, good call.

Hey Jethro, why the rood mood tood? When all but one table are empty, why the rolling of eyes when we simply ask for a favorite? Chocolate Chip Banana French Toast — charred chip bread and buckram bananas did not seem spend anytime carmelizing on the grill. An annoyed glare for just one coffee refill. Um, it was just one. Yes, you read it right. *Please allow a first bite moment before suggesting the check.
