Yum yum yum yum!!! I wasn’t expecting much from this very casual sushi place, but omg the sushi was amazing! I had a veggie sushi combo(yam tempura, avocado and cucumber rolls and 2 tofu inari) with brown sushi rice, as well as spinach gomaae. Amazing! The sushi was fresh, tasty, and I appreciate the non– artificially coloured pickled ginger. The gomaae sauce was the best I ever tasted, seriously. Good value, good food and close to the beach and my place… Oh, and loved the 90s music. A new fav:)

This place has always been good, but I feel like they have even gotten better as of recently. Better quality fish, the rolls are well constructed, the rice is on-point, and the price is unbeatable. Almost did not want to review as I would hate for it to be too busy, they always have my order ready in 10min no matter what. Pretty cool.

Don’t go here for the atmosphere, this is our take out go to, grab something to go and head to the beach or for movie night at home. As for some of the reviews here, look at what you paid. This is cheap Sushi with high turn over, don’t go here to be wowed. I feel it is great value compared to some of the crappy other sushi places around van.

This place is great for takeout sushi… reasonably priced and delicious! Their three-piece combo deal is a steal, and I highly recommend the spicy combo!

Service was less than good and food order wasn’t correct. California roll was ok — but overstuffed. Dynamite roll — whole thing made me gag. The prawn tasted like one big tail — most disturbing. Also tasted like the oil was old and needed changing. I didn’t sample much of the menu — other stuff might be worth a shot. Unlikely I will find out. Disappointing.

I live in the hood and they always recognize me by name every time even if I haven’t been there for a while. The kitchen they have isn’t large which keeps their offerings simple but the pricing is matched to both service and menu. Yes, there are fancier places but this is good food at a reasonable price when you have better things to do than sit in a restaurant near a great beach but want sushi. Healthier faster food. I recommend them and think of them as friends in my ‘hood.

I agree with James W. that Kit’s is a 2.5 star place. Since he gave it two stars, I’ll give it three so our reviews average out. Other than the prices, which are very good, there are few real positives. There was no friendly greeting. When I go into a place where I’m going to trust them to serve me raw fish, a friendly greeting at least makes me feel like they care enough not to poison me. The place did not seem particulalry clean. The tea was weak. The nori was tough and chewy and the rolls were sloppy. The décor was downright depressing.

Pretty average sushi and fairly bland miso soup. Decent service, but nothing spectacular. It is cheap though, so they’ve got that going for them. If you’re looking for something quick and effective, this is a safe bet.

Near Khatalano Beach, this place shows no promise to be good. I arrived at the door –just standing there. No hello, please seat yourself or have a seat. The Chinese run owners are pretty quiet. Not a peep was made. Maybe they are mute? Every single table was dirty and sticky. Have they heard about soap and water in a spray bottle? I sat at the table near the door in case I had to puke. I ordered the Spicy Combo with miso soup. Miso soup was disgusting. Really salty and warm. Normal miso soup — the miso would dance around like clouds. I turned to my water and found a floaty. Gross! Spicy combo is pretty simple. Nothing really stood out. Rice was clearly old. Every thing looked and tasted pre-made and just thrown on the plate. I knew the one customer would thrown me off bit, but I had 30 mins of break and wanted fast.

Ordered delivery… after almost an hour and a half of waiting I called to see if they were on their way. They said they were waiting for the driver to return but my food was ready(so I guess just sitting there apparently) Definitely not impressed and will not order again.

Decent, cheap veggie sushi right by the beach. 2 items, miso and salad for $ 6.95. Fast and friendly service. It won’t blow your mind but it will fill you up.

Not sure when the new owners took over, but my wife and I have been going to Kits Sushi since July 2011 and we love it. Excellent rolls, fast/friendly service and cheaper than many other sushi restaurants in the area.

Under new ownership, about 6 months or so?! It’s kinda weird how to miss this spot, as usually going to Hapa next door… in fact, there’s another one on the other side. Anyways, it’s your regular sushi spot, but their special rolls are worth it! Ordered the dynamite roll & angel roll. The latter was a bit unique, deep fried tempura around it, sliced into ‘wedges’, and good portion of prawn. In fact, i like the perfect bite-sized pieces. Their takeout biz must be good, while i was eating there, about 5 ppl dropped by.

Decent and cheap. The rolls are good(Stanley Park Roll is superb). The sashimi was large but a little too cold. Been a few times and always happy but not stunned.

Sometimes their service is quite slow. Average sushi made by chinese family. You get what you pay for, but I would recommend this restaraunt moreso than Kibune(a few restaraunts down). Get their boxes! Def worth the price.

Decent, cheap sushi. Great for students. Fast service. I like to get my food to go, and you don’t have to wait long for your order.

In Japanese, when something isn’t quite there, they describe it as «imaichi.» That’s what my Combo C is making me think. I’d give the place 2 ½ stars if that were an option but a 3-star sushi joint this place is not. If this were Toronto it might count as 3-star, but this is Van, damn it. We’re supposed to have higher sushi standards. As for the restaurant as a whole, they have a lot of customers so they must be doing something right. The prices are good and the food isn’t _bad_, it just isn’t all that good, at least not tonight. The place isn’t very clean either. I’m moving to the neighborhood soon. I’ll probably give this place one more shot in the hope that it’s better next time.

If you’re looking to fill your tummy with good, really cheap sushi then this is the place to go. The bento boxes are huge and for the price you can’t beat it. I live literally two blocks away and quite often order take– away and pop in 10 minutes later to pick it up. For fast– food sushi(under $ 10) this is the best place in the area but if you’re after something a little more fancy there are other options close by.
