Odd Society Spirits

Mean spirited. I mean they make a mean spirit! Love Odd Society’s Wallflower Gin, it’s floral and so complex and yet good as a mixer. Combined with their new bittersweet red vermouth that tastes chock-​full of Italian herbs, it makes an amazing gin and tonic!
Their tasting room definitely elevates the cocktail scene in Vancouver. Had a fresh rhubarb strawberry sour cocktail with a vegan egg foam. It was heavenly!
Now if only they would get more than charcuterie and the occasional visiting food truck, I would become a long time sipper and regular.

Can’t say enough about how awesome this place is! Super creative drinks and very friendly staff! Also amazing if you don’t drink alcohol because they will make non-​alcoholic drinks for you special made and soooooo tasty!

Love this place, awesome vibe and great spirits/​cocktails. However, my only complaint is that it can take an exorbitantly long time to receive your drink (upwards of 30+ minutes) even when it’s not terribly busy, and I sometimes leave feeling a bit jilted. Still return for the imaginative drinks though!

Get the daily punch! Or the Caesar! Really though, anything you get here will be good.

This local distillery has a nice selection of cocktails using the companies own products. I had ‘the drive’, which was a nice mix of their spirits. The cost of most cocktails are around $ 10, which is very reasonable compared to other cocktail spots.
The inside looks a bit warehouse-​like but is complemented with nice loungey retro chairs and tables as well as a decent size bar.
There are very few edibles here, but they do offer a Charceuterie board or a couple of small snack options. I recommend this place if you are up for a quick cocktail. They also offer happy hour specials, but I have yet to try those out.
Should you really enjoy their products –vodka, gin, vermouth — you can buy bottles in house. Their price is a bit cheaper than bc liquor stores.

Bar none, the best, smoothest, tastiest vodka and gin and I have ever tasted. The Cassis is also killer and I cannot wait to try their whiskey when its finally uncorked. I cool place to visit to have drinks too but I also buy their product in house as its quite a bit more expensive in private liquor stores.

A surprising delight. This little place serves an impressive assortment of patiently made cocktails. I had as much fun watching the drinks get made as I did drinking them. I was incredibly impressed with the bartender’s skill and the fact that she never once needed to reference a checklist for some of the complicated drinks that had 6 or more ingredients.
Everything was running smoothly and a few of my party got to see how the distillery made their vodkas and gins in the back room. The entire seating area was classy and clean and had a very trendy décor. The back where the spirits are made was kept immaculate.
$ 9 drinks but worth every penny for the experience. Great place for a casual date over drinks. Would highly recommend.

Do the tasting flight… just do it. Every one of their spirits is super unique and worth trying. The women at the tasting room were super friendly as well and did a great job walking us through each of the spirits to give us a background on how they developed each one.
They said they are developing a white dog soon which I’m sure will be amazing — bummed I will be missing out since we were visiting from out of town!

This is a really funky distillery with roaring 20’s décor. The spirits were great and I am particular. The gin was not to be missed with lavender, rose, and elderflower. They also make killer cocktails at the bar and $ 9 is a great price for a specialty cocktail in Vancouver. Cons– they are not open that late. I have yet to do a tour but that is next on my list.

Order the tasting flight and try all their spirits before chosing a cocktail. That is the key to getting the best bang for you buck. Great value and awesome décor. It only needs a few more restaurants and bars to move in the neighbourhood to make it a no-​miss destination.
Loved the Oakes gin which is a special batch at the mo’. But also interesting barley-​based vodka, delicious syrupy cassis and sweet vermouth.
Open late Fridays and Saturdays — perfect place to assuage your post-​week work stress.

With the explosion all these craft beer places around town, now there are craft liquor places popping up too.
Parking is available on Powell, as well as a small lot next to the building.
The inside is very clean and hipsterish. Definitely felt good. The tasting room has a small cluster of couches and a couple of tables. There are a set of double doors where can look down a long row of vats where all this beautiful liquor is created.
The bartender was very friendly, and suggested I try a sampler ($ 7) as I had no idea what was good. Sold.
All ingredients are sourced locally. Another feel-​good attribute.
East Van vodka — interesting banana aftertaste.
Gin — nice and light, with plenty of flavour. It is hard to find a good gin, but this would be one of them.
Crème de cassis — some people may not like this, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice and crimson, and a bit on the syrupy side. This one is the dessert of the 3 samplers, for obvious reasons.
All 3 liquors were unique for sure. The vodka and gin were surprisingly smooth.
I will definitely be back. Recommended.

The folks here are very nice and friendly. They took the time to explain their drinks, their distillery and their background.
No attitude, no snobbery. Didn’t see any bearded plaid wearing lumberjacksters.
Mia makes great drinks and it was fun watching her work.
Drinks are really good and very well priced. I’ll be back because of these two points.

It’s hard not to fall in love with their Vodka and Cassis. There’s just so much love put into the establishment by Matt, Gordon, and the gang.
To be honest I didn’t even like Vodka. I found it tasteless and bland. I guess that’s because I haven’t found the one that knocked my socks off and bam, I was introduced to Odd Society Vodka at a farewell party two week ago and I was instantly hooked.
I like how this Vodka has personality and can be sipped. It’s smooth with a round finish. I am so happy this place is in my own back yard.
I was telling Gordon and Matt about a Gin experience I had with New Deal, a distillery from Portland, OR. I brought my bottle of #33 Gin and Hot Monkey, chili infused Vodka for them to sample. I told the gang if they can make their Gin taste as good as #33, they can have my money.
Can’t wait to come back to try their cocktails and their Gin, when available.

Excellent vodka and crème de cassis. Reasonable prices. Beautiful décor and lounge. Service was excellent and memorable.

What a lovely place! Everything looks like art in here, it is just so damn beautiful.
Came in for a tasting, they are currently showcasing East Van Vodka (with the most adorable label) and a crème de cassis. Both are incredibly delicious and very reasonably priced.
Didn’t get a chance to do a tour this time, but it is definitely on my to do list. I could just hang out here all day. The service was fantastic! The owner was so warm and friendly and full of information. It is so wonderful seeing peeps doing what they love.

Our visit to Odd Society Spirits was a trip! Firstly, the artistic décor of this large open space is awe inspiring. Owner Miriam Karp introduced herself, she’s so warm and down to earth. We chatted about the place and she answered all my über-​enthusiastic questions. The owl themed mural behind the bar is a wonderful piece inspired by artist Shwa Keirstead and can be seen repeated in the branding. East Van Vodka is their first product available to the public at just under $ 30 dollars a bottle. Taste the deliciously rich, berry cassis, which can be added to distilled beverages or enjoyed over ice cream and other sweets. Imagine the culinary potential! I’m looking forward to owning a bottle of my own when they become available. They’re just working on the labeling process at this point.
If possible, take a tour with distiller Josh who walked us through and patiently explained the different functions of the beautiful equipment in the distillery room, which to myself just looks like large steampunk inspired art. Especially the Vodka distiller.
We were lucky enough to arrive during the brewing process, so imagine the smell. It’s a bit different from a brewery or winery. You must visit!

Went in for the distillery tour today and had a great time. Got to sample the barley vodka (East Van Vodka) along with the cassis and learn a bit about the distillery process. Drop on by and check it out and if you are lucky they may be brewing and distilling while you are there.
