This wonderful family run restaurant is a perfect quick stop for lunch. The food is always fresh, the staff is always pleasant, and even more importantly the food is really tasty. I would recommend any of their platters if you’d like to have it at your desk and eat while you work… Or grab a wrap to go.

Quick note: Unilocal’s map has the wrong location. Pyramids Café is actually located near Boundary. So, don’t drive around Mount Pleasant pulling out your hair. It’s a restaurant with a few tables and a little grocery shop with some snacks and Mediterranean treats. Located tucked in the same building of Starbucks and Kingsway Sushi — it’s a great gem! The shawarma wrap was very flavourful and warm. The chicken soaked in its juices and seasoning waiting to be added to a bed of crisp vegetables. They sell other dishes such as roast lamb, roasted eggplant, BBQ chicken and an assortment of dessert dishes. They are nice alternative to Kingsway Sushi, Starbucks or the Taiwanese bbt place a few more blocks away.

The food is quite good, but the service seems oddly disorganized. The layout of the restaurant feels amatuer-ish. Not necessarily a bad thing though, I guess, it adds to the charm. Basically a family run shawarma style café. Pretty empty though most of the time.

Just love these neighbourhood spots, esp. with the spaciousness here… it’s also half supermarket too, for other Mediterranean products on the shelves. Best of all, for these prices, the portions one gets is just off the wall, even cheaper than one i recently ate in Tinseltown, Château Nega. Lucky Telus employees lol. typical standard wide menu of falafel, shawarmas, rice.

The map for this is wrong and the software to change it isn’t working. The map as shown gives the address on Kingsway north of Broadway when in fact the business is on Kingsway @ Boundary. Also it’s nowhere near Mount Pleasant not even close miles away in fact.

Location: On Kingsway @ Boundary, behind the Starbucks. Ditto everything Matt M said! I was looking for something close, quick, warm, and affordable –was heading toward the Starbucks for a wrap when I noticed this restaurant and store right behind it. I’ve gone 3 times in the past 5 days! Food is delicious. Even the rice is done differently each time: once cinnamon and raisins, once something else, once another version with peas. Hannah is a warm and gracious host. The Pyramid plate(beef shwarma, chicken shwarma, falafels, hummous, two salads, etc) was so wonderful I was tempted to just get that every time, but Hannah always encourages me to try something new –so glad she does! Even a dish as «basic» as chicken with pasta was lovely. They cook beyond the menu daily. Order any plate($ 7.50) and one of their lovely desserts(puddings, baklava, etc). Friends really enjoyed the shwarma wraps, too. They also offer delivery($ 15 minimum), catering, and party hosting. Free parking at the west end of the plaza(west of Starbucks), paid parking underneath, free parking on the side street to the west.

Pyramids is a newly opened family-run deli and café on the corner of Kingsway and Boundary that not only serves the standard shawarma wraps and plates, but also has rotating daily specials which include a rotating succulent roast lamb, barbecued chicken, stewed chicken with preserved lemons, roasted eggplant, hot pasta dishes, and an assortment of dips and fresh salads(including tabouleh, hummous, greek salad, green salad, and other usual suspects). If you’re not ordering a wrap, the lunch and dinner plates are served cafeteria style: they show you what the specials of the day are, you ask for whatever you want that more or less fills the plate, and pay the flat price(currently a pretty good deal at $ 7.95). The roast lamb is not to be missed, and their rice(usually such a humble component of meals) is one of the highlights of the plate, steamed with a slightly different combination of herbs and dried fruit each day. If you come in on a day when the rice has sour cherries in it, you’re in for an extra special treat, but the apricots, raisins, and other fruits are also pretty good. I hope this restaurant does well. It’s convenient to my work across the street, the service is fast and friendly, and the food is home-cooked quality at fast food prices. You may find Mediterranean food that’s slightly higher quality than this, but not without paying twice as much and waiting a half an hour for it.
