Red Sky

Bought my Birkenstocks here because my plantar fasciitis has been killing me for months!
The staff was very helpful and friendly. They know feet.

Very bad (and expensive) shoe buying experience. My young friend visiting the city bought a pair of North Face sandals to wear sightseeing. By the end of the day her feet were killing her. A closer look at the shoes revealed a major problem with one of the soles. After making the trek back to the shop to exchange the sandals, the best Red Sky could do was: No exchange — the shoes have been worn. Take it up with North Face. UPDATE: This issue was resolved with a phone call to North Face and another visit to Red Sky. The owner was willing to exchange the sandals. I think it made a difference that she was able to speak with the owner.

A small store located on Granville Island. A variety of outdoor clothing including boots, shoes, jackets, etc. Kamik rain boots, Bogs, Isle Jacobsen-​Hornbaek. Some lined rain/​rubber boots. Also waterproofing spray for other boots, materials or leathers. Nice staff and reasonable prices.

Come on, Vancouver. You’re a rainforest city. So why do so many of your shoe stores offer no other options than Five Inch Stilettos or Clunky Rubber Boots?
Thank goodness for Red Sky. They offer a decent, good quality range of tasteful rainy weather footwear that won’t break the bank. I was even able to find a nice pair of boots that fit my narrow feet and chicken legs. Bock bock! Chicken Lady is happy!
My only disappointment is the very wee store size. They do their best to utilize the space they have by stacking stock literally up to the ceiling, but if they had a larger store they could offer more selection. And we Vancouverite gals desperately need more selection.

One thing I’ve been told in Vancouver is that if I’m going to live here, I need to invest in some rubber boots. Unfortunately, I am super picky. When I saw this gorgeous pair of Kamik rubber boots that were grey with a black lace design in the window, I knew I had to have them. I went into the store all excited, only to find out that they only had size 6 left in stock (curse my size 8 feet!). Luckily, the lady working took down my information and told me she would call me as soon as the boots came in. This happened on a Sunday.
On Friday, I received a phone call alerting me that these gorgeous boots were back in stock! They said they’d hold them for a few days so that I could try them on. I went to the store the next day and the boots were in a pile in the back with my name on them. I eagerly tried them on and they fit like a dream! The man working was very friendly, found me a mirror, and let me walk all around the store. I happily bought them, and now am fully prepared for any rain Vancouver throws my way.
With friendly staff that are willing to order in shoes for you, and phone as soon as they come in, coupled with a cute storefront on Granville Island, Red Sky is a great place to buy shoes (and rubber boots!). I will definitely come back here again.
