Rocky Mountaineer Station

Absolutely loved taking the Rocky Mountaineer to get to Whistler. Definitely the best and most scenic option. Beautiful views along either side of the train and they slow down to allow for people to take pictures. There are 4 different rail options available to choose from. My specific route was a one-​way from Vancouver to Whistler thru the Canadian Rockies.
I was expecting it to be the glass train with open views all around but it turned out to be a regular speed train with an open car. The open car allowed people to take pictures of the beautiful views and had some history tied to it.
A light breakfast was served and refreshments were also available throughout the ride. It’s not the cheapest way to travel to Whistler but by far a very memorable one with breathtaking photos.

FANTASTIC! I don’t think they usually cater to families, but my kids and I loved it.
This is not recommended for all kids. My kids are great travelers so they know not to get too crazy in close quarters.
The station was large and had souvenirs, drinks and monitors.
We did the Silver leaf Journey to the West tour. 2 seniors, me and my 2 kids. We loved it. 2 days on the train and 3 day car rental. It was a wonderful trip! The hosts were so amazing. The food was much better than expected!
You can not get these spectacular views any way else!

Just did Whistler to Van and this is a great way to get home. Train slows down for pics and the scenery and staff were top shelf… I guess that’s a given though. Some tourists were sleeping on the train which I thought was hilarious but to each their own.

We just came back from this experience of a life time. This trip exceeded all of our expections and then some. From the bear, eagle, elk and ram sheep sighting to the great food and staff that made sure everything was right right. Also drinks were included with the fare. We also meet people from all over the world. We finish our trip in Banaff which was a story all its own.

WOW! Did the ride from Banff to Vancouver. They have Three different levels of cars Gold, Silver, Red. I attempted to book Gold but it was sold out. I was not disappointed with the Red in fact if if I had to do it again I would prefer it. The main reason is the Sun would not be beating down on my bald head thru the top of the Gold train car throughout the entire day. Now the WOW part. The ride is broken up over two days with one night in a Kamloops Hotel. Engineering marvels and natural ones are around every bend. I have never been on a more organized and easy flowing ride in my life. I saw the most amazing vistas in all the Americas loaded with wildlife. The changing landscapes will keep you mesmerized until your ride ends. If you are lucky enough to take this train ask if you can ride in Lars car. He’s simply the most amazing, informative, entertaining guide ever. Good luck Lars your the bomb baby!

In planning a Rocky Mountaineer (
) trip. The company charges MORE in $USD than in $CAN even though the exchange rate is less. I get the PRIVILEGE to pay more because I live in the US. The company will not allow a payment in $CAN if a US citizen (so the travel consultant says).
The trip cost in $CAN is 13,900, which $USD 12,741; however, the Company want to charge me $USD14,300 — approximately $ 1,500 extra.
Regarding customer service, the travel consultants are nice and helpful. Management is just gouging its customers.

This July my sister and I took the Vancouver-​Whistler train. We weren’t aware that Rocky Mountaineer had a labour dispute. The scenery was brilliant for sure, and it was fun that some people who live by the train tracks wave from their windows or porches. But… the service was the pits! We learned that the regular on-​board staff had been locked out of their work because they wanted to negotiate a new contract that included overtime.
We were served by inexperienced on-​board scab labour. I don’t believe they had any adequate, or perhaps any, training. They did not announce landmarks or mentioned them after passing by! Their commentary was read off a script whenever the girls working our carriage figured out how to turn on and off their mikes. Food service was very slow. Even though my sister and I were among the first people in the carriage to be served breakfast, the girls took so long that the food was already cold. To top it off, the crew could not answer any passenger questions about ground transport, attractions, basic tourist info about Whistler.
If we had known about the labour dispute, we both would have taken the bus or rented a car to go to Whistler instead. Even though we bought our tickets at a sale price that did not justify the shoddy service.

Amazing trip. Well worth the money. Could probably just pay to go one way and then take bus back. No need for the dome because you can go out to the open car to get pictures. The scenery is truly breathtaking. Staff is amazing and interesting and food is better than expected. We were worried because of the cost, but it was probably the best part of the trip!

We took the train from Vancouver to Whistler, also known as Sea to Sky. It is an incredible way to travel. There are locals that come out on their balconies and to their windows just to wave at the people on the train. The scenery is fantastic, the service is great and the comfort is amazing. We opted for the Dome service, which included breakfast on the way there, tea service on the way back, and free beverages. There is an observation car to get outside and get some fresh air. It was worth every penny, as there were no stresses of one of having to drive. We were lucky enough to have been there on the first year of a Sea to Sky bike race from Vancouver to Whistler. The train employees were there with bull horns to root the bikers on their journey! I loved the experience and would recommend it to anyone travelling in the area!

Simply the best train tour of Vancouver to Whistler!!!

In the last month alone, I’ve seen this space transformed into the Boobalicious carnival complete with burlesque dancers, the Portobello West Art and Fashion market and the Hopscotch Festival. I love how a space can be so easily transformed when creative minds get together to put something entertaining together.
Having a big open space with a large parking lot, modern washrooms and huge windows are definite bonuses too.
Now, the only I have left to do is hear a conductor holler «All Aboard» and be swept away through the rockies on what would certainly be a scenic ride.
