It’s reasonable pricing and service with a smile. Good portion sizes. It’s not a fancy sit-down dinner sort of place. Great for fast, casual meals. I like the negitoro, and the spicy tuna was very nice.

Very westernized tasting sushi. Cool space and ok pricing but definitely doesn’t taste authentic.

Live nearby and go here often for a quick good meal. Nothing super spectacular but just a good solid sushi spot. My favorite is the salmon avocado and the tuna belly. Be aware there is mayonnaise in all the rolls which i find very strange and always ask for a roll without mayo.

It is definitely 3.5 stars. I’m giving it 4 because I had a good experience. However, I probably wouldn’t bother if the line up is too long. The food is fresh and freshly prepared. Good quality rice and ingredients. Portion size is ok. Price feels a bit expensive but it is in downtown, so it’s typical for the area. I liked the interior décor and the japanese feel of it.

Very good sushi for the price. The portions are large, and both myself and a buddy enjoyed our meals. Get a custom roll. They offer two types of fish with three types of veggies you can combine into a single roll plus sauces and toppings. Next time I’m in the area I would go back!

I think I was spoiled living near the west end, as the little hole in wall sushi joints are cheap, the fish fresh and service is quick. Perhaps the mistake I made was coming here at dinner when it’s noticeably a lunch spot. My gomae salad was horrible. It was dry and tasteless. I ordered the salmon avocado roll and the spicy tuna. Neither tasted all that fresh and the rice was dry. My advice is don’t eat here past 2pm. I’ll come back, but not likely for dinner.

I ordered the yam tempura sushi and it was terrible. Too dry and tasted stale. While its in a convenient location right next to the library, I think I’d rather eat a bagel at Tim Hortons. No rolls kitchen for me.

A solid«go to» for quick and tasty sushi. The girls are extremely efficient and willing to make custom rolls. My favourites are the yam tempura roll and the yam & avocado roll. Some reviews say it’s on the pricey side for Vancouver — considering the location(Robson near the Stadium) it’s better value than most in this area.

I usually get the yam roll and the veggie roll! This is My favourite sushi place. The staff is really friendly as well.

Excellent sushi venue that’s certainly above the Vancouver ‘affordable sushi’ average. The girls that work there are crazy efficient and even more friendly, including yelling the traditional Japanese sushi welcome«irasshaimase!» when guests enter — a pretty rare thing in most Downtown Vancouver sushi locations. The sushi itself is very good, very fresh, and affordable. Highly recommended as a lunch or quick sushi to-go venue.

I’m always on the lookout for a quick and easy sushi place that won’t break the bank and this is it! Nothing fancy, but the service was fast and the sushi was good. Rolls come with 8 pieces of sushi and all were under $ 4.25. My favourite is the yam tempura with avocado. Somehow the tempura batter stays crispy even when we get it to go and don’t eat it for over half an hour later. Been here twice now and have tried that roll plus the negitoro, salmon avocado(better the 2nd time), chopped scallop(not enough scallop, lots of cucumber filler), spicy tuna(I like the spicy pepper!). There is some seating here, but for me it’ll be more of a to go place. Servers were friendly. Especially like how their soy sauce packs are low sodium, you can’t tell the difference! Ginger and wasabi are better quality than most of the cheap sushi options too.

Very disappointing avocado rolls, tiny and flavourless. Is this place based on the the fact that only girls work there and are supposed to be cute with customers? Not interested! Won’t need to go back…

So I asked some kids working in a coffee shop to recommend a really great sushi spot — um. Bad idea. I will say this, the staff here is beyond nice, but the sushi is sub par compared to anywhere else I’ve been. Sorry guys. You get two stars for being very genuine, but your sushi lacked passion and flavor. Very disappointing.

Fast food sushi place, the quality is good and fresh. They also have brown rice option for .25 extra. This is one of the few places that you can have less than $ 8 lunch or dinner!

Solid 3.5 stars. 4 stars for value: the sushi rolls are 8 pieces. Above average in taste, ordered the salmon & cream cheese. Salmon’s fresh. Limited menu, just sushi rolls, it’s cliché is making your own rolls, and deep fried karaage and possibly ebi. It’s a casual, fast, takeout place, with self-serve water, nice touch with the lemons in there. Located across the library. Worth a casual date, I suppose.

Interesting concept: machine-prepared sushi. It starts with a machine that lays rice nicely on a seaweed. The«chef» will then sprinkle some filling on the little bed of rice and seaweed. Off it goes to yet another machine, where it is rolled into a sushi roll. I like the no-contact idea, I really do. But, the sushi rolls themselves lacked appeal. Let me elaborate. The sushi rolls were, well… stingy. I ordered the Chopped Scallop roll to try. Likewise, it tasted just fine. It was just a little underwhelming if you’re looking for lunch or dinner. Perhaps breakfast sushi. I would have enjoyed a little more filling in the sushi roll. Just me and a lot of other people, I guess? It wasn’t cheap, nor was it expensive. But, if you consider that you are paying a regular $ 4 – 5 for an underwhelming sushi roll, then that makes a difference. Otherwise, I had no negative encounters during my visit. Will I come back? I don’t know…

Rolls Kitchen regular here. While I often come more for convenience(I live less than a block away), I also have yet to find anything to complain about in my countless visits since it opened: the sushi and ingredients are fresh, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. This place only has sushi rolls(READ: no sashimi or nigiri sushi), and you can order from a menu or customize your roll. The menu has the staples(California, Dynamite, salmon, spicy tuna, etc.) with an 8pc Dynamite roll setting you back about $ 4.25. To customize, simply tick the boxes that you want on the order sheets at the front: brown or white rice, vegetables, «fishes», sauces, and toppings. The vegetables include, among others, red pepper, cucumber, avocado, yam tempura and tamago(egg), and the«fishes» include salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, prawn tempura, and imitation crab. For the sauces, while it comes with soy sauce packets, you can add sweet soy sauce, hot sauce, and Japanese mayo. To top it off you can add a sprinkling of sesame seeds or tempura crumbs. An 8pc customized roll, depending on what you choose, goes for about $ 8.50. While the staff’s English isn’t the best, they are some of the most bubbly people I’ve come across(«Irashaimasae!!») and make sure your order is correct before making the roll. Everything is freshly made and it’s pretty neat to watch how methodical the staff are. That being said, because everything is freshly made, it can take awhile so this isn’t the best place to go to if you’re in a rush. However, you can grab pre-made sushi rolls(along with chicken karaage nuggets and the occasional potato croquette). Also, their hours are a bit weird: they close on Sunday at 6pm, and on weekdays they don’t open until ~11:30am and close at 8pm. Fun fact to finish this off: Rolls Kitchen is owned by the same folks who run Ebi-Ten and Ramen Jinya a few stores down, so it looks like they’re building a mini-empire of sorts of Japanese fast food chains on Robson Street. Anyone know if they own Gyudon-ya as well?

Came here one night before watching the Broadway show: Wizard of Oz(cause this place was close by and EbiTen was pretty full). Anyways, it was nice little place that looked like they were newly open. We found a bar table that would fit us 4 in. We each created our own roll which was pretty good. I also ordered an extra one off the menu called thin roll. The create your own roll that I made had salmon, massago, avocado, cucumber and fake crab meat. The roll itself was pretty good just the rice part of a bit mushy. I think it might have been that the rice was fresh out of the rice cooker. Overall not bad of a place. It wasn’t busy when we walked in but they seem well organize with sheets of paper for you to customize your roll. There were only 2 staff there so on busy days I can imagine it would be pretty hectic for them.

This place just opened up a few months ago. There are other Sushi places, but this place keeps it nice and simple. The menu consists of the usual rolls, but you are encouraged to customize your own. The prices are average compared to the other places in the area, but the ingredients are very fresh and plentiful which adds some extra value. The staff is extremely friendly and they make you feel very welcome in their business. Ignore the one reviewer who had a bad experience when they forgot their order. This was probably just an honest mistake, and I have visited here more than a dozen times with no long waits, in fact, they are usually surprisingly quick! They use environmentally friendly packaging for their take out which can be rinsed and recycled. If you’re craving some delicious rolls of sushi, go and check them out!!!
